thanks so much dear.. sorry tht I made u emotional.. 😆 but meri galti nahi hai.. director ki hai.. who made me remember by wedding vows.. my bidayi and my dad.. by giving such a beautiful epi.. (but with some logical and ethical flaws which I will point out duly in forthcoming posts.. depending on Mukhiji's behaviour in upcoming epis..) 😆

thank u so much for ur wishes dear. yes, beti ki shaadi iss a very emotional and painful task for parents, its draining both emotionally as well as financially...

I am against spending extravagantly on a wedding.. and going out of way to appease groom's relatives.. 😡

Also I don't like the whole idea of giving away your daughter.. why shud a woman leave her parents house?.. bt I cant stop admiring the notions behind it either. its kinda making a new nest.. it wasn't always this custom of living with your in-laws.. in fact in my village the ancient practice was to make a new house with the couple living around in same mohalla as that of groom's parents bt vice versa was also quite prevalent.. I mean the ghar jamai custom.

So I really don't understand certain rigid customs of some communities.

Also in our village the whole dowry system is ulta.. i.e. the bride groom's family who provides everything to a bride.. right from shaadi ka joda to mangalsutra... in fact. .they have to make an agreement before panchayat.. keeping aside certain amount for welfare of bride if a separation happens for some reason at the time of engagement itself..

so I cant really understand the dowry system either.. logically it doesn't make any sense..

Hi Violette,

I have only been on this forum for a few days but i am amazed each day at your thoughtful, concise, humorous and emotional posts and this one was a very powerful one. Sharing personal pains is always hard, yet you did it beautifully and although i am not Hindu, i am familiar enough with Hindi weddings I have attended ( I'm Sikh but a atheist). I will never be able to understand the painful separation that daughters have to to undertake when married and nor will I ever truly understand the pain of being treated unfairly due to being female but what I can feel is extreme pride in you and other women who fight for their rights and fair treatment in every aspect of life, marriage just being one thing.

I am happy that your father saw the value in each of you and although all i can offer are my condolences for his passing and I can tell how good of a parent he was by seeing how you have turned out since you reflect all of the good things he instilled in you

I think everybody here has said all the things I would have about today's episode except for this one point: I think Mukhi's lack luster response to the rescue is solely due to the reason that I don't think Aru has told him that she was pushed in, I think she deliberately hasn't told him because she doesn't want drama at the wedding since she knows how much Mukhi wants only the best wedding for Mishri.

But after it is over, and Mishri leaves, then I would like to see her tell him and then lets see the fireworks as to what his reaction should be :) The first step he can obviously see is that in both cases, the fire and the well, that female servant, I forget her name, she was the one who took Aru both times so that would be an obvious lead for Mukhi to unleash his fury ;)

Aru is interesting because she has settled into this marriage almost seamlessly, whereas mukhi is so swept up by mishri's wedding that he is not even thinking of aru and what he might mean to her. obviously he hasn't given it a serious thought, but now he will- in fact both of them will.

I can't wait until mukhi begins to fall for her. for him to see her as less of a nusiance and more of a woman. They actually have a really good chemistry that can even be sensual if shown the right way. I love the little nuances in their scenes-whether it is a gesture, a touch or a look.

I think Aru is a wonderful character.. she is this unique combination of cute kid and a mature lady. She eases into each role in her life so effortlessly. she has also this ability to bond with ppl around her so effusively. I think we will see a great bond with Aru-Saanvi and Aru-Uma as well. 😳

I think Mukhi is very fond of Aru as a person bt he doesn't see her as a woman yet. The hesitation to touch her might b a beginning.. till now thy weren't much aware of the easy proximity thy shared.. from now on thy might get more aware and hence hesitant to get close..

and yes thr chemistry is soo sizzling.. I cant get enuf of Eijaz's intense looks and Niyati's innocence.. and thy also add this naughty flavour to the ArMu banters with thr cuteness and clean hearts..
😳

the whole development of thr relation is so realistically portrayed.. they have captured small nuances of their changing behaviours and gestures.. really love it..! 😳

I wish lizard man cud join her in this atyachaar.. bechari ko akele jhelna pada..

One cant ignore the lingering romance betn Aru-Mukhi through each epis... 👍🏼..

Very emotional episode and a great post by you. Your father is a great man ( I say is as he will live forever through his wonderful daughters) and I am glad to read that he brought you up without differentiating between girls and boys as that must have been a typical thing to do.

Coming to the episode, Mukhiji is so bhola as he had to stop and think to touch aru LOL
I thought mouth to mouth could have been attempted too..but Aru woke up with the first try itself Tongue
Another question I have is ..the well was said to be little far from the village when Aru carrying matka scene was going on..how did they get back so fast after the rescue ?

It was there personal well

Hain.. Sita aur Gita.. @kuttapu and @amitpriyanka... 😲 😲 😲

please clarify.. mera dimaag chakra raha hai.. 😆

I completely agree that seeing a love story unfold through the tentative first phases of small gestures, light touches conveying tenderness and slightly sensual moments such as moving the hair out of her face because of the mehndhi on her hands or wiping the crumbs off her lips from the ladoo she was trying to scarf down before he could see are a great buildup towards when they both realize that the connection between them is in fact true love.

I like the dichotomy that although Mukhi is older and more experienced in life than Aru, because he is so used to being alone, he doesn't know how to be a "husband", yet Aru being younger has "seamlessly settled into marriage" as you stated :) So in some ways he is the teacher and in other ways, he has much to learn :)

The growth that they can both achieve as they fall for each other thru the subtle nuances bordering on sensual to the potential humorous adjustment period since they both are from such wildly different backgrounds will be entertaining to watch, especially when they both realize that they are each other's "dhaal"

Thank u bt trust me.. there have been way better writers and creative ppl on India-forum tht i had the privilege to know and learn. And i am humbled by tht experience. 😆

Oh! welcome to the atheist club...😛 Bt Well the term is really tricky for me.. 😆 Coz spiritually I'm Hindu. 😆

Leaving aside my confusion regarding existence of an intelligent entity bt not particularly God per se 😆.. and completely believing Stephen Hawking for now 😆, I think we need to wait for today's epi to ponder further on the subject of Mukhi's uncharacteristic behavior.

Really the whole focus was on Mishri's kanyadaan.. and a lot has to b unravelled in terms of the exact conversation that happened betn the two after the rescue..

I m sure Mukhi wudnt b so insensitive to drag a shocked and drenched Aru, who jst had near death experience, directly to the mandap. Obviously Kanyadaan was Mukhi's priority bt it cannot b done at stake of a human life.

Also, u r right. She might not b willing to tell him the truth (bcoz of her sister's ex-husband's involvement) jst yet, bt Mukhi is bound to ask her. Remember he was concerned in the fire wala scene too. So yes she might have not told Mukhi the whole truth and we need to wait for the whole flash back to come forth before passing any judgement on Mukhi's response.

And last but not the least, thnk u soo much for your kind words. My papa i m sure is very proud of his all four kids.

and as for the gender equality, well i believe it starts from home, from your own parents, from your own mothers, sisters, aunts and grandmothers.

Needless to say that our dignity, our self respect lies in our own hands and no one can trample you unless you let thm trample.

We have a gift of free will bt it shud b exercised with caution. U shud b fair, just, and equal in treating others so tht u r treated the same.

So basically, I m a feminist bt i stand by the rights of my dear hubby too. 😆
