I honestly thought I would never watch this after reading the synopsis of the original. however, they made many changes in the characters and the plot. Although I was skeptical about choosing an actress who is not dark-skinned to play this role, her performance in the initial two episodes was good for me to overlook. I hope they maintain the realistic touch of this show and not make it a saas-bahu drama. The show is giving me some yhm vibes considering how both shows dealt with two significant social issues. Looking forward to upcoming episodes.

My problem with the show was also in that they didn’t choose a dark skinned actress to play a role written specifically about a dark skinned character. It feels disingenuous and hollow, as if the show won’t be able to grasp at the magnitude of the discrimination faced.

Another issue was, why can’t a dark skinned fl be paired with a lead that isn’t divorced. There’s nothing wrong with being divorced, but her prospective matches only being men who have “things wrong” is so toxic. It just screams that a dark skinned woman can’t get a man who is marrying for the first time because there is something wrong with her.

I am also not able to understand why they couldn't cast a dark-skinned actress, like 'Parul Chauhan' in that Bidaai serial.

But on the other hand I liked certain things like

The non-filmy meeting of the main leads.

Normal family without any toxic step moms

the 3 sister's relationship etc

I honestly got distracted with how cakey and uneven the makeup looked when the camera focused on her during close-up shots. Make-up dept needs to get their act together

Also nowadays you do get good quality makeup too.

It would have been so much better if they used a dusky actress to portray this character👍🏼. I have yet to watch both episodes as I had been busy but saw some glimpse of her and I thought maybe it was my screen that made her look a bit funny.

That would have been best. There are so many in the industry who would be grateful to be able to play the part with their OG skintone.

Thanks, definitely is what I would like to watch. Shocking that these kind of discrimination still exists! People of the older generation are so casually racist.😡

Didn't starplus do a similar show few years back? it descended into kitchen politics.

Will try to watch both episode today before the 3rd one airs.

Yeah, Suhaani Si Ek Ladki..

It is the same issue for any girl over the age of 34 in this country tbh.
