Thank god this show is not as toxic as its regional versions. I honestly thought I would never watch this after reading the synopsis of the original. however, they made many changes in the characters and the plot. Although I was skeptical about choosing an actress who is not dark-skinned to play this role, her performance in the initial two episodes was good for me to overlook. I hope they maintain the realistic touch of this show and not make it a saas-bahu drama. The show is giving me some yhm vibes considering how both shows dealt with two significant social issues. Looking forward to upcoming episodes.

Though I don’t have a problem with the actress, I really wish they had given the fl a different look. It’s like they put a dark shaded foundation on her and just leave it at that. I don’t know why in all these shows where dark-skinned girls are fl’s, they try their best to make them look as bad as they possibly can. Don’t get me wrong, I am not obsessed with a characters looks, but I have noticed that in so many shows, they make the dark-skinned girl look dull and unkempt. It’s like, they think dark-skinned can’t take care of themselves or be fashionable or something

The show is going really good overall but I really hope they change her makeup and that wig.

I completely agree with you...the foundation that they put on her looks so cakey on her... there is no reason to give her bad makeup look just because her character is dark-skinned. I honestly got distracted with how cakey and uneven the makeup looked when the camera focused on her during close-up shots. Make-up dept needs to get their act together

Hi I'm freddie.🤗

Can you give me some more information on the show? I'm so intrigued after watching the promos but want to make sure it's something I want to get attached to.

It would have been so much better if they used a dusky actress to portray this character👍🏼. I have yet to watch both episodes as I had been busy but saw some glimpse of her and I thought maybe it was my screen that made her look a bit funny.

Hi freddie, nice to meet you! I am Miya.

so far the episodes have shown what we could infer from the promos. Diya's parents are not able to find a groom for her as she keeps getting rejected for her dark complexion. As a result, she is not interested in marriage and wants to focus on obtaining her dream job as a hotel manager at the front desk. She does get the offer but her boss tells her to be in charge of the kitchen when he sees her complexion. Then there is also a scene where she gets harassed by her neighbor but the neighborhood aunties gossips about her character and such.

Essentially the first two episodes are establishing Diya's character and her family for the viewers and put forth some of the issues dark-skinned girls and their families face in society. So far the two episodes were nicely put apart from the unnatural makeup that the FL is made to wear to look darker.

Thanks, definitely is what I would like to watch. Shocking that these kind of discrimination still exists! People of the older generation are so casually racist.😡

Didn't starplus do a similar show few years back? it descended into kitchen politics.

Will try to watch both episode today before the 3rd one airs.

Hi Miya,🤗

I finally got to watch the episodes and put my thoughts about them in the topic 'Episode 1'. It's very early in the UK, I barely had any sleep due to deadline and so wasn't thinking properly😆 otherwise I would have posted it here. I won't copy and paste it as it would just be a duplicate but if you have time do read it, would love to discuss more with you and anyone else who would love to join in.

😊🤗
