I have been watching Vikram since JNDSD, infact JNDSD was one of those shows which i ended up watching by randomly flipping channels and then there was a scene of Atharva and kailash kashyap playing onscreen and for some reason (I still don't know) i felt that this actor is just so charismatic onscreen. That show probably was one of those few love stories onscreen which had a very old school and unique take on undying love and i must say Vikram aced as Atharva, i do not know why he never won the ITA for Atharva's character because a performance like that really comes after ages onscreen, he had so much confidence and energy onscreen, I knew that he would be one of the best in TV soon.
After that i earnestly follow his work, then came Ek Deewana Tha, and once again he ended up with the best performance of the show, a psychotic and totally different character from Atharva and also in a two hero show where comparisons and fan fights were there all the time, but boy Vikram killed it with his performance. the first 60 episodes of Vyom was something and then Vyom takes a complete 360 degree turn in the next phase of the show, the transformation in his crazy and mentally unstable character was so drastic and Vikram never managed to make any mistake. it was amazing to see him play a completely negative and borderline psychotic character after playing the ever righteous and feminist Atharva. I think Vyom will always be a very special character for me because this show built Vikram's foundation as a versatile actor.
Later on I watched baarish, and even though he had a smaller character in the web show he did pretty well. what i did not like about his character was that it was very basic, there was nothing different from any balaji show's male characters.
Now he is playing Aman with so much honesty that i believe he is one of the few male actors in Gul Khan shows who actually can act, given that his character has many layers and the usual male chauvinism of regular Gul heroes, he is doing a wonderful job. All i do not understand is why did the writers forget that in the initial phase of the show Aman was this strong headed and balanced man who knew how to differentiate between right and wrong, once he fell in love his brain went to dogs? in that case pyar kyu huya isko? the problem is Gul/Ekta does not have good enough writers to ensure that male leads do not loose their basic character once they fall in love, there was so many ways to separate Aman and roshni but no they had to ruin Aman's intelligence and his basic judgement to break up his and Roshni's alliance, just like in every other show.
I still did not watch Maardani 2, even though i want to watch it for Vikram but i have heard that it is a very brutal take on rape and movies like this disturbs me a lot, but i will still try to watch it.
To summarize, it has been around four years since Vikram has got his breakthrough and he has achieved a lot as an actor, three different roles as male lead and all of them being popular is no small feat. I really hope YJHJK gets a logical end and Vikram gets another great show in his kitty.
