beautifully put. He has gone into worst case scenario mode...because she was his everything and he was broken when he lost her...now to have her back in the same place, .....he wants it,...but he is not sure he can handle it if it is wrong again.
Also, on re-watch, when MM talks about Preesha not being someone to be taken at face value, till that time, Rudra agrees with her & starts his angst of not realising who/how she is till a long time.
But the minute MM starts talking about how if she were in Rudra's place, she would have removed Preesha from her life, Rudra gets this disturbed/lost look on his face. As if he cannot contemplate the thought of Preesha not being in his life or "removing her" (I think he does gets the MMM vibes instinctively here & even for a split second, he cannot contemplate anything terrible happening to Pree).
Also, till now, Rudra has been on act first think later mode. He was hurt terribly and his first reaction was lashing out hard at the source of his misery and hurt...Preesha. Hitting back at her with everything he got.
Then, when he got the chance with MM, he's trying to hurt her by showing he's moved on & cheating with someone else (tit for tat for Yuv/Pree). And when Pree looks at him with hurt in her eyes, he's initially satisfied to see her hurt because it is a balm for his hurt (superficially) while deep down it also shows that she cares for him & is affected by his antics.
Now it's coming to the point where he's noticing her hurt, registering it internally for what it is (rather than what it does for him) and is feeling hints of guilt as well.
This is ofcourse balanced out by Yuvraj popping up everywhere & Preesha being brainless/clueless, so he reverts back to square one every single time.
When Preesha left the first time during his dance with MM, he missed her exit, but he was thinking of her tears & feeling guilty & lost when she wasn't there.
Then ofcourse he sees Yuvraj/Preesha & that sets him off.
Then the entire RuSha dance sequence was all about back to lashing out. He's actually hitting the dandiya very hard, like actually lashing out with them, recklessly.
With that reckless force, its inevitable that he'll hit & when he does & she cries out in pain, its reflex for him to care for her. its like he's completely back to old self
