Yeh Chanda Kanoon Hai, the comic show on SAB TV, is a light-hearted effort to highlight court-room humour. Alas, the outcome is akin to a flat soda. A bubbly humour could've been conceputalised provided the punch-lines were smarter. But what one comes across are characters that have been reduced to mere caricatures. Whether it's a police official or a judge, all end up as buffoons.Actor Tiku Talsania raves and rants for the umpteenth time in this comedy caper. He at times goes overboard in his act of a judge in Yeh Chanda.... A divorcee Chanda Rani (Juhi Parmar) often faces her lawyer husband Vibhuti Narayan (Aasif Shaikh) as the opposition council in court. Both try every trick in 'law-book' to win their cases. Also, the judge is hopelessly obsessed with Chanda and tries to find opportunities to meet her alone. Ultimately, it's Chanda who succeeds in legal battle'hence the title! The show tries to spoof on various incidents that have been in the news.
Aasif Shaikh has acted in many comedy series earlier and is an old hand. In this show, too, he tries to bring out humour through his acts as the 'scheming' lawyer. Juhi Parmar tries her hand at comedy and seems to have flair. Actor Raja Chaudhary is desperately trying to mend his ways in real life and is set to appear in one of the episodes of Yeh Chanda....
What one really misses are some smart one-liners that would've ratcheted up the comedy level. Yeh Chanda'turns out to be another run-of-the-mill comedy caper.
Verdict:
What could've been a humourous court-room comedy, turns out to be a soggy fare.

Comedy Drama 'Ye Chanda Kanoon Hai'
Court-room drama "Ye Chanda Kanoon Hai" aired on SAB TV every Wednesday at 10 pm has created its own presence amogst the audience from very first episode.
Produced by Rajiv Singh and Rajaram Patidar under the banner of Ideas Picture Company this serial is directed by well-known director Rajan Vaghdhare and written by Manoj Santoshi.
Comedy arguments are between Juhi Parmar and Asif Shaikh as lawyer and Tiku Talsania as Judge. The judge is trying to impress Chanda Rani (Juhi Parmar) and deals differently with others.
Juhi Parmar has also acted in "Shaheen" and "Kumkum". She says "Ye Chanda Kanoon Hai" is different from other serials. In this serial Asif Shaikh and Juhi Parmar are divorcee couple, and lawyers by profession. There is a good comic chemistry between Juhi Parmar, Asif Shaikh and Tiku Talsania. Rajkumar Kanaujiya, Farzil, Rishina Kandhari, Nilesh Malviya and Shikha Chitambare are also having good tunings. Director Rajan Waghdhare says clearly that all artists are performing very good and there are many punches of comedy. Producer Rajiv Singh says this serial is his dream and he is very happy with the success of this serial.
So start watching, if not already, this serial on SAB TV every Wednesday at 10 PM.

She's Juhi Parmar, sans make-up, one of tellyland's weeping bahus smiling for the camera..J UHI PARMAR doesn't remember the last time her small screen character Kumkum smiled in the afternoon soap of the same name. She says, laughing, "Kumkum has cried so much in the show. It's sad that she has very few reasons to smile about. She's gone through so much in her life that you will more often than not see her weeping copiously." The show, which completes four years this July, claims Juhi, hasn't yet taken a toll on her, it hasn't, she says, yet made her scream 'Enough'. She claims she's still enjoying playing the much-married Kumkum. "Initially I used to feel I have had enough of playing her but not any more. I don't want to give it up ever. I don't mind doing something else, working in some other soap but not at the cost of Kumkum because it's an important part of my life." The reason we are speaking to Juhi is because her screen char acter is going through some more tumultuous events in her life. For instance, the makers of the show have decided to get inspired by the real life case of Gudiya (she who remarried after her first husband who was serving in the army was declared dead only to come back in her life when she was already pregnant with the other's child). And so, you have Kumkum, a la Gudiya oscillating between her first husband Jatin (Anuj Saxena) and her new one Sumeet (Hussain Kuwajerwala). And yes, to make matters more complicated, in true TV soap style, she has one child from Jatin and is expecting one from Sumeet. Also, Jatin is suf fering from partial amnesia while Sumeet has survived a massive accident and as Juhi explains you the intricacies of her reel life painstakingly, one can't help but joke about her being so much 'in' character. She says seriously, "I have to be aware of all these complexities because if I don't do it then how will I play the character?" Ask her if Kumkum has rubbed off on her real life persona and she promptly shakes her head, "I can never let Kumkum affect Juhi because I am a very switch-on-switch-off actor. Only when the shot is ready and I am in front of the camera, then I become her, otherwise you will always see Juhi Parmar." Kumkum is known to have a terrific chemistry with Sumeet so much so that the two actors were once even rumoured to be more than just co-stars. But with Hussain having recently got married to his sweetheart of many years, we asked Juhi if marriage has changed her co-star for the better and she laughs, "He was always the best and my very good friend. I don't think he needs to get any better. And now with his wife Tina, we three have a great time whenever we are together." Isn't she looking for marriage? Doesn't she miss a special someone? "Well, marriage is definitely I am looking forward to but right now I am very much single. I would love to marry someone from the industry because then he would understand my profes sional pressures better but again, even if the person gels with me irrespective of his profession, it's fine because the person is important and not where he comes from." And so all you men out there who probably watch Kumkum and her travails, may be this is the time to sweep her off, of her reel life distress and make her happy and smiling. In this weekend special, which is also the 100th anniversary episode of the program, Chanda Rani, the talented and beautiful lawyer of 'Yeh Chnada Kanoon Hai' plans a holiday for herself on her birthday and takes off to Shikarpur to celebrate. Vibhuti Narayan on getting to know this follows her to the train that she's taking. Not far behind, is the the Judge, Mr. Prem Kapoor who also tries to catch them on the way. Add to this the special VIP genre of imitation comedy for this special episode. The laughter factor in this special 100th episode is raised a few more notches as he makes a special guest appearance in the show as a Ticket Collector, Ticket Counter Clerk, Gay passenger, Receptionist at a hotel called Haivaan, in a spoof of Shehenshah, A coolie and many others adding to the riot of fun and laughter.
