Drunken maheshwari trying to romance with naina was expected. But his drunken state proved one thing that is he respects her a lot.

When naina said she is feeling sleepy he didn't try to force her. Even in the drunken state he respected her feeling and stopped immediately. And his "naina tum mujhe bohut pyari lagti ho. Tum yeh nightie pehnogi na toh aur bhi pyari lagogi" How can one be so gentleman!
