Just that dangling at the end of the mangalsutra symbolised so much:

Their names studded together, conjoined and fused in a setting of liquid gold forged through heat- no one can break them apart for eternity to come, they will always be united, not two souls but one.

The N before the S- no ego issues here because they are equal in this relationship. From a different angle S will come first but from the viewers angle N will come first. How beautiful is that! Whenever she will see it, S will come first because he's her priority and when he will see it, N will come first because she is his everything. She will come first for him, before himself, before life itself. His Naina truly became his with the promise that her every wish will be his command and her every success his happiness.

Its neither her nor his but a truly compact symbol of theirs. Na tera na mera, sirf humara.

The Journey from chewing gum in hair to sindoor in maang mubarak ho!

Wonderful analysis Sims. Loved that mangalsutra very much. Not so conventional type but it depicts Sameer and Naina's relationship in one glance itself. Loved your analysis on the priority given by them in their life. Another thing that struck me is in the earlier one S and N were separated by a stone in the middle as if there are still a lot of hurdles they have to cross to become one. Some of them separately and some of them together. But in the mangalsutra both S and N are fused together and they are hanging from stone as one unit which shows that now also they will have a lot of hurdles but this time they will face it together as one unit. No matter what no one can separate them. If you take out S from that locket then it will be completely lost and N will be still hanging but will be disfigured and without proper alignment. This clearly shows their relationship during breakup phase and Sharad issues. Sameer was completely lost and Naina was still alive but just like a walking dead body.
