Down South especially in orthodox families kitchen is very sacred and whoever is cooking never tastes the food so there is no question of "kadhai chatna". We are brought up like that - we never eat out of the vessel or kadhai in which food is cooked and served.

The only thing we know is eating raw rice as a youngster may cause rain in his/her wedding. Usually back then it was the girls because boys rarely helped in the kitchen😊

And yes, black color is never gifted and also not worn in any special occasion involving pujas/rituals.

Exactly how we follow in our home. So no question of kadaai chaatna 😆 . Different traditions in india in different states.
