Its perfectly written... 👏👏

The apprehension and then the slight hesitation is asking Sameer...

The school flashback was relatable... Lot of girls face this, and also the boys do share those looks and silent smiles on seeing girls visiting the washroom with their purses or bags... and some of them even have the guts to snigger.

I liked how you made Sameer connect the dots while watching the ad. It showed his understanding and even quick thinking... When he had attended those classes, he hadn't taken the info to be something to be joked about... and I loved how he assured Naina that he could help her in such situations if she wants.

And completely appreciate the fact that Naina trusted him enough to ask for help... and he was quick witted enough to not show even a little bit of unease... 😳

Loved reading it... 😃

Love,
Mou

Thanks Mou 😊

I am so pleased that I was able to tackle this topic in relatable manner. To be frank, I was not sure how the incident from the school would be received by all the readers. And am really overwhelmed by all the response received. It helps so much to start trusting your instinct as a writer, right?

Yes, Sameer is very good at thinking on his feet and also instinctively knows how to make Naina feel at ease in most situations. I have always admired his strong protective instinct and actions for her.

Loved it
I so wanted to see samaina facing this kind of situation and you gave it
The school flashback was just amezing
The hesitation , care was clearly visible .. You presented it beautifully
And the present scenario was just perfect
They are indeed comfortable with each other
Sameer asking what to ask to the shopkeeper was cute
And yes Naina is actually oblivious to all the things they can talk about

Love

Thank you for liking it 😊 I am so happy that you enjoyed school scene, I was slightly apprehensive if I would be able to strike the right chord with it.

Yes, from that incident when they were in 11th to now where they are in the 2nd year of college (as per my OS), they have come a long way and the understanding and comfort has grown a lot.

And yes, though Sameer is willing to go shopping for feminine products, he obviously does not know quite what to ask for 😆

I also wanted to highlight Naina's naivete where she is thinking that there can't possibly anything harder to talk about than this with Sameer 😳

Keep updating further

Thanks dear and glad you liked it! I know a lot of people here felt we should have seen this on Samaina... hence decided to give it a try 😊

This was how the show makers too should have introduced the topic instead of dumb charades that they made us see. The fact that periods are a natural phenomenon and not a taboo is being talked about today. But back then it was quite a hush hush affair. The way you depicted sameer's understanding and sensitivity to the topic was simply brilliant. His teenage brain in school could wrap it's head around such a topic and extend his support for the girl he loves and cares for was perfectly depicted. I loved reading it. Please do come up with more such os's or ss or ff because it's sheer pleasure reading such work.

Thanks dear. So glad you enjoyed it 😊

Yes, it was a very hush hush thing... and now when we think logically about it, it just doesn't make any sense,

Naina was initially extremely conscious of the fact that he understood what she was going through inline with that time and her upbringing. It took her a long time to get to the point where she could feel comfortable broaching this topic with him. That can be attributed to the growth in their relationship but also largely to Sameer's sensitivity and liberal thinking.

Of course Sameer will be much more understanding than Arjun. But the way how Arjun behaved was typical for boys of that time. I don't know whether this awareness is given to today's teenagers also.
I strongly believe that there should be proper classes in school given by a child psychologist to all kids before they step into adolescence. Girls should know on how and why it is happening and what all you need to do to keep clean and safe during that time. Boys also should know about the changes that they will have during that age and about the changes in girls also. If we restrict knowledge then kids will get more curious about it and will try to get information from anywhere which may not be correct always. But if a proper educated person is giving information and if they present it as a natural process then everyone will understand in its proper sense. I think these kind of proper and correct education will help in reducing molestation and rape of girls.

Thanks dear!

Yes, I completely agree that Arjun's reaction or lack of understanding of this issue was the most common scenario those days. I am exactly from that era and hence know what it was like. Hopefully things are changing in India now. More awareness and more importantly the way this information is shared must change.

Here in U.K., my daughter and her classmates were first introduced to this topic when they were about 9. They shared some basic scientific information in a very matter of fact manner. And all the kids went home accepting it as just a bodily function. Over the next 2 years they were given more information alwys in small increments. It makes such a huge difference to how they all accept menstruation and all reproduction related information with an open mind but at the same time not overtly interested in it.

The periods topic should really be shown with SamAina.. I mean how Naina tells him about her periods in case of emergency.. Her hesitation.. Sameer helping her in every way possible.. All this was what I wanted to see.. N you've done it brilliantly through the OS👏

Thanks so much Anjali! 😊

I am so glad I was able to capture the essence of what everyone would have liked to see. I don't think it would have been possible for Naina to explain anything to start with... so I got Sameer to break the ice on that topic and let her know that she can approach him if need be. A little assurance can go a long way... when finally when the need did arise she felt comfortable asking him for help.

Code name Aunt Flo. Is it invented by you! Never heard it before! Perfect.
Loved to see helping boyfriend Sameer.
The flashback and its connection with present superbly done.
Love your writing.
The period issue is nicely depicted.
Felt like watching in the show.
Naina is so comfortable to share this with Sameer. Good to see that.
This sharing comfort should be there in real life people also.
Hope that day comes soon.

Thanks dear 😊

Aunt Flo is a popular euphemism for the menstrual cycle in the West. Not my original code name 😆

Glad you liked the idea of presenting part of this as a FB. It's not something that would have just come up in a conversation between a dating couple back then. So, had to create a situation that forced them to have dealt with this issue somehow once.

Yes, I hope we get to a point where these subjects are not taboo soon!
