Part 2 - College Mein Shubh Aagman
The first day of college, all six were excited in their own respects. The girls as they could now do away with their old uniforms and plain looks and would get to dress up every day. Naina was the most happiest as she could wear Sameer's favorite color, blue, but he had also told her that she looked cute and beautiful in pink and that it stopped his heart every time she wore pink. Thus, she decided to combine both and wear a pink T-shirt with blue long denim skirt paired with small blue hoops and a new watch that Chachaji gifted her for getting more than 85% in 12th.
The boys were also excited to sport their new look. Munna Pandit had styled themselves to mimic Akshay Kumar, the new heartthrob, anticipating that they would turn into college heartthrobs, but had rather messed it up and were looking their usual cute clown self. However, Sameer had cheered them with new sunglasses and perfumes as their gift for a new beginning.
All three boys were waiting for the girls one lane away from Naina's house as they had decided to go together in Sameer's car to college. Sameer was super excited as Naina had agreed easily, unlike last time during Pooja didi's wedding when she had reluctantly sat in the backseat to accompany Taiji Tauji for card distribution. Today it was going to be different. He couldn't control himself and checked his watch for the umpteenth time.
Munna sensing his restlessness, placed a hand on his shoulder to calm him down "Arre Sameer, Bhabhi aa jaayegi, college ke pehle din thodi na late hogi.
Pandit quipped in "Waise bhi ladkiyon ko taiyaar hone mein kaafi time lagta hai, aur yahan tou teen ladkiyan ek saath taiyyar ho rahi hai, toh time ka andaza laga le. Sameer glared at him, but Pandit's eyes rounded looking behind Sameer and he thanked his stars that the girls' arrival saved his skin.
Looking at his expression, Sameer turned back and the sight mesmerized him. Naina was looking very beautiful, cute, lovely, and ethereal in this dress. He noticed how she had cleverly paired both his favorite colors in a stunning combination. She too eyed him head to toe, in a white polo T with a light brown vest and light blue jeans. He looked handsome beyond words with those eyeglasses. He removed his glasses at the same time to eye her more closely and they were lost in each other's gazes. She tightly blinked her eyes and smiled at him indicating that he looked very handsome and she loved his outfit. She eye-signaled by raising her brows in question as to how she looked. He gave a quick pout as an air kiss. Naina turned all crimson immediately and Sameer too blushed, realizing his gesture but couldn't stop himself.
As the girls neared, he looked at Pandit standing right beside him without blinking "Pandit, muh bandh kar le, makhkhi ghus jaayegi. Pandit immediately realized his folly and fumbled.
"Waise, kisko ghurr raha tha? Naina sirf meri hai, Sameer had fun teasing his friend. On the other side, even Munna was taken aback by Swati's college avatar with jeans and white top, and hair tied in a ponytail in Madhuri style.
"Yaar bhabhi ko tu dekh, mein tou padosi ko dekh raha hoon, Pandit replied still focused on Preeti.
That's when he noticed that even Preeti looked quite cute, the girls had indeed labored to style themselves and he smiled at Preeti too.
"Buss kar yaar, kitna ghurega, saali hai meri, the girls had neared them, so Sameer playfully reprimanded Pandit.
"Yeh sahi hai bhai, gharwali bhi teri, saali bhi teri, tou hum kya bhajan kare?, Pandit was back to his usual self with antics. Sameer shook his head and smiled. He knew his friends could be playful and teasing, but neither would cross any line with any girl, especially not with these three girls. He was sure that though they might not show it openly like him, MP were also protective about the three girls, such was the bond they had developed in his absence. The one year had changed a lot of relationship dynamics for the good.
When the girls came to them, "Pandat, tu aaj bada sundar lag raha hai!, Munna complimented Swati in his usual style.
"Dekho Munna, aaj ke baad agar tumne mujhe Pandat bulaya na toh mein tumse kabhi baat nahi karoongi, tum mujhe sirf Swati bulaoge! Swati jibed him, though only to scare him. She never did mind him calling her Pandat, it was their personal thing.
"Kya yaar Pandat, tu toh pehle din hi bhadak gaya, Munna was scared as expected. Swati smirked slightly and Munna saw that, so all was well.
They all wished each other and complimented each other on their new look and style. Finally, as it was getting late, Sameer opened the front passenger side door and gestured Naina to sit with him while he drove. But Before Naina could make a move, MP came and sat in front. Naina and Sameer both were annoyed.
"Kya kar rahe ho yaar tum dono, peeche jaake baitho na, yahan Naina ko baithne dou!, Sameer irritably asked MP to move to the backseat. He wanted to have his Naina with him in the front seat and share some private moments.
"Sameer, bhabhi yahan baithegi, tou chaar log peeche kaise baithenge? Bhabhi peeche baithegi tou teeno ladkiyan aaram se baith sakti hai. Pandit gave his logic and continued "Chal aaja jaldi, warna pehle din he late ho jaayenge and Munna pulled the door closed leaving an irritated Sameer staring at them with death glares.
"Koi baat nahi Naina, aaja tu hamare saath peeche baith ja, Swati pulled Naina with her to the backseat. Strategically, the girls, placed themselves such that, Naina was behind the driver's seat, Swati in the middle behind Munna, leaving Preeti behind Pandit. No one noticed but Pandit couldn't stop stealing glances of Preeti from the sideview mirror; she looked so different and amazing.
Sulking Sameer went to the other side, got in the driver's seat and slammed the door shut to let everyone know, especially MP that he was irritated. Naina moved forward in her seat and the rose fragrance coming out of her intoxicated him. He so wanted to grab her and hug her tight, but he had the driving task at hand and anyways couldn't give in to his sudden urges like this.
Naina sensed the tension rolling off in waves from him. Hesitant at first, she raised her hand and placed it on his right shoulder and squeezed slightly. He was taken aback by her bold move and such an open display of affection towards him. He calmed down visibly, smiled and looked at the rearview mirror, indicating to her that he was fine now. She was about to take back her hand when he crinkled his eyebrows making a cute puppy face, and she gave him the same pouty kiss he had given her a few minutes ago. He smiled again and started the car.
Everyone was excited and chatted all the way as to how the first day in college would be, what they would do, etc.
Few minutes later, they entered the college gate and were directed by the watchman to park faraway on the other side of the campus, as only reserved guests and VIPs could park close to the main entrance, such as Principal and trustees or their relatives.
Sameer was taking his card to the indicated spot when it stopped right in the middle of the driveway. All of them got out. "Sorry yaar, lagta hai car kharab ho gayi, dhaansu entry ka idea flop ho gaya, Sameer apologized.
"Koi baat nahi, Sameer, teri wajah se hume fir bhi sab jaanne lage Munna said to get over everyone's disappointment as a crowd had gathered and was mocking them.
"Tum log yahi ruko, hum gadi ko side mein khada karke aate hai Sameer asked the girls to wait there only.
"MP, aao dhakka marna padega, isse aaj yahi khadi kar dete hai, Sameer asked MP to help to move the car in the VIP slot.
Seeing this, the watchman came running, "Arre, meine bola na, tum yahan park nahi kar sakte, trustee ka beta bhi yahi padhne wala hai, yahan uski car park hogi! Yeh jagah uske liye reserved hai!
Sameer recalled when he was also known as trustee ka nati in PVKM, things had changed after Nanu left, but he had taught him to not misuse his title and position to derive undue benefits.
"Bhaiya, meri gadi kharab ho gayi aur achcnak bandh ho gayi, iss liye yaha khadi ki hai, college ke baad mechanic bulvake theek karake le jaunga, sirf aaj ki baat hai, Sameer tried to explain to the watchman, when a speeding car came and screeched to a halt infront of him.
Two guys and one girl got out of it and the watchman said "Kartik sahib, mein isko bol hi raha tha, ki yeh aapke parking ki jagah hai.
Kartik came to Sameer with full attitude "Kyon re, samajh nahi aaya? Fir se samjhaun? Yeh mera spot hai, apni gadi hataa yahan se.
"Dekho, meri gadi kharaba hokar beech mein hi ruk gayi, issliye yahi khadi karni padi, sirf aaj ki baat hai, shaam ko theek karake le jaunga, Sameer tried to reason calmly.
Just then the girls also came over, hearing the commotion and since a crowd was now gathering around the guys as it seemed that some tashan was going on.
"Kharab ho gayi tou mein kya karoon? Tu gaadi ko dhaaka maar, sar pe utha ya bag mein bharke le ja, mujhe kya? Par yeh yahan pe park nahi hogi, abhi hata ise, tum jaante nahi mein kaun hoon! Trustee ka beta, yeh college mere baap ke paison se chalta hai, tou meri gadi wahi park hogi jahan meri marzi hogi. Ab hata ise yahan se, warna..., Kartik was simply being the rich spoilt adamant brat.
"Abbe chilgoza, hamara Sameer bhi..., Munna started to say something in Sameer's defense, but Sameer didn't want his Nanu's name pulled in unnecessarily.
So, he stopped Munna and again tried to reason with him. "Dekho, meine kaha na, sirf ek din ki baat hai. But Kartik wouldn't relent.
"Oh!!! Bhaisahab request kar rahe hai... Kartike and his friend Priyank started mocking Sameer.
"Rehne do Sameer, hum sab milke dhakka lagate hai aur gadi ko uss taraf le jaate hai, Preeti voiced from behind, trying to avoid the tashan.
Kartik realized the presence of girls around Sameer "Oh hooo... ladkiyan bhi hai, yeh bhi dhakka lagayengi...ufff, nazuk kalayiyon mein bada dum hai, hum bhi tou dekhe, kaise dhakka lagati hai he sniggered towards Naina and Preeti.
Now SMP lost their patience and all three came forward at the same time "Aye...
"Sameer... Naina called out and lightly touched Sameer's arm. All three calmed down and took a step back immediately. Such was the effect of her voice on him and also on MP. Their bond had grown over a period such that she was precious to even MP, as much as they could fight for the respect of their Bhabhi and her sister, they wouldn't mind backing out if she desired so.
"Apne pita ke naam aur paison ki wajah se ghamand karna bahut aasan hota hai, par uske kaabil banna utna hi mushkil, Naina retorted a one-liner to Kartik and gang and then left from there. The boys pushed the car towards the common parking spot, some other guys also helped them voluntarily.
Such was the first day first entry in college. To Naina's dismay, Kartik and gang were in the same class as them, but Naina asked her gang to just ignore and avoid them. They agreed to stay far away from the spoiled fish. Naina also noted that the girl in Kartik's gang, known as Sunaina, was continuously eyeing Sameer; however, to her relief, he was oblivious to her. She had also remarked loud enough for him to hear "Kitna handsome hai, Sameer.
Nain saw Sameer cringe visibly and then smile remembering something. Naina sat next to him in the class and asked the reason for smiling.
"Ek time tha jab mujhe khudpe itna guman tha ki agar mein ek baar muskura doon, toh 10 ladkiyan waise hi gir jaayegi, aur khudpe gussa aata tha ki tumahre jaisi behenji ko patane mein time waste kar raha hoon. Naina rolled her eyes and pursed her lips, remembering their school days when his love for her had started for a bet.
Sameer leaned closer to her "Aur ab mujhe tumhare alava na hi koi dikhta hai, na hi dekhne mein interest hai. Naina blushed and lowered her eyes and Sameer tilted his head to look at her more closely and intensely. He kept getting mesmerized with her plain beauty devoid of any ad-hocs and make up. She managed to steal his breath with just a cute smile and stop his heart with that bright blush. He was also glad that they could talk about Mt. Abu and the bet phase openly without the hard feelings, rather joke about it... But he knew how Naina was hurt and devastated during that time and he never wished to see her like that ever again. He would never be able to forget her hurt and betrayal filled eyes during that time and so he always made sure to convey his affection towards her at every opportunity. His world now revolved only around her and he knew she could get super jealous if some barbie hovered around him, but he was not even a bit interested in any one else, no matter what antics the girls tried. He definitely had noticed Naina getting uncomfortable when Sunaina was eyeing him and passing comments. Though at times, he enjoyed his jealous Naina, when she showed her haq openly on him and loved when she got possessive about him, but it was all good until it was fun. Whenever, he noticed any girl going overboard to make Naina uncomfortable, he would quickly mend it and be there with her with eyes only on her. He did love her to the moon and back and there was absolutely nothing in this world that he wouldn't do to see her smile.
