Dear people, here is the birthday update as promised. This track will be divided into three parts. Here iis the first one. Hope you all like it. Do not forget to like and comment!! Happy reading.

Part 9 - Main Manhoos Hoon

Sameer redelegated the duties, most of which were to be executed by the boys only.
"Par Sameer...bhai, itne kam waqt mein yeh sab kaise hoga? quibbled Munna.
"Jaanta hoon, thoda mushkil hai par Naina ke liye kuch bhi. Tum log sirf yeh batao ki mera saath doge ya nahi?, asked a determined Sameer.
"Arre yaar, hum tere dost hai, tera saya, hum tera saath nahi denge kya! Pandit confirmed that they were always with him.
Just then Naina walked in the class, followed by economics professor. Everyone quietened down.
Naina sat with the girls and continuously stole glances at Sameer. Usually, he would he openly staring or gazing at her, but today, it was unusual that he was fixedly staring at the blackboard, little did she know that his mind was preoccupied with the revised plans.
After the classes, when he usually pleaded with Naina to stay back for some extra time so they could have some romantic moments, today he was in a hurry to leave. Upon asking, he made an excuse that he had to meet Munshiji regarding Nanu's business matters and was going to take the boys with him too. He also told her that he might have to go with him to visit some factory sites and might be back late, and hence, they might not be able to talk on phone at their usual hour. She was convinced, sad that they might not talk tonight but glad that he had started taking responsibilities to make Nanu proud.

On the way home at the bakery shop:
"Uncle, mujhe aaj shaam ko hi cake chahiye? Sameer requested the owner.
"Nahi sorry, tumne kal shaam ke liye bola tha, ab itna achnak itna urgent order ready nahi ho sakta...apko kal hi milega...waise bhi tumhara special order hai, waqt lagega...aur agar tum koi saada cake bhi chahoge, toh bhi mushkil hai kyonki iss waqt hamara baking oven kharab hai. Hum use theek karva rahe hai, par thoda samay lag sakta hai, denied the owner.
"Par uncle, thoda plan badal gaya iss liye urgent chahiye, Sameer tried pleading again.
Now the owner was irritated "Dekho, tumahara plan badal gaya toh mei kya karoon? Kal ka order tumhe kal mil jaayega...agar aaj itna hi urgent hai toh khud bana lo, mera dimaag mat kharab karo. And he went inside the kitchen to supervise the repairs.
Sameer was irked but cooled down immediately as his anger would only spoil things. Suddenly an idea struck that delighted him. He screamed loudly "Idea dene ke liye thank you Uncle and hurried out of the shop.
He stopped at a magazine stall and asked the boy to give him a recipe book for cakes.
"Arre bhaiyya, aisi cheezin toh sirf mahilaon ki patrika mein hi milegi...ab itni saari hai, kismein hogi kya pataa...aap khud hi dekh lo, mujhe toh grahak dekhne hai. Waise jyadatar mahilaein GrihShobha le jaati hai. The boy pointed him to different piles of magazines, indicated the famous one, and got back to his own tasks. Sameer was flabbergasted to having to go through each edition available to find a recipe, but well he had no choice, and so he set about the task at hand.
After spending a good 20 minutes, ignoring the mumbled sniggers of lady customers and those passing by, who were amused at a young boy rummaging through women's magazines, he managed to find what he was looking for. A simple chocolate cake recipe without eggs. He heaved a sigh of relief, paid the stall boy quickly and hurried on his bike to the nearby grocery shop.
He opened the page and instructed the owner to pack everything according to the ingredients.
The shopkeeper was also amused at such an unusual request "Beta, hum iss tarah saaman nahi dete...ek chamach, ek katori, yeh naapna mushkil hai, mein toh wajan se hi de sakta hoon.
Sameer was confused but had to decide quickly "Theek hai uncle, aap wajan se de do, par utna dena ki 5-6 cake aaram se ban jaaye.
The shopkeeper was amused and confused but judged and packed the ingredients accordingly.
Finally, gathering all that he needed, he rushed home at jet speed, dumped everything in the hall, asking Ramdhari to keep it in the kitchen.
"Bhaiyya, yeh sab kya hai, itna saara saaman...aisa kya banana hai aaj? Koi mehmaan aa rahe hai?
"Nahi Ramdhari, buss cake banana hai, tujhe aata hai?
"Nahi Bhaiyaa, kabhi banaya nahi hai aur padhna humko aata nahi hai, toh vidhi padh bhi nahi sakte.
"Theek hai, tu rehne de, mein dekh loonga.
"Bhaiyaa, aapka khana banake rakh diya hai, mein apne chacha ke ghar ja raha tha na aaj, par agar aapko kuch madad chahiye toh mein ruk jaata hoon. Supported Ramdhari seeing a haggled Sameer, who was trying to find something on the desk in his room. "Kuch dhoondh rahe ho bhaiyya? Mein madad karoon?
"Nahi, tu ja, mein dekh loonga sab kuch. At that moment he also found, Ajay bhai's number and dialed immediately.
"Hello, Ajay bhai, mein Sameer, wo aapko photos diye the...mera kaam ho gaya kya?
"Haan...Sameer, tumhare photos ready hai.
"Kya aapne unhe frame karvaya, jaisa meine bola tha?
"Haan haan...frame ke saath ready hai, tum kabhi bhi le ja sakte ho, informed Ajay bhai.
"Ajay bhai, kya mein ek request aur kar sakta hoon...kya aap unhe gift wrap karke, mere ghar bhijwa sakte hai, please...mein extra paise de doonga, par bahut urgent hai...please.
Ajay bhai was thoughtful on the other side, but hearing a please, he acceded, "Theek hai Sameer, waise toh hamara studio aisa nahi karta, par tum Kabir ke dost ho toh tumahri request ko special maankar kar doonga, shaam ko 8 baje tak bhijva doonga, apna address de do.
Sameer dictated the address with explicit directions so that the delivery guy is not lost and the gift is delivered on time and hung up after thanking profusely to his Nainital friend Kabir's cousin.
Then, he opened his desk drawer where he had hid a card that he had made for Naina, a birthday card, on which he drew some roses and lilies using stencils and adorned it with her most beautiful pictures from the school days, mount Abu, and Pooja didi's wedding. He had also written a beautiful wish inspired from the most popular birthday song.
Baar baar din yeh aaye
Baar baar dil yeh chahe
Tum jeeyo hazaaron saal
Aur unn saalon ka har pal mere saath bitao
Happy Birthday, My Dearest Naina!!!
He lovingly touched the card and Naina's pictures but was jolted back hearing the phone ring.
Munna Pandit were calling him from a booth, and after giving them some more instructions, he heaved a sigh of relief.
Finally, everything was organized, gift was on the way, card was ready, Munna Pandit would take care of the decorations, now the last but the most important remaining thing was the cake.
He walked into the kitchen to joust with something he had never tried in life. Looking at so many ingredients and such a long recipe, he panicked and muttered to himself "yaar, baaki sab toh manage kar liya, par yeh kaise karoonga? and he clucked his tongue.
He took a deep breath "Nahi Sameer, darne se kuch nahi hoga, Naina ne kya sikhaya hai, jab gaanth ulaj gayi ho, toh use ek ek dhaaga karke suljana chahiye, tu haar nahi sakta. Yeh soch, Naina hoti toh kaise karti.
He closed his eyes and thought about her and the path enlightened on its own. He smiled, opened his eyes, first took the magazine, read the whole recipe once thoroughly. In the second read, he placed all the ingredients and equipment sequentially as per need. During the third read, he started measuring out the ingredients and mixing and following the recipe. He tried to follow it to the dot and used the microwave (yes only rich and urban had the microwave in those days, others baked the cake in a cooker or in closed pans) as per instructions, but the result was a half-burnt mound. It tasted bitter and resembled bits of charcoal in a few places, but nowhere close to the picture in the magazine. This was the first ever full-fledged kitchen venture for him but he was not going to give up, so he discarded the disaster, took in a deep breath, and started all over again. After three more failed attempts, which resulted in a brown stone, half-baked, cracked, and collapsed products, his patience was withering. He was frustrated and time was running out. It was already 8 p.m. when the doorbell rang and he went to answer.
The studio guy delivered his package, neatly wrapped in a gift paper as he had requested. He paid him the extra money as promised and also tipped the delivery guy for the extra effort as a token of thanks. He was dying to open and see the end-result, wishing he hadn't asked the studio to gift wrap it already, but he was confident as he himself had monitored the computer version of the final design. So, if the final product looked half as good, it would be well worth the effort. Thinking how Naina would be elated seeing this brought a smile to his face, and he placed it with the other things that he had gathered for her.
Rejuvenated with new vigor, he stepped back into the kitchen, looked at the mess he had made. "Chal Sameer beta, Naina ka naam lekar ek koshish aur kar le. Naina hamesha tere liye kitna kuch karti hai, tu ek cake nahi bana sakta...itna bhi mushkil nahi hai...dheer dheere, aaram aaram se thande dimaag se bana, iss baar pakka ban jaayega!
He huffed and set about again. Finally, after a couple more tries, which came out ok, he successfully made the best cake, perfectly round, not cracked in any place, and didn't collapse when he transferred it to a carry box. The remnants in the baking dish tasted quite better than before. He spread the white chocolate icing as described, which he had prepared and stored much earlier, tried to draw some exquisite heart design and wrote Happy birthday Naina! Finally, satisfied with the end result, he took a moment to admire his handiwork. "Wah Sameer! Aakhir tune kar dikhaya! He winked and smirked at his own cake.
The doorbell rang again. Thinking "Munna Pandit aa gaye honge! He ran to open the door.
His guess was right. The two most simple-looking, continuously doing monkey antics, his two rock pillars entered howling in elation, indicating that the assigned task was complete.
"Tum logon ne sab kuch theek se kar diya? asked Sameer to confirm although their zeal said it all.
"Arre bhai, tu hume koi kaam de aur hum use pura na kare, aisa toh aaj tak nahi hua. Sameer thanked them and they hugged in their trio.
Sameer once again checked everything, the cake, candles, matchbox, torch, water bottles, cold drinks, a few munchies, card, gift, a special tiny velvet box that he had bought a few days ago, and camera with a new reel and an extra reel and instructed MP to stow everything carefully in the car.
Then, he went to his room to dress in his best avatar that Naina loved, his red turtleneck with sky blue jeans.
He was excited and couldn't wait for the impending date. The only task and the most challenging was to convince Naina. He had planned several arguments and pleadings coz he knew Naina might not be really happy about the whole idea. It was going to be a Herculean task by itself to convince her and get her out of the house at the unusual hour. It was a huge risk but he was planning to take it; he and Preeti had planned it carefully to minimize the risk and also keep the surprise intact until the last moment.

At Agarwal house since evening:
Just as everyone was finishing dinner. Preeti and Naina were helping Bela to clear the dining table and were in kitchen.
"Bela... O Bela... Taiji came in her usual hollering self, but clearly more upset than usual.
"Bhagwan jhooth na bulvaye, kya hua bhabhiji...khana nahi banaya kya? Par humne toh kha liya...Aur aap hi ne toh seekhaya hai na ki raat ko jab ek baar chulha thanda pad jaaye, toh fir jalana nahi chahiye. Bela started forming excuses to avoid cooking another round of fresh food for Taiji and family in case that was what she asked for.
"O Bai...meri billi mujhi ko meow! Sab samajhti hoon mein Bela...badon ka toh aadar karna hi bhool gayi hai tu! Waise bhi...teri rasoi ki aas mein nahi baithi rehti mein...tune khana banana mujhse hi seekha hai, guru hoon mein teri... Taiji reprimanded her for presuming too much. Bela only shood her head in affirmation, to avoid further taunts.
"Khair wo sab chod, jo batane aayi thi wo sun, Chachaji also came outside washing his hands.
"Aaram se baithkar baat karte hai bhabhiji, kya hua? Asked chacha.
"Anand babu, aaj mein Gandhinagar wale Krishna mandir gayi thi. Wo Meghaben ki maa ne bataya tha. Wahan ek bahut pahuche huye babaji aaye huye hai, bahut bade bhavishya vaqta hai, toh mein sab bachchon ki kundali lekar gayi thi.
Chacha didn't believe in all this but didn't say much so as not to mar the respect of an elder.
But Bela's interest was piqued "Toh kya kahan unhone hamare bachcon ke baare mein.
Taiji continued "Are kya kehte, sab achcha aur shubh hi hai, aakhir Agarwal khandaan mein paida hone ka saubhgya jo mila hai. Pooja ka bachcha swasth paida hoga, Arjun ke Bhagya mein bhi keerti yog hai, hamare Pralay babu toh khandaan ka chirag hai, sabka naam roshan karenge aisa kaha unhone, aur Preeti ki shaadi bhi jaldi ho jaayegi.
Chachaji shook his head that all bhabhiji was interested was in to get the girls married off at an early age as if they were a burden. Well, he didn't care about any kundali, he always supported his girls.
"Aur Naina, Naina ke baarein mein kya kaha babaji ne? Batayiye na bhabhiji.. Bela enquired enthusiastically.
"Arre...wahi toh batane aayi thi, bhabhiji getting upset all over again "Mei na kehti thi, jali hui kundali lekar paida hui hai, babaji ne bhi yahi kaha... Just then Naina Preeti came out of the kitchen. Upon seeing her object of rant, Taiji continued in an even louder tone "Aa gayi maharani...issi ki wajah se ek din hamare khandaan ki naak kat jaayegi.
"Kya keh rahi aap bhabhiji, kya kiya hai Naina? Asked a worried Bela.
"Arre paida ho gayi, isse jyaada kya bura ho sakta hai? Paida hote hi ma ko kha gayi, babaji ne bhi yahi kaha ki iski kundali ke hisaab se, iska Jeevan aasan nahi hai, mata pita ka sukh nahi hai, shaadi mein bhi adchan aayegi. Hayee ram, agar iski shaadi nahi hui toh zindagi bhar hamari chaati pe baithkar moong dalegi! Waise bhi na shakal surat mein dum hai na akal hai aur na hi baap ke paas dene ke liye dahej. Uss din toh meine Rakeshji ko sirf tana maara tha, par ab toh mujhe sach mein lagta hai, ki iska haath kisi din kisi raah chalte ke haath mein de dena padega...fir yeh jaane aur iski kismet...fir iski futi kismet ka tokra wo uthayega jiski khud ki kismet futi hogi...Hum kyon jhele umar bhar? Haan... kal hi janamdin hai na iska, wo manhoos din, jab iske paida hone ki wajah se hamari bahu chal basi...kitni manhoos hai, paida hote hi ma ko toh kha gayi...apne bhai se bhi ma chin li...Kaash uss din bahu ki jagah, ye hi...
Chachaji's patience was done now and he bellowed "Buss bhabhiji...buss kijiye...kya bole ja rhai hai aap? Naina hamari bachchi hai, aap uske baare mein aisa soch bhi kaise sakti hai?
Naina was silently taking in all the insults and accusations hurled at her, and today again Taiji had hurt her where it hurt the most, taking her mother's name but today she said something that no one had uttered before that her brother was also a motherless child due to her. Tears continuously streamed down and Preeti helplessly looked at her, just laid one hand on her shoulder and the other on her arm, trying to support her and infuse some of her strength. She hated seeing her beloved sister in so much pain but she couldn't do anything when the elders were arguing. However, she was grateful to her parents who thought of Naina as their own child and didn't pay heed to such rubbish.
"Arre Anand ji, abhi toh mein sirf bol rahi hoon...ek din yeh sach na hua na, toh aap mera naam badal dena...ab ek hi raasta hai, kal hi yeh shaadi layak ho jaayegi, toh buss, jo pehla ladka mile, iske haath peele karke vida kar do. Taiji provided her age-old solution for any girl-related issues.
"Buss bhabhiji, aap badi hai, iss liye mein ab tak chup hoon...aap ke baarein mein nahi jaanta, par Naina mere liye Pooja aur Preeti ki tarah hai, meri teesri santaan hai aur mein apni bachchiyon mein farak nahi karta. Sahi waqt aane par Naina ki bhi shaadi hogi, aur uske liye bhagwan ne kisi khaas ko hi banaya hoga. Tab tak meri betiyan padhengi, aage badhengi, aur apne sapne pure karengi.
"Par... "Buss Bhabhiji, ab isse pehle ki mujhse koi galati ho jaayiye, mein haath jodkar aapse vinti karta karta hoon ki iss waqt aap ghar jaayiye. Chachaji folded his hands, bowed his head, and requested her to leave.
Bela lovingly placed her hand on Naina's head then cheek. "Arre, beta, tu kyon ro raho hai, Bhabhiji aaj tak mujhe bhi taanein maarti rehti hai, unki baton ko dil se mat lagaya kar...tu toh hamari sabse pyaari aur sabse layak beti hai, assured chachiji.
"Naina, Beta jab tak mein hoon, mein apne kisi bachche ko koi kami nahi hone doonga, aur tu toh meri pari hai, Chachji also comforted her and Naina hugged him.
"Haww...toh mein kya chudial hoon?, Preeti quipped feeling left out and trying to lighten the mood.
"Haan chudial hai, par pyariwali... Chachji smiled through his emotions and hugged both his daughters tight to assure them that they need not fear anyone or anything.

When the girls went to their room and Chacha-Chachi to theirs.
"Suno Bela, kal ki party ke liye sab saaman le ayi ho na?
"Ji le toh aayi hoon, par aapko lagta hai ki yeh party karni chahiye? Matlab, aaj jo hua? Bhabhiji ko achcha nahi lagega aur Rakesh bhaisaheb ko toh waise hi nahi pasand. Bela tried to reason to avoid further conflict.
"Nahi Bela, aaj ke iss waqkye ke baad, yeh party aur bhi zaroori hai. Naina ab bachchi nahi hai, badon ki aisi baton se uske dil ko bhi thes lagti hogi. Aur iss baar sabko achchi tarah yeh bata dena zaroori hai ki baaki do ladkiyon ki tarah Naina bhi hamari beti hai, aur hum hamesha uske saath hai, khaskar ki bhabhiji aur Rakesh bhaisaheb ko. Rakesh bhaiyya janamdin ke din kabhi Naina ko apne samne bardasth nahi kar paate. Muh se nahi kehte, par shayad bhabhi ki maut ke liye wo bhi Naina ko zimmedaar mante honge. Mujhe yeh sab badalna hai, unhe yeh samjhana zaroori hai ki har koi apni kismet lekar paida hota hai aur apna bhavishya khud savarta hai. Bete ki tarah betiyan bhi parivar ka naam roshan karne ki kshamta rakhti hai. Chachaji explained logically and continued "Meine Preeti se keh diya hai, Naina ko ghar le aaye, college ke baad, aur saare doston ko bhi.
Chachiji remembered something "Ji baaki dost toh theek hai, par Swati ko nahi bulana chahiye. When chachaji furrowed his eyebrows in confusion, she went on to narrate the whole Swati-Munna incident.
Chachaji was thoughtful for a minute and then said "Bela, zamana badal raha hai. Ladke ladkiyan agar saath mein padhte hai toh unme dosti hona swabhavik hai. Aur fir Munna Pandit toh school se hamari betiyon ke saath padhte hai. Aur Swati, wo toh Naina ki sabse pehli aur pakkiwali dost hai, mujhe nahi lagta ki wo kuch galat karegi...Aur hume apne bachchon par, apne sanskaron par, aur apni parvarish par vishwas karna chahiye. Tum fikr mat karo, Bhabhiji se mein baat kar loonga. Waise bhi aaj jo hua, uske baad agar Naina ke sabse karrebi dost uske saath nahi honge, toh uski khushi addori reh jaayegi. Iss baar hume uska yeh din ekdum khaas aur yaadgaar banana hai...huh? Ab so jao, kal subah bahut kaam hai. Instructed chachaji.

In the girls' room, Naina had wiped her tears in Chacha's presence to convince him that she as fine. But the moment they were both alone, Naina couldn't stop her emotions and started to weep again. Preeti tried consoling her, asking her to forget everything and not pay heed to Taiji's comments, but today Naina was really hurt. She couldn't stop blaming herself, a first in all her years.
"Sach hi toh keh rahi hai na Taiji, agar mein paida nahi hoti, toh aaj ma zinda hoti. Meri wajah se Arjun bhaiyaa ki bhi ma chin gayi! Sach hai, mein hi manhoos hoon iss parivar ke liye, bhaiyaa aur papa ke liye, ma ko nahi, mujhe mar jaana chahiye tha! A fresh bout of tears bursted again as if a dam broke loose and Naina closed herself in the bathroom.
Preeti's heart wrenched hearing her continuous sobs and after umpteen attempts also she couldn't make her leave the bathroom. She tried one last thing "Dekh Naina, ab tu rona bandh kar aur bahar aa, nahi toh mein papa ko bulakar laungi aur Rakesh tauji ko bhi. Even this didn't seem to work and her sobs grew louder.
Now there was nothing more left for to do, only someone else might be able to work his magic on her.
She stepped out of the room, ensuring that her parents were asleep, she tiptoed to the hall and called her magician. He picked up on the first ring. He had told Naina he would be late and might not call her tonight, so preparing some mental explanations, he spoke hesitantly "Hello.
"Jijaji came a usual screech from the other end. "Saaliji, aap? Mein thodi der mein niklunga, aapke yahan sab so gaye?
"Sab so gaye jijaji, par aapko abhi ana hoga...Naina ki halat bahut kharab hai.
Hearing Naina, all his senses were on full alert mode. "Kya hua Naina ko? Wo theek toh hai?
"Nahi jijaji, Naina bilkul theek nahi hai and Preeti narrated the whole incident. Sameer's rage was boiling and hands fisted, one around the cordless phone and the other hand balled as if ready to punch someone.
"Meine use shaant karne ki bahut koshish ki, par ek ghanta se apne aap ko bathroom mein bandh karke baithi hai aur roye ja rahi hai...use itna dukhi aajse pehle kabhi nahi dekha...aap please kuch karo, meri baat toh sun hi nahi rahi hai.
At Preeti's request, he took in a deep breath and blew out as if removing the toxic anger out of his system and assured her "Aap chinta mat karo, mein abhi aata hoon.

To be continued...Will update in a few hours.

Wow ... just wow!!!
Poles apart personalities in the same family. Such a caring sister and parents-like Chachaji - Chachiji, and such a loving and concerned partner Sameer; how can Naina think she is unlucky?? In fact she has all the luck to have such people by her side.

Update soon, waiting

So guys, here is part 2 of the birthday segment. The author is not responsible for butterflies in the stomach or feels in the gut and heart. Enjoy reading!

Part 10 - Birthday Surprise

"Tum logon ne gaadi mein sab rakh diya? Sameer asked them. May be all his plans were going to go for a toss, but he didn't care as long as he could take her worries away and just bring a smile on her face. He could bear and tolerate anything in this world but not a single tear in her eyes, specially out of pain.
They only nodded, but seeing his grim expression, Munna asked "Par hua kya hai bhai, abhi 2 second pehle tu itna gusse mein lag raha tha, ab achanak itna shaant?
"Tum log chalo mere saath, Sameer instructed MP to follow him immediately.
MP looked at each other but without further questions, silently followed him. He drove at jet speed but carefully and he wished he could just fly and reach there in less than a second.
He could scale the wall using the pipe to Naina's room on first floor, but he had asked Pandit to hide a ladder in the rumble behind the society for this specific purpose. He asked him to get it and placing it a 70 deg angle, started ascending it quickly in his hurry to get to his beloved.
Munna called out slowly in the deserted street "Arre aaram se bhai, gir gaya toh haddiyan thaile mein bharke le jaani padegi. Sameer slowed slightly, smiling at his friends' concern, but didn't pause and though it was not a great height, still enough to knock some breath out his lungs. Leaving the last 2 rungs, he jumped onto the balcony and quickly scanned around to check for any reaction from the neighbors due to this thud. He turned around, gave them a thumbs-up sign, indicating all ok and signaling to hide until he called out again. The boys removed the ladder and vanished from eyesight.
Preeti too heard the noise and came running to the balcony. Seeing him, her pupils dilated in excitement and happiness for her sister. "Aap toh shaktiman se bhi zyaada tezi se aa gaye? Sameer only smiled at her antics but his concern was Naina. His eyes darted to the room and he started moving inside. When he didn't see her, he gazed at Preeti, concern evident in whole being and asked only one question "Naina?
Preeti sadly pointed to the locked bathroom door from where muffled sobs were still audible. His gut wrenched, he wanted to bang open the door, but not before murdering someone, but he calmed down, just looked at Preeti, and she simply understood and moved outside to the balcony to give the couple some privacy. She was sure that now Naina would be well cared for.
Sameer walked slowly to the bathroom door and knocked twice in their usual two tap code. The sobbing stopped immediately as no matter in how much pain, Naina would always sense and know his presence. He smiled at their connection, knocked again similarly and placed his forehead on the door and whispered softly as if caressing her with his breath though the door.
"Naina...please bahar aa jao jaana! This was all she needed to calm the stormy emotional turmoil within her that had drowned her in sorrow in the last few hours. She couldn't believe at first that he was actually there and thought she had completely lost it and was hallucinating. But his words pulled her back to him from a fathomless abyss and she immediately opened the door.
Hearing the latch click, Sameer breathed a sigh of relief, but when she stepped out, he wasn't prepared for the sight that greeted him. Her eyes were all swollen, puffed, and red from hours of crying, tear-stained cheeks gave away her inner pain, the cute button-like nose was all puffy and she continuously inhaled loudly to control the running nose and her fingers had fidgeted with the dupatta of her favorite chicken-work light pink night salwar suit that it had crumpled. She was looking a mess and he fell all the more in love with her. She still looked the cutest and the loveliest person on earth but it broke his heart in zillion pieces to see her in so much pain. He wished he could just undo everything in a jiffy and wished that he was the magician, Preeti always claimed him to be.
He stepped closer to her and lovingly held both her hands in his and softly caressed her knuckles with his thumbs. Naina looked up at him and finally a few words fell out of her mouth "T..tum yahan? Iss waqt? Shayad mein koi sapna dekh rahi hoon. She answered her own questions as if talking to herself.
"Toh mujhe apne saare sapne de do, mein sabko sach kar doonga, Sameer whispered to her bending and leaning his face closest to hers.
Naina' eyes whipped to him as if jerked back from some lost land, so Sameer continued "Mere saath chalogi?
Now, Naina was back to her guarded self "Iss waqt? Kahan?
"Hamare sapnon ki duniyan mein? Sameer answered.
Seeing the confusion and question in her eyes, he continued "Apne Sameer par bharosa hai na?
Even if she would be drowning to her death, she wouldn't ever allow him to think that she had an iota of doubt in him, so she answered immediately "Puri duniya se zyaada and a small smile curved at the corner of her mouth and Sameer smiled at her with love-filled eyes. He knew his Naina trusted him implicitly and now it was up to him to show her his love, care, and support above and beyond all.
He tugged her hand towards the balcony. In her usual sense, although she trusted him, would have asked a million questions and might even have denied a night adventure. But today she was vulnerable and for once, she didn't care about the society rules and family name. Just this one time, could she do what her heart desired, just be with him? He rarely ever demanded anything from her, and today while her heart yearned to talk to him and see him, she remembered that today only he would not be available, but he had appeared magically as if god gifted her her own miracle on this fateful day.
Preeti was patiently waiting for them and seeing her sister, she hugged her tightly, and thanked him "thank you Jijaji...ab khayal rakhna iska. He simply nodded, smiled, and then made a bird's whistle sign. His friends appeared from nowhere with a ladder in hand and placed it leaning on her balcony as before.
He started descending. After 4 rungs, when he saw Naina hesitating, "Daro mat Naina, nahi girogi, mein hoon na! (hihihihi...the movie hadn't released yet, but this was an all-time favorite line of all boyfriends in those days).
She placed her complete faith in him and with Preeti's help, who had already placed her bellies in the balcony long back to avoid going outside, started descending slowly, Sameer would pause after every 2 rungs to ensure she was ok, while MP had a firm grip on the sides at the bottom. On the final 4 rungs, he held her hand tight, and helped her down. When she had a firm foot on the ground, he hugged his friends and whispered a thank you, who whispered good luck to him, and indicated all ok to Preeti, who would manage Naina's absence until morning. Sameer then thanked his stars for giving him a strong support system in his friends and Preeti.
He opened the passenger door, placed his hand in the small of her lower back and ushered her slightly inside, and she without thinking anything, got in the front. He closed the door and smiled thinking that though Naina had sat in his car twice before, once while distributing Pooja didi's wedding cards and another on the first day of college, both times, she was in the backseat. This was the first she was in the front, with him, closest to him, and they were all alone.
He came around, hopped in and both turned to look at each other and were lost in their love-filled intense eye-lock. After a few seconds, Sameer broke the trance "Chale? she smiled and shook her head in a yes. He looked at his watch and did a mental math and started driving.
The drove in silence for 20 min. Naina enjoyed by staring out in the darkness that engulfed her in soothing tranquility, washing away all her sorrows. The cool night calmed her down and the warmth exuding off Sameer ensconced her in safety and security. Every often when he turned to gaze at her, he smiled with only love in his eyes, cementing her faith in him being her soulmate. Finally, they drove towards a wild path and Naina questioned, "Hum kahan ja rahe hai Sameer?
He teased her "Wahiii...jahan koi...aata jaata...nahi... and giggled. Naina grinned widely too at his playfulness.
In a few minutes, they reached the edge of the forest at the foot of a hillock. Sameer came around, opened her door and they started walking. After 5 minutes, he stopped and pointed her the direction "Naina, uss taraf aage jao, mein abhi aaya.
"Par tum kahan ja rahe ho Sameer? Mujhe akele darr lagta hai.
"Arre daro mat Naina, yahan koi jaanwar nahi hai...tum chalo mein abhi aaya. When she was still not convinced, he lifted his right-hand pinky finger. Naina gave a you-are-impossible look and walked ahead in the direction he indicated.
She came upon a flat land after a few minutes, and though it was dark, the full moonlight was enough to indicate the serene surroundings and that the hillock overlooked Sabarmati and the night lights of the city of Ahmedabad situated around it. The quiet rendered her the peace she was seeking for and the slight cool breeze cooled her anxieties of the impending future.
As she neared the railing to gaze out, lights came up suddenly all around her, the mirchi lights on one side strung with the help of swaying branches and on leaves, flared into the most cliched slogan but never enough for any lovers no matter uttered gazillion times "I LOVE YOU. She was so happy, smiled ear-to-ear and when her eyes started to turn misty, another set of lights went up with a green yellow glow coming imparted by the shadow of the leaves and the contrast against the moon light into "WILL YOU MARRY ME?
Her eyes widened in a surprised shock, and tears started flowing freely. Then, she sensed him as the slight soothing breeze blew around her soothing her again and turned around. Sameer was down on one knee, with all the love for her in his eyes with a promise of togetherness till eternity and beyond. He removed a soft blue velvet case from his pant pocket, pulled a very thin plain silver band out of it, held her left hand in his "Naina, jab se tum meri zindagi mein aayi ho, meri upar upar ki khali si zindagi puri badal gayi hai. Tumne usme pyar ke rang bhar diye, bejaan Sameer ke dil ko dhadakna sikha diya. Tumhare pyar ke alava ab kisi cheez ki zaroorat mehssos nahi hoti, mujhe hamesha ke liye apna banana ke liye mujhse shaadi karogi Naina?
The tears wouldn't stop flowing and she felt like the world's happiest girl, all she could do was nod vigorously, fulfilling and completing the other soul kneeling in front of her. He slipped the ring on her ring finger, grinned widely, stood up, held both her hands when more lights came up, lending an ethereal glow to the place and soft music started flowing out and some English singer crooning the age old Happy Birthday song. She was so surprised and when she looked around, saw the other part of the place, decorated in multicolored balloons and swirlers. A small swing with backrest was adorned with her favorite pink roses and white lilies. How he had managed these flowers in this season was beyond her comprehension.
When the song was over, Sameer pulled her closer to him and checked his watch, the hands completing the round, indicating exact 12.00 o'clock and he wished her "Happy Birthday Sweetheart!
"Thank you Sameer...Itna achcha surprise dene ke liye. Tumhe pataa tha aur yaad tha...mere liye yahi kaafi hai!
"Abhi aur bhi surprises hai. When she crinkled her brows in confusion, he tugged one hand and pulled her along under the tree where he had carefully laid out the goodies on the mat spread out on the ground. He asked her to sit and open the box. She carefully did and was surprised to see a beautiful chocolate cake with pink heart-shaped icing and 18 candles around the cake. He lighted each of them. She then blew them, while he clicked some pictures, she cut the cake and fed him the first bite. It was the first time she ever fed him anything with her own hands. He also did not miss the opportunity and immediately fed another piece to her, both reminisced their first such instance when each cut the cake and fed each other but in plates at Sameer's birthday. Now they had come far along and were comfortable feeding each other by hands. While chewing, her one eye and brow twitched slightly and it didn't go unnoticed by him.
"Kya hua Naina, cake achcha nahi hai? He was worried that even after endless tries, he had goofed up something.
Seeing his worried look, she soothed immediately "cake bahut achcha hai.
He wasn't satisfied "Nahi, mujhe pataa hai, dukaan jitna achcha nahi hoga... Then, he muttered to himself itni koshish karne ke baad bhi achcha nahi bana. But Naina was so attuned to him, she heard it and was pleasantly shocked.
"Kya, tumne ye cake ghar par banaya? Khud? When he nodded hesitantly, she broke out into a wide smile "Mere liye? Par kyon?
"Yaad hai, jab mein tumse naaraz tha, toh tumne mujhe manane ke liye khud cake banakar bheja tha, fir khud mere liye sweater buna tha...aur na jane kitni baar tumne mere liye kitna kuch special kiya hai. To iss baar mein tumhe surprise dena chahta tha.
"Sameeerrr...she was so overwhelmed with emotions...I love you and it was enough to make him forget his goofs and bring a wide smile.
"Hmmm...tumhare liye ek cheez aur hai...I hope tumhe pasand aaye, he hesitated but pulled out a gift-wrapped package from the picnic basket and handed it to her.
Enthusiastically but carefully, she opened the gift paper and found a book-like frame. She opened it and was astounded to see what was inside. She was sitting on her knees and haunches. Her feet gave way and she slumped on the ground on her seat. Sameer immediately slipped next to her and hesitantly placed his arm around her shoulder and lightly caressed it. Her eyes filled with tears and started spilling slowly first and then continuously. On one side, there was a picture of her mom holding a five-day-old in her lap and on the other side, she was a part of the family consisting of her papa, mummy, Arjun bhaiyya, and herself. Finally, she hugged the picture to her bosom and cried uncontrollably, she body quaking with sobs. Sameer pulled her to him, rubbed her shoulder, placed his hand on hers clutching the frame and let her vent out years of pain and sorrow bottled up inside. It hurt him to see her like this but it was necessary to allow her to let it out, so she could regain her lost confidence and move ahead.
After a few minutes, when her sobs subsided, he gave her his pristine white handkerchief. Whilst once she had thrown it away on the floor (at her house during Naina manao track), today she gladly accepted it and wiped her tears and handed him back. He neatly locked the wet side in to treasure the precious gems and carefully placed it back in his pocket.
Naina looked back at the frame, contoured the outline of her mom and then her family "Yeh meri life ka sabse anmol gift hai Sameer...thank you sooo much..., she gazed at him with so much appreciation and gratefulness. "Par Sameer, yeh tumne kiya kaise? Mummy ke saath meri aisi photo? Matlab, aisi koi photo nahi thi
"Computers ke baarein mein suna hai na?
"Haan, par zyaada nahi jaanti.
"Unhi machines ka kamaal hai. Meri Nainital ke school mein ek bahut achcha dost tha, Kabir, usne ek baar bataya tha ki uska koi cousin yahan Ahmedabad mein studio chalata hai, par koi mamooli studio nahi, modern photography aur designing wala. Wo bahar ke deshon se inn sab nayi techniques ke baarein pataa karta hai, fir unhe yahan mangvakar, computer mein naye programs daalkar seekhta hai aur naye ideas lagata hai. Modeling aur film photography ke liye aksar Bombay aata jaata rehta hai. Buss usi se contact kiya aur use apna idea bataya, fir Preeti se kehkar tumahre ghar se yeh photos nikalwayi, uss din Munna aur Swati bhi isi chakkar mein pakde gaye the. Par pure ek hafte ki koshish ke baad, kuch programs ki madad se, hum yeh do alag alag phots ko jodkar ek mein print karne mein kamyaab ho gaye. Tumhari original photos aur negatives hai mere pass ghar par, baad mein lauta dunga. Ma ki kami toh puri nahi ho sakti par yeh ke koshish hai meri taraf se tumhe unke hone ka ehsaas dilane ki. (Yes guys, I know, photoshop and coral draw were not common in 90s, but they were not non-existent. Only those thoroughly interested knew about it and learnt to use it).
She nodded as if accepting the new piece of knowledge and then looked back at the most precious gift ever and then continued questioning "Aur yeh sab kab aur kaise kiya? Waise tumhe mere birthday ke baare mein pataa kaise chala?
He carefully left out his previous plan because disclosing the reason for the revised plan would mean disclosing Chachaji's surprise party tomorrow. He couldn't take that away from her father figure and so he kept mum and diverted the topic.
"Naina, ek aakhri surprise aur hai... he removed the final thing, the card, and gave it to her. She carefully opened it and looked at own pictures, she never thought she looked so beautiful, she had never admired herself, but he had cut each one to precision and brought each of her expression to life. Then, she read his wish words and smiled whole-heartedly coz they mirrored her own desire to be with him till eternity.
Seeing her getting emotional once again, Naina, chalo mere saath dance karo, fir hum kuch aur pictures click karenge aur inn palon ko bhi aise hi yaadgaar banayenge. He had prepared a medley of their favorites from MPK, QSQT, and Aashiqui, all time romantic hits. He got up and pulled her along for a dance. Initially, they danced normally, but when the title song of MPK played, he pulled her in for a slight sway, removed her hear tie, freeing her soft wavy hair that slided like silk on his hand, and while his one hand grasped her in a soft romantic grip, and her other hand was on his shoulder, he urged to place his other hand on her waist. Looking into her eyes, he seeked permission and when he felt confident, he slowly moved it down from her shoulder to her waist, still giving her chance to back off if she felt uncomfortable. But the look in her eyes reflected his own emotions that after tonight's proposal something had changed between them. They had grown leaps and bounds in their relationship and had come to trust each other completely, fully, whole-heartedly.
The touch stroked something inside Naina, giving her goosebumps, she felt something like never before. It was similar to the feeling like the other day in the library, but this was so much more. It was a very intimate gesture and only he was allowed to be this close to her touching her in the forbidden territory. They kept gazing into each other's eyes as if seeking and wanting a lot more but not being able to define it. They were just lost into each other for time undefined as it just stopped in the beautiful moment for them.
A wild fire was igniting inside him, waiting to be unleashed, his hand on her waist scorched him inside out and his heart screaming to his brain to regain control. But the battle was lost and he started leaning his face towards her, all the while screaming inside himself "Naina, isse pehle ki mei saara control kho doon, please rok lo mujhe.
As if she understood his inner struggle, she broke the trance that minute, "Waise yeh sab kahan se seekha tumne?
"Kya? Dance karna?
"Nahi... matlab wo bhi...matlab... mujhe pataa hai tum achcha dance karte ho, par yeh aaj jo shaadi wali baat ki tumne, yeh iss alag tareeke se? and she removed her hand from his clasp and admired the band again "Aur waise, yeh angoothi khareedne ke paise, matlab chandi hai toh mehngi hogi na, she had a slight worried expression on her face.
"Yeh meine ek English film mein dekha tha...hero apni heroine ko ghutne ke bal jaake shaadi ke liye propose karta hai...Fir heroine mana nahi kar sakti... He winked at her and she grinned.
"Aur iss angoothi ki chinta mat karo, mujhe kharche ke liye jo paise milte hai, us mein se bachakar khareedi hai...Waise pataa hai, English films mein dikhate hai ki shaadi ke liye propose karte samay heere ki angoothi phenate hai He took both her hands in his and looked lovingly at his ring that adorned her finger "ek din jab apne paise kamaoonga, tab heere ki pehnaoonga, I promise.
She caressed it lovingly... "Mere liye toh ye bahut anmol hai. Waise ye angoothi isi ungli mein kyon pehnate hai? Her inquisitive nature got the better off her.
Sameer shrugged "Yeh toh ab tak kisi film mein nahi bataya (Well DDLJ hadn't released yet and they had to wait 4 more years to clarify the filmy reason ).
She suddenly remembered the jhula "Sameer, jhule pe baithe? He knew it was her favorite thing. He had observed countless times in school and also when he had stayed at the Agarwal house, she would always swing whenever no one occupied it. It gave her a different zeal that was unmatched to any other except when he was close to her.
She ran and sat on it and started swinging and he grabbed a bottle of cola from the ice box and two straws, popped it open and gave it to her inserting two straws in it. Again, it was a first, they had shared a cola during the Sangeet but not at the same time, which both recollected and gazing intensely into each other's eyes shared the cola form the same bottle. The slight sipping and sucking sounds that Naina made was stoking another fiery passion inside him. The beautiful romantic night was turning out to be a battle to control his passion around her and she was not helping at all. He placed his hand on hers where she was holding the bottle and continued to stroke the back of her fingers with his thumb. Result, he saw the same fiery passion and desire flare in her eyes but he knew she wouldn't be aware about it and wouldn't know how to act on it. He wished he could, but he had to give Naina some time before progressing on the next step of intimacy. Today had been an emotional roller coaster for her and there was no way he was taking advantage of her vulnerable state. He was confident that she would give in very easily to his advances but he wanted her to want the same when they were stepping on the new rung of intimacy.
The air bubbles broke their intense eyelock, he put the bottle aside on the ground and sat comfortably on the swing holding hands fingers interlaced, simply gazing into each other, oblivious to the whole world around them.
As if Naina couldn't take that anymore, as she was drowning into emotions and overwhelmed by feelings unknown. She blushed, got up, and moved away to the railing to gaze out at the peaceful night, which was slowly coming alive. Sameer was content to look at her happy form and clicked some candid shots. He was excited to envision their future of happiness, every day together, and every night in each other's arms.
He furrowed his brows noticing that she rubbed her upper arms, shivering slightly indicating she felt the chill in the air. He got up, walked up to behind her, paused for a moment, and made a decision in another split second and started hugging her from behind by surrounding her waist slowly with his arms from each side resting on her kurta right on her belly. She shivered with the sudden intimate touch, his grip tightened thinking she felt cold, but exuding all the love he had for her, and placed his chin on her shoulder, clearing his intention to only be close to her and comfort her.
She stiffened as this was something very new for her, she had only seen it in movies and used to usually blush or close her eyes to avoid watching it while her sister teased her of being some sanyasan. Even after Sameer entered her life and although they were now together for almost 2 years, she felt shy watching such scenes, and Preeti would tease her that God help Jijaji, especially after marriage if she continued to react similarly.
He didn't let go but gave her time to adjust, after a while, she felt comfortable in his warm embrace. She never knew that it would be the most romantic thing or way they would ever hug. She wanted the time to stop and be with like this with him for eternity.
He felt her body relax and she slowly placed her hands on his indicating her comfort level with him in such closeness.
"Sameer, tumhe wo mount Abu wali raat yaad hai, jab hum tare dekh rahe the? Yahan se bilkul waise hi dikhte hai.
"Apni zindagi ki sabse pehli khoobsurat raat ko kaise bhool sakta hoon!
He loosened his grip and turned her around. Now was the right time, it was up to him to make this moment special for her, and from the looks of her, he knew he had succeeded. But as a partner he had another duty towards her, be her rock, support, and pillar of strength that she could lean on anytime, but she also needed to gain her own footing for which, he had to pull her out of the dark abyss of sorrow and self-pity.
Looking at his changed demeanor, but still love and confidence and warmth evident, she looked at him when he continued holding her hands "Naina, chahe aage hamari zindagi mein jo kuch bhi ho, tumhara Sameer hamesha tumhare saath hai. Tum meri jaan meri zindagi ho Naina. Nanu ke baad ab sirf tum hi ho mere jeene ki wajah. Tumhe pataa hai na tum mere liye kitni khaas ho, kya maayne rakhti ho? She only nodded slightly and he continued "Toh fir kabhi mat kehna ki mar jaati toh achcha hota! Naina was shocked that how he knew and then realized that definitely it was Preeti's doing.
"Naina, agar tum nahi toh tumhara Sameer bhi iss duniya mein nahi. She raised her hand to stop him and nodded vigorously and tightened her counter hold on his other hand.
"Naina, mein jaanta hoon ki ma ke bina jeena kaisa hota hai, par tum lucky ho ki tumahre paas, chacha-chachi hai jo tumhe mummy papa ki tarah pyar karte hai, Pooja didi aur Arjun bhaiyya jo itna laad karte hai, Preeti jaisi behen jo tumahre liye kisi bhi hadd tak ja sakti hai, Swati aur Munna Pandit bhi, jo tumhare liye mujhse bhi lad lete hai that brought a smile to her face. "Itne saare pyar karnewale hai log hai tumhe, fir tum manhoos kaise hui aur tumhi ne mujhe seekhaya tha na ki yeh sab bakwaas hota hai.
She looked down embarrassed at her own superstitious rubbish. "Naina, unn taron ko dekho, bachpan mein story books mein padha tha, ki saare achchi aatmayen wahan rehti hai jab tak iss duniyan mein aane ka waqt nahi ho jaata. Tumahri Mummy se toh kabhi nahi mil paaonga, par socho, tum unke liye kitni special hogi ki tumhe unn taaron se iss duniya mein lane ke liye unhone apni jaan ki parwah bhi nahi ki. Agar wo tumhe wahan se dekh rahi hai toh kitni dukhi hogi apni Naina ko itna udaas dekhkar.
"She shook her head again vigorously and tears started falling "Sorry Sameer and then she looked the stars and touched her ears in apology "Sorry Mummy. Chachaji hamesha kehte hai ki mere liye kisi khaas ko banaya hai bhagwan ne aur aap toh bhagwan ke itne paas ho, to iss khaas ko mere paas bhejne ke liye Thank you She looked at him and smiled through her tears.
"Sorry Sameer, buss aaj Taiji ki baat ne thoda dukhi kar diya toh na jaane kya kya utpatang sochne lag gayi. Agar Arjun bhaiyya ko pataa chalega toh pehle dou thappad marenge aur fir gale lagakar khoob royenge.
Sameer was also happy seeing her smile, so he teased her "Gale lagakar rone tak toh theek hai, par agar thappad maara, toh haath ukhad doonga saale ka.
Naina was flabbergasted, so he clarified "Arre...saale ko toh saala hi kahoonga na and earned a light smack on his shoulder.
Finally, the sound of their laughter reverberated in the valleys below.
The sky started to change color and they were witnessing their fist sunrise of a new journey. She turned to gaze out again and he hugged her from the back to enjoy the feel of her in his arms. "Waise Sameer, tumne ab tak bataya nahi yeh jagah kaunsi hai?
"Sweetheart...isse Indroda Park kehte hai. Hum Sabarmati ke eastside par hai, isse wild area maana gaya hai, par yahan koi jungli janwar nahi hai. Aur uss taraf Nature park hai, usse aur bada banaya ja raha hai GEER foundation ki taraf se. Gujarat Ecological and Research ek sarkari sanstha hai, jo Gujarat ke wildlife aur nature ko preserve karne ke liye sthapith ki hui hai. Chota tha tab ek baar Nanaji ke saath aaya tha, unhone kuch donation diya tha aise chote hills aur picnic spots banana ke liye, par zyaada logon ko abhi pataa nahi hai, din mein yeh jagah aur bhi khoobsurat lagti hai aur baarish mein aur bhi pyari, chaaron taraf sirf hariyali hoti hai. Hum baad mein kabhi din mein aayenge.
The sky changed colors and they clicked more pictures but due to overcast, they couldn't see the sun clearly, irrespective, their life together was filled with similar colors. When tired, she sat down on the swing again, this time cocooned in his arms that spoke of volumes of love. He remembered something suddenly "Waise Naina, tum jab bolo hum shaadi kar sakte hai, par mujhe 21 saal ka hone mein abhi dou saal hai, college khatam hone tak ka intezaar karna padega, par tum chinta mat karna, mein Taiji ko tumhara haath kisi aire gaire raah chalte ke haath mein dene nahi doonga...tumhara haath sirf mere haath mein aane ke liye hi bana hai.
Now Naina laughed and teased him "Soch lo, Taiji ke babaji ne kaha hai ki mein manhoos hoon meri kismet footi hai, aur jo mere saath rahega uski kismet bhi futt jaayegi.
He knew she was teasing him "Koi baat nahi, daadi bhi kehti ki mein manhoos hoon, toh dou manhoos milkar ek manoosiyat bhari zindagi pyar se guzar lenge, and he wiggled his brows at her and they both burst out laughing.
Just then dawn cracked and it was time for them to leave. "Chale Naina? She shook her head in a No and then slouched and with so much longing she expressed "Kaash aaj ka saara din mein tumhare saath bita paati with disappointment.
"Arre...hum thodi der mein college mein milenge na, he tried to cheer her up.
"Haan...par uske baad jaldi ghar jaana hai, Chachaji bata rahe the ki kuch khaas mehmaan aa rahe hai, toh class khatm hote hi jaldi se ghar jaana padega. And she hugged him and his arms enveloped her in his warmth.
Sameer's brain wheels started churning. His Naina, for the first time, out of her own volition had expressed to be with him all day, he will have to find a way to work his magic and fulfill her desires, not letting down Chachaji as well because he really respected him for fulfilling the need of a father for his Naina. After all, it was his life's mission that each of her wish was his command, and very few wishes she had in life. How could he not fulfill them?
"Naina, chale He freed her again from his embrace and started to get up when he felt a strong pull on his hand and he slumped back down.
"Tumne mere liye itna achcha surprise plan kiya, itne anmol tohfe diye, apna return gift nahi loge?
Sameer was confused but amused "Return gift? and he raised his brows in askance.
Naina slowly shifted from the swing seat on to his lap. He eyes widened in shock with the feeling of closeness and her boldness. But the comfort they had shared today, gave her the gumption to follow her heart. She slowly snaked her arms around his neck and in his hair and pulled him closer to her. Then she slowly wet both her lips with the tip of her tongue and angled close to him. Sameer couldn't rake his eyes off her lips and that action, "God...how was he supposed to control himself?
Sameer wasn't even sure of what was happening and before he understood, she placed her soft lips on his and gave him a small peck. She started to move away, when he gripped her waist ensconcing her in both arms and tightened his grip not allowing her to move. She had unleashed the reigned desires and the passion was ignited. It was her doing and now he wanted more.
"Naina...in voice laced with full passion. Gift toh lene wale ki pasand se diya jaata hai na.
She blinked and turned crimson and with eyes downcast "Par meine yeh pehle kabhi nahi kiya.
"Meine bhi... He voiced it and slowly placed his lips back on hers. With the slight pressure, she gasped and opened her moth. His tongue found the opening he needed, touching and licking every corner of her mouth and outside of her lips. He sucked and kissed on her tongue, she moaned and fisted in his hair with the new-found feelings. The onslaught on her senses was something she had never experienced and was too much to contain.
She moaned his name "Sameer... And he continued to tease, lick, touch her mouth, and suck her lips and continued kissing the corners of the lips. After what seemed like forever, they broke apart for breath, gazed into each other's eyes, touched their foreheads to calm down their racing heartbeats.
"Agar um mujhe aisa return gift dogi toh mein tumhare liye dher saare gifts laoonga roz. Isse achcha return gift toh ho hi nahi sakta. She blushed and he pecked her lips again and then as he couldn't help himself "I Love You Naina...Jaan ho meri tum.
"Tum bhi meri jaan ho Sameer, and I promise, hum hamesha saath rahenge. She held his hand in a firm grip and then looked at his tousled hair.
"mmm...Sameer... He too tried to look up in the direction she was looking "Wo tumhare baal kharab ho gaye, she spoke hesitantly thinking he would be irked because absolutely no one was allowed to touch them.
He smiled seeing her worried expression and pulled her a little closer "Sirf tumhe haq hai mere baal chune ka aur unhe kharab karne ka... When she smiled, he continued "Waise ek baat kahoon, aaj pehli baar tumne mere baalon mein haath phera, aur mujhe bahut zyaada achcha laga, aise hi karna hamesha.
She smiled shyly but happily and ruffled his hair again "Ab chale, warna Preeti ki class lag jaayegi.
They got up, packed up everything and started to leave, "Sameer yeh sab lights aur baaki...?
"Tum chinta mat karo, subah hone se pehle nikal jaayengi. Ab chalo, he carried the picnic basket and she carried the ice box and hand-in-hand they walked back to the car when daylight started streaming from the overcast sky, indicating their new journey towards a new beginning.
P.S: Hope that was long enough and worth the wait!
Part 3 of the birthday segment, will try to post until the weekend! Thank you for the patience. Please don't forget to like, vote, comment.
