And one thing that I wanna point out I'd we have certain tuning, as if you are in my mind, picking up the ideas and turning them in to realities. I always wanted to see Ronan fall for naina on the show since the both seemed alike at the time, both valedictorians, ad calm as cucumber, obidient. The idea teased me,since the thought of a jealous sameer made me go weak in the knees. And I always wanted to see, the pang, the angst, the helplessness, yet the courage to fight to be victorious in love, that comes with the situation.Haha...that's true yaar...we just think uncannily similar sometimes! And Rohan falling for Naina hasn't been covered in any other story till now, so I wanted to deviate from the all goody setup and bring in some twist! "Sameer...ek baat bolun..., Naina was sitting on the swing with the cordless in hand.
"I love you too...! she could hear the teasing smile in his voice.
"Wo nahi...! she exclaimed.
"Ohh...toh you don't love me? Sameer's pouted childishly.
"Hehe...of course I love you dumbo...vaise bhi main nahi to tumko jhelega kaun..., Naina giggled.
"Arey soch lo...bade sari ladkiyaan abhi bhi piche hain...ek to wo school wali Kamya hi...yaad hai! Sameer teased.
"Acha...lekin ring to tumne mujhe di hai...Kamya ko nahi! she riposted.
"Ohh to Kamya ko bhi de dun kya? he chuckled.
"Chup karo tum...! Naina snapped petulantly.
"Ek shart pe...pehle wo three magical words bolo! he smirked.
"Das baar to bolti hun...!
"Gyaravi baar bol do fir...!
"I...Love...You...Sameer...! Naina murmured into the phone.
"I Love You too darling!
"Sharam nahi aati...kaise words bol rahe ho...!
"Nah...nahi aati...aur kyun sharmaun...biwi ho tum meri...!
Naina blushed at his words, "hoon nahi...hone wali hoon...!
"Usme kya hai...ban hi jaogi...ab kiski majaal jo roke! Sameer uttered.
They sat listening to each other's breathing for a while, when Naina remarked, "main tumse kuch kehne wali thi na...!
"Bolo na jaan...! Sameer prodded.
"Sameer...hamari baat to ban gayi...lekin Arjun bhaiya to mujhse bade hain...unke kya...wo kab batayenge sabko unke aur Shefali ke baare mein...aur pata nahi aajkal dono ek dusre se baat bhi nahi kar rahe...lagta hai koi jhagda hua hai...maine Arjun bhaiya ko kayi baar puch ke dekh liya...Shefali ko bhi...lekin dono me se koi kuch bolne ko tayyar nahi! Par dono aise murjhaye huye hain...!
"Hain? Itna bada jhagda? Sameer pondered.
"Haan wo bhi do hafte ho gaye...! Bahot upset hain dono...tum please baat karke dekho na!
"Hmm...okay...main dekhta hun...tum stress mat lo okay...ab so jao...raat bahot ho gayi hai...!
"Good night Sameer...!
"Good night Naina!

Sameer had been ambling near Naina's society, but for a change, he wasn't waiting for Naina. He was out watching for Shefali. And finally he saw her carrying a bag of vegetables back to her home. She was actually looking rather down. The smile, that sheen, her chirpiness were all lost from her face.
Sameer walked upto her, but she didn't seem to notice. She was lost in some other world.
"Shefali?...Hi! Sameer waved his hand in front of her.
"Sameer? She took in a moment to register him and then gave him a faint smile, "hi! Naina to shopping pe gayi hai Bela chachi aur Preeti ke saath!
"Jaanta hun...par aaj main Naina se nahi...tumse milne aaya hun...! Sameer said seriously.
"Mujhse? Shefali was surprised.
"Haan Shefali...kya hua hai tumko? he enquired.
"Mujhe? Kuch bhi to nahi...I'm fine!
"Bhai bolti ho na mujhe...? Bhai ko nahi bataogi?
"Sameer aisa kuch nahi hai...wo Naina ne tumko pata nahi kya bol diya hoga...
"Arjun se jhagda hua hai? Sameer interjected.
The mention of his name pulled Shefali into silence.
"Hmmm...matlab jhagda hua hai...! You can trust me Shefali...yeh baat main Naina ko bhi nahi bataunga...I promise..batao toh problem kya hai...shayad main help kar sakun!
Shefali shook her head. "Ab koi help nahi kar sakta Sameer!
Sameer was alarmed. This didn't look good.
Shefali realized they were standing outside their society, in full view of the peeping aunties and uncles desperate for tidbits of any conversation between a girl and a boy around.
"Chai piyoge...ya coffee?
Sameer understood her concern and nodded, "coffee chalegi.
A few minutes later, Sameer sat on the sofa watching Shefali stirring the sugar in her coffee, a pained expression on her face.
"Arjun ne kya kaha Shefali? Sameer broached the topic again.
"Sameer...! Shefali looked up and then braced herself. "Arjun aur main ab saath nahi hain!
"Kya? Sameer almost spilled the coffee onto himself. "Pagal ho gayi ho kya...! he placed the cup back onto the table and looked at her bewildered.
All of a sudden, her resolve broke with the revelation and Shefali broke into tears.
Sameer darted over to her side and patted her head awkwardly, unsure of what to do when a female other than Naina was crying. With Naina, he always had the option of embracing her in a tight hug, till she felt assured.
He sat besides her as Shefali narrated the entire episode of them running away and Arjun's chickening out and then making strange demands about conversion and the final backing out.
"Saala...usne abhi tak sorry bhi nahi bola tumko...Shefali...I'm sure ki...,
Shefali cut him off. "No Sameer...it's over now...main ek aise aadmi ke saath kaise zindagi guzaar paungi jisme himmat nahi ki wo apne pyaar ka iqraar apne gharwalon ke saamne kar sake...jo mujhe badalna chahta hai...You know Sameer...main hamesha sochti thi...ki shaadi ke baad hamari pehli Diwali kaisi hogi...hum Holi pe kya karenge...hum mandir saath jaa payenge ke nahi...hamare bacche kaunsa dharam maanenge...maine to decide kiya tha...main non-veg bhi chod dungi...and you know how much I love chicken...lekin Arjun ne kabhi yeh nahi socha ki hum Chirstmas pe kya karenge...hum Church saath mein jayenge ya nahi! Sameer pyaar mein dharm kaise aa gaya...agar tum aur Naina alag religions ke hote...different castes ke hote...to kya tum Naina ko chod dete...ya use zabardasti convert karne ko bolte...sirf isliye ki tumhare gharwale mujhe thukra na paaye? Tell me Sameer...are all men the same?
Sameer shook his head. "Nahi Shefali...tum theek keh rahi ho...!
Sameer was at a loss for words, and the silence was racked with Shefali's sobs. He knew Naina and Arjun's family was too orthodox to accept a Christian daughter-in-law. Why, he was from the same caste, same social strata- still they had objected vehemently. A part of Sameer wondered what would Chachaji's reaction be to this situation. But the fact remained the same. Arjun and Shefali both knew what they were getting into when they decided to pursure their relationship. It wasn't a mere infatuation he knew. Arjun had definitely seemed very much in love with Shefali. And regardless of what the orthodox ladies of the society said, Sameer knew that Shefali was a decent and a loyal girl, who loved Arjun beyond anything. Arjun had really broken her faith in him, or else Shefali wouldn't even dream of giving up on their relationship. But what could be the solution to this? He had to speak to Arjun. Seized with a sudden rage, Sameer jumped from his chair and moved to the telephone.
"Kise phone kar rahe ho? Shefali exclaimed.
"Arjun ko...uski akal thikane lagani hai! he responded as the phone in Taiji's home began to ring.
Taiji picked up the phone, "helloo..., she exclaimed sweetly as she adjusted the pallu of her saree.
"Wo Arjun sir hain kya..., Sameer let out a squeaky voice, "main coaching se unka student bol raha hun...!
"Haan beta...ek minute..., Taiji placed her fat palm over the mouthpiece and shouted, "Arjuuunnn...arey o cirket kumar...tumhara phone hai...kisi student ka hai lo pakdo!
"Matlab phone bhi sabke hum hi uthaye yahan pe..., Taiji handed him the phone and waded into the kitchen grumbling.
"Hello...kaun bol raha hai?
"Sameer bol raha hun...das minute mein niche Shefali ke ghar pe aao...varna main upar aa jaunga!
"Shefali ke ghar..., Arjun hissed. "Main busy hun abhi...!
"Arjun main serious hun...main upar aake sabke saamne wo baatein nahi karna chahta...please niche aao!
Arjun looked around and said, "theek hai...wahin ruko...aata hun! And he slammed the receiver back in place.
Ten minutes later, there was a strange lull in the living room of Shefali's house. At one corner stood Arjun, his hands in his pockets, looking remorseful at the tears in Shefali's eyes. Shefali had her back to him, determinedly peering out the window at an electric lamp post, which seemed to interest her infinitely more than the inhabitants of the room. Sameer stood with his hands crossed across his chest, looking extremely displeased.
"Hmmm..., Sameer coughed and Arjun's attention turned to him.
"Bolo Sameer...kya issue hai? Arjun asked calmly.
"Actually Arjun... meri family keh rahi hai ki Naina Agarwal hai aur hum Maheshwari...so gotra hamara same hai...I guess we cannot get married! Sameer explained just as coolly.
"Kya? Par kal to tumhari puri family ache se milke gaye...achanak se yeh gotra kahan se aa gaya? Arjun was looking incredulously.
"Actually wo log meri zidd pea aye the kal...aur unhe Naina pasand bhi hai..lekin sham ko panditji ko kundliyan dikhayi to wo bole ki ladki ek to Agarwal hai...dusri mangal pradhan hai...mere upar sankat hai...to mere gharwalon ne faisla kiya hai ki wo Naina se meri shaadi nahi hone de sakte...wo log aaj sham ko chachaji ko call karke inform kar denge... main sabse pehle tumhe batana chahta tha...samajh nahi aa raha Naina ko kaise bataun..., Sameer elaborated ruefully.
Arjun looked as if a brick had smashed right into his face, while Shefali turned to look at Sameer- her expression horrified at Sameer's words. She couldn't believe it that Sameer could dump Naina like this!
"Saale...kaise bataun...? Arjun dashed over to where Sameer stood, and held his collar, his face controrted with a mad fury. "Kaise bataun...teri himmat kaise huyi...arey aaj tak to tu Naina se yahi kehte aaya hai na...jo bhi ho jaye to shaadi usse hi karega...aaj gotra aur mangal dikhne lage tujhe...seedhe seedhe kyun nahi kehta man bhar gaya hai tera...ya koi aur mil gayi hai...? Arjun hollered as he shook Sameer fiercely.
"Arjun please try and understand...I love Naina...main khud usse shaadi karna chahta hun...but same gotra mein shaadi nahi ho sakti...upar se kundli ka chakkar...! Sameer coerced.
"Kundli ka chakkar...arey kundli mein khot hai to pehle dekhna tha na...use pyaar ke jaal mein uljhaane se pehle...kya mangal pradhan ladkiyon ki shaadi nahi hoti?
"Arjun aaram se yaar...chodo mujhe! Sameer struggled out of his grasp.
"Tujhe puri duniya mein meri hi behen mili thi...usi ka dil todna tha tujhe? Arjun groaned.
"Aur tujhe puri duniya mein ek meri behen mili thi? Sameer spat.
Arjun froze, looking at Sameer in bewilderment and then his eyes found Shefali, who herself seemed surprised by Sameer's words. And then realization dawned on them both.
Sameer pressed his hands over Arjun's and freed his collar, all the while looking at him coldly in the eye.
"Ab pata chala kaisa lagta hai...?
Arjun remained mum.
"Arjun...main teri tarah fattu bilkul nahi hun...chahe Naina aur mera gotra same ho ya alag...chahe uski kundli bhari ho ya meri...agar wo Hindu na bhi hoke Christian ya Musalmaan hoti...to bhi...to bhi main uska saath kabhi nahi chodta...saccha pyaar karne wale kisi se nahi darte Arjun...kisi se nahi! Sameer berated as Arjun looked on abashedly.
"Maine teri behen ko chodne ki baat ki to tera dil dard se karaha utha...Shefali meri behen hai...soch mujhe kaisa laga hoga jab tune uska saath chod diya...agar main Naina ke saath aisa kuch karta na to tu mujhe kabhi maaf karta?
Arjun understood the reason why Sameer had pulled on this charade. Shefali looked at both of them and unable to restrain her tears, she averted her eyes from Arjun.
Arjun sighed and slowly ambled over to where Shefali stood. Shefali moved away. Arjun clasped her hand in his own, but Shefali tried to free it from his grip. Arjun turned to look at Sameer, who having got the hint, smiled and left the room.
All would be well now.

Everyone looked up at Rakesh in disbelief. A wave of shock pierced Naina. She felt her limbs weaken and her heart shudder with fear. Preeti helped her down onto a chair nearby, much too shocked herself to say anything.
After a few moments, when everyone seemed to have realized that Rakesh wasn't joking, which anyways he seldom did, the family members grouped in Anand's house started pounding him with questions.
"Yeh aap kya keh rahe hain bhai sahab? Anand voiced, while Bela looked disconcerted, "bhagwaan jhoot na bulaye bhaisahab, aise kaise saadi nahi hogi...wo log khud rista pakka kar ke gaye hain!
"Rakesh tumhara dimag to thikane pe hai? hollered Tauji.
Taiji screamed, "O bai... ek toh daan dahej ka paisa hai nahi...ladki mein koi surkhab ke par lage hain kya...shaadi nahi hogi...aise kaise nahi hogi...kya burayi hai ladke mein...arey diya leke dhundhoge to bhi nai milega aisa ladka...wo bhi Naina ke liye! Baat karte hain!
"Taiji aap hamesha baat Nain ape kyun le aati hain...! Preeti's dissent was immediately dismissed by her aunt.
"Par papa kyun...? squeaked Naina, unable to help herself.
"Kyun puch rahi hai tu...tu? Rakesh yelled, and dashed to her side and planted a tight slip onto her cheeks. Anand rushed to protect Naina.
"Kyun puchti hai...arey khandaan ka naam kharab kar diya...us bigdail ke saath rangraliyaan mana rahi thi itne saal...theek hamari naak ke niche aur puchti hai kyun? his eyes were red with rage, while Naina whimpered.
Taiji for once, looked a taken aback by the usage of words by Rakesh, and Tauji commanded him to mellow down at once.
"Rakesh...kya anaap shanap bake jaa rahe ho...maana hamare ghar mein prem vivaah ki reet nahi hai...lekin agar itna acha rishta khud chalke aata hai...hamare Marwari parivaar se...to dakiyanusi soch ko leke chalna murkhata hai! he tried to drill sense into him.
"Unke saath rishta judne se hamein, hamari vakalat ko kitna fayeda hoga...hamari rishtedaaron mein kitni izzat badhegi...aur kal ko Preeti ka byah bhi to karna hai na...kya pata unke hi kisi rishtedaar ke saath baat ban jaye!
Preeti was about to say she wasn't interested, but bit her lip.
Rakesh stood stoic, "wo ladka Naina ke liye theek nahi hai!
"Theek nahi hai? Aise kaise theek nahi hai...kitna acha ladka to hai wo bhaisahab! Anand exclaimed.
"Paise wala hai...khoobsurat hai...bade parivaar se hai to acha hai? Rakesh countered. "Ek baat batao Anand...usne khud ke dam pe ab tak kiya kya hai...uska baap bhi sautela hai...kal ko agar uska sara hissa, karobaar hadap liya toh kya meri beti sadak pe aa jayegi? Aur chalo aisa na bhi ho to bhi kya Sameer is layak hai ki wo apne Nana ka karobaar sambhal sake?
Naina was about to retaliate by saying that Sameer was indeed capable and was working hard towards it too. But then thought the better of it- knowing her father, she knew that countering him will infuriate him further.
"Sau baton ki ek baat...har chamakne wali cheez sona nahi hoti...aur haan bhabhiji aap..., he turned to Bina, "ye mat samajhiyega ki meri beti hai to aap ise kisi ke bhi gale bandh sakti hain...iska baap zinda hai aaj bhi!
Bina grimaced under the onslaught.
"Bhaisahab...aap Sameer ko ek mauka to dijiye...mujhe lagta hai wo dheere dheere apni jimmedari sambhal lega...abhi to bacha hai wo..., Bela was cut-off by Rakesh again.
"Bacha? Yeh bacha school me cigarette peeta tha...pucho isse..., he pointed at Naina, "...aur ab na jaane sharaab, gutka...pata nahi kaun kaunsa nasha karta hoga...ameer logon ka kuch keh sakte hain...paisa hai to maa baap ko bacchon pe dhyaan dena zaruri nahi lagta! Rakesh finished vehemently.
