Rakesh's jealousy and anger is more towards Sameer as he is Maheshwariji's grandson.

But then Rakesh has always been this bitter and evil.

He looks down upon people below himself in stature, as unwanted insects, and he is extremely jealous of people who are more successful than him.

Basically he hates every person on this planet except his son.

Even his own daughter hardly has any importance in his life.

Sameer's father, Rakesh has an inferiority complex. It doesn't help that both his siblings are successful in life and respected too. He would never be able to forget this insult, though it was entirely Rakesh's fault. His false ego would be tremendously hurt when Arjun and Naina stand upto him and decide to lead their own lives.

As a father, he wants Arjun to succeed, only because he considers Arjun to be the answers to all his problems. He wants to be rich and famous so everyone in the family respect him! But can respect be bought? It has to be earned, isn't it?
