From past few episodes have been seeing that our couple is too much into flowers. So thought why not make a post on that.
Its bit long but hope you are not disinterested.
It seems like common knowledge that roses symbolize love, but have you ever wondered where flower meanings come from? Lets explore.
The rise of flower symbolism during 18th-19thCentury makes sense, as it was the height of the Romantic era where nature was seen as beauty, and people were heavily influenced by their emotions.
Floriography' allows for a tangible exchange of these emotions.
Coming to first flower-ROSE-
Roses are most commonly associated with love and romance but are more than that---
Roses can also mean secrecy or confidentiality. Romans would hang roses from the ceilings of banquet halls, and it was understood that anything said under the influence of wine was to remain confidential.
Roses are also used on four tarot cards. The Fool, the Magician, the Strength card, and the Death card. On the Fool, the white rose symbolizes purity and is a reminder to cleanse the mind. On the Magician card, it signifies unfolding wisdom. On the Strength card the rose represents balance. And on the Death card it's a reminder of purity, clarity, and transparency of intent.
So is Sameer and Naina's relation-Pure, Unfolding wisdom, balance and transparent in intent.
Sameer has given two roses until now to her-A burgundy-red one and pink one.
A burgundy-red rose-A bright red rose flower means a love life that is fulfilled, while a burgundy rose implies a one-sided romance that has yet to be accepted. It was not the bright rose rather a burgundy one which symbolized his forgiveness which he wanted for himself to get ridden off his guilt and not heal Naina's heart.
A Pink rose-Pink carries with it the connotation of grace and elegance, as well as sweetness and poetic romance.Pink roses are symbolic of gratitude and appreciation, and are a traditional way to say thanks.
Sameer was bowled by her grace and elegance and appreciated it.The way she let him put the flower it was his way of thanking her for accepting him finally.
Next comes Marigold-
Marigold is mostly used in worships and auspicious beginnings. The 'varmaalas' or jaimaalas' have marigolds in plenty.
Aside from being offered as a sacrifice to gods from Christian, Aztec, Buddhist, Hindu, and Pagan religions, this little flower has strong ties to the sun and its power to resurrect.
The sunny color and beauty gives the flower a meaning of optimism and success .It is representative of prosperity and a long life.
The marigold symbolise that even the humblest creations contain their own special beauty to share with the world. Just like the sun returns in full each summer and hides away in the winter, you must find your own balance between shining and keeping your light under wraps.
Same is with Sameer and Naina. They can only put marigolds on each other when they are able to ace the art of balancing between shining and keeping under wraps.
The bond that will last for life time and beyond with this compatibility.
The idea behind balance and love is that you create a life that prioritizes BALANCE. When we create balance, we feel more love in our lives. Not just from others, but from ourselves because when you love what you are doing, you are happier and can experience self love.
You have to intend and prioritize balance, and with that amount of love, you are giving to each category, you will be filled with love and exude it. This model of self care is one that is a life long lifestyle. This method will ease the burden all of the unpleasant things in life. The very things we can not control will seem bearable and not seem insurmountable.
Balance and Love, these 2 words are the secret to HAPPINESS...
After all Happiness is what we seek at the end of the day.So present your loved ones with a rose today or a marigold and seal the happiness.
On a side note-
Flowers can also symbolise sexuality. In classical ages women (especially virgins)were compared to flowers. It carried till Elizabethan and Victorian times.
The flowers can symbolise the blossoming maturity in the teenage period they are passing through. They are blossoming gradually both in age, relationship and understanding. Hence there are shades of childishness infused with maturity. They have still a long away to go before they bloom by each other in full glory and spread the fragrance.
This is my take on the flowersđł,share your opinions as well.
This is a beautiful addition by Moumita-
A rose by any other name would smell as sweet - Juliet Capulet in Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare
I find the very first reference to rose to be the Romeo-Juliet play... PVM has Hindi as the medium of instruction... During those episodes it was shown that students couldn't even pronounce the name of William Shakespeare or Juliet Capulet correctly... There are thousands of love story like Heer-Ranjha, Laila-Majnu... Then why only choose Romeo-Juliet?
If you see Naina is the only one who not only could pronounce the names correctly, but also appreciated the intricate love story... even though she didn't understand the feeling of love completely (bhaavarth)... But then she started loving Sameer... she was desperate to be his Juliet... If not Juliet then be at least close to him in any way possible... Because she believed that if love was there just being near him was enough... Sameer didn't know what he felt for Naina or rather he thought that he hated her but he just could not bring himself to kiss Swati... Even in rehearsals he holds Swati's hand but his eyes are on Naina dressed in that ridiculous soldier outfit... Because it didn't matter who is playing the role of Juliet, the Juliet of his heart was always Naina...
As Juliet says - "A rose by any other name would smell as sweet" - it doesn't matter how many differences come between them, how many obstacles the world puts in their relationship, their love wouldn't diminish - would never lose its fragrance because it's real... They are each other's true love forever...
A red rose speaks of love silently, in a language known only to the heart
When Sameer decides to seek forgiveness from Naina, he chooses the perfect red rose for her... Yes, he had a bunch of roses to give to all the girls in the class... Yet when asked by Shanti teacher that why did he bring roses he blurts out "Naina ke liye"... Because his heart had subconsciously chosen those red roses to express his love... The seeds of love which Naina had sown in his heart had sprouted into buds and were on their way to bloom into an eternal garden... He pursued forgiveness, desired love...
It's a rare man that understands the value of a perfect rose - Mary Alice Young, Desperate Housewives
When Sameer realized his love for Naina, there was no confusion in his mind as to how much he loves her... It wasn't like let's wait and watch, bask in the feeling of love, understand what is attracting him towards her, re-think that was he sure he didn't make any mistake in an emotional state... He knew he loved her and everything about her... He understood not only the meaning of love but the value of love... He chose an eternal flower to symbolize his everlasting love... Pink roses are classic... Many people think that red is the most common rose but it's not true...
Pink roses were the first to bloom in wilderness - just like their love is blooming and will continue to flourish in all the harsh wilderness of the so called societal structure
Pink roses were also the first to be cultivated by men because they convey an array of emotions - just like their relationship went through a crazy ride of attraction, hatred, appreciation, gratitude, affection, first love
The way Sameer looked at that pink rose while picking it up clearly showed how he was visualizing Naina in it... He was thinking that the beauty, elegance and grace of the flower in his hand complemented the same qualities in his woman... He touched the petals thinking the satiny silk of the petal must be matching perfectly with the satiny silk of her skin... He put the flower in her hair and his eyes moved from the flower to her cheeks thinking how impeccably the blush pink of the rose matched the blushing glow of his bride-to-be... That day Sameer chose the perfect rose, because he perfectly understood his love for her...
Would like to end with this quote by Louisa May Alcott as I think it portrays SamAina's love aptly:
"Love is a flower that grows in any soil, works its sweet miracles undaunted by autumn frost or winter snow, blooming fair and fragrant all year, and blessing those who give and those who receive."
