I don't know...why they decided to gift a sweater...ofcourse sweater is a sign of comfort but even then why a sweater...I was searching for the symbolic ref of gifting a sweater and that's when I saw this link about ...self hand knit sweater not an auspicious gift to be given to ur significant other. It is said that the relationship breaks up even before the sweater reaches the person...its more of a curse associated with it...not sure to what extant...check on wiki you will find more details on the same...

Pooja is almost knitting one for her would be.. if it was considered inauspicious.. Taiji and Chahiji wouldn't have allowed that.

I just asked that's all ..I mean it might be different in different countries and with different culture...like some consider breaking glass is in auspicious but there are marriages during which a wine glass is smashed...

I think we have many myths in which some believe some do not..
Just like payal nikal jaana -inauspicious
Ghar k bahar jaane se pehle sneezing-inauspicious
So many Agarwal family doesnt believe in this sweater wala myth😃

Are wikipedia is just 😡
Duniya ke jitney faltu chizi hai woh bhadi padi hoti hai..
.
Wiki can be edited by anybody never to trust the information available on net fully ..

As far as I know in Indian culture is handkerchief root cause of break up.

It said even it is written on upanishad too ..
Gifting handkerchief to your partner not good..
As handkerchief is the symbol of bad luck.

This sweater thing just but may be it is applied in some other countries but in India not as for such.

I don't know about any curse but Naina has made this with love. When she heard that even Sameer's mother never knits sweater for him, Naina did it, with love.. toh koi jab itni mehnat se, itni pyaar se kuch banaye woh curse nahi ho Salta
And about gifting sweater, here on bday occasions people give sweaters in gift. Its very common..
