My take: B'day and Sipahi flashbacks...

I 've seen others thinking and even I myself trying to figure out why did they show flashbacks of Sameer's bday party and the play where she was dressed up as Sipahi before Nanu's praise for her?😕
So for this we should recapitulate the flashback...first they show their almost bumping into each other for the first time when their eyes meet... followed by she falling into mud...then bday party... sipahi...then it was the key incident and Nanu praising her...I think this is how it was...

So for me I would say that the first bumping scene to the Sipahi scene he had the flashbacks of how feelings for Naina changed for him over time..first when he bumped into her, she hardly meant anything to her...she was a complete stranger to him... then when she fell into mud...there were some tiffs going on between them representing his dislike for her...then there was the bday party scene when she lied to her family to come to his bday party as she knew he wont be cutting the cake without her😊...although her dressing sense for him was not upto the mark for him but still he was lost in her innocence and her will to fulfil his wish😃... she came despite her strong family principles which made her run away from there in guilt of lying to her family 😊

Then there was the Sipahi moment where she agreed to do a totally non significant role just to be a part of the play ...he laughed behind her back but probably now he was able to understand her desperation to be close to him...she standing with her eyes down as she was shy...spoke so much which probably he didn't understand that time but now after that he is seeing her...he is figuring out how his feelings for her have changed from the first time to this present moment...😃

Now that he is here...seeing a girl who loves him for sure and he if not love...but definitely likes...for her qualities and above all a beautiful heart😃

So for me I think that it's not that those times only had impact on him and the other important ones didn't.. ..i feel he was just trying to reflect on his different perceptions about her over time😃

Please share your opinions as well😊

Wow, this is a beautiful post!! Loved your take on the flashbacks that Sameer had during that scene. You described it so well! 👏

I just can't get over that scene. It wasn't a particularly long scene, as neither one of them could say more than one word, but just the way Sameer was looking at her - so much of love, warmth, and softness in his eyes . It's the first time we've seen him like this, in this state. And Naina was so cute too - her expressions, the anticipation of that special moment.

I just hope the actual confession scene is just as beautiful!

Hi doc, this is the first time I'm commenting on your post, I think... sorry for the rather long reply😉
My take is similar to yours. I'm pasting some of it from another post I wrote.

Yes, unknown to him, the moment she accepted the teddy looked at him, he was transfixed. Her magnetic eyes transported him into a world that was exclusively theirs. 😳 Recollecting those mundane moments brings utter joy and calm to him For those few moments, he was only Sameer, not Sameer Maheswari who has to win a bet and she was only Naina, not Naina who is Rakesh sir, his enemy's daughter and the reason his Mom won't see him again.

Those were a few magical moments...as I mentioned it was the most mundane of moments, where Naina was at her unflattering best! 😆 Yet he remembers them... I also think today he just saw those moments in a new light.

You know, the first time he almost bumped into her... she was startled... not a flattering sight for a first meeting... 😆
next he bumped her cycle and she was literally covered in mud... looking as ugly as one can look and she still washed it off just as easily...
then his birthday party where she wore the most hideous dress... but still mustered courage to come to save his face, he also came to know that she lied for him for the first time, so another first for her... 😲 😃
then the play where she once again looks hideous in those ill fitting boys clothes, yet what he realizes is she did it to spend time with him... 😛

So unknown to him those first few memories have become precious to him and today they bring a smile on his face. One could fells the fondness and tenderness he has for that Naina... shy yet bold, quiet yet gutsy, innocent yet intelligent...

And it all falls the next second when he remembers then next few incidents with or because of her...

After that he remembers the last ugly incident with his mother in principal's room where he gets slapped, all because of Naina's words. He lost his mother, who refuses to even see or talk to him now because of Naina's actions, though he now acknowledges that her motive was honesty. But her actions caused him to lose the person he loved.

But next second he remembers his Nanu and his words...once again its Naina's actions...once again she acted in honesty and humanity, but this time it brought his Nanu back to him... so her actions brought him closer to his Nanu, the only other person he really loves.

And these two things are the root of his confusion... which will win over? The one that took his Mom away or the one that gave his Nanu back... in all this add the fact that he now accepts her as a good friend, and unconsciously maybe? something more... And he stops at "I..."

Wow ! 👏 you have explained so beautifully

I especially liked the part where you say about the one Naina who took away his mom and the other Naina who gave his Nanu back.

I never connected the two scenes that way. Thanks for writing this.

Thanx Mani for this apt post...My thoughts are exactly on ur wavelength...i will jus say...those flashbacks were actually at the start of those different phases they both went thru...be their first meet orthe R n J play...they both had come a long way...His reminiscence of her ...those particular moments showed their cycle from strangers to all those points n now friends...I particularly loved thise flashbacks when he was reeling n reliving those very moments with that smile n softness on his face...He was actually smiling with happiness when recollecting these very moments n that was enough for me...Ki ye to gaya😆

A very nice perspective 😊 didn't think about it this way.
How I felt was that the reason Sameer remembers all these supposedly insignificant scenes is because somewhere deep down they had an impact on him...from their first bump meeting- we see Sameer too was lost in her eyes for a moment or two, he even looked back at her before chasing the senior that day...when she fell in the mud- that was when he actually wanted to give her a hand and hep her out (one of Shefali's love tests I think) when Munna & Pandit made him run away in fear of Rakesh sir...then the B'day scene- Sameer remembers how he was left looking at her- her open hair flowing, though she was wearing a dress he didn't like at all- he was floored by her that day for sure- the way they were lighting up the cake candles n all...then the Siphai scene- Naina looked plain stupid (for everyone including her)- yet in the first look, Sameer doesn't laugh n is lost in her innocence...he does make fun of her later on though.
Like someone said, I think it shows too that Sameer has liked Naina even when she was at her unflattering best...n now Sameer is thinking about their whole journey from the first meet till now...
I feel that might have been to show conflicting emotions in his mind- his liking Naina since a long time, but then also the wrongs Naina did to him...he's fighting a confusion in his mind- whether to listen to his heart or to complete the bet...my two cents 😊
