Sameer walked on the pavement in not so busy roads of Bangalore.He didn't had any company except the bitter memories of past. BMTC buses and college girls on cycles were zooming by as if hinting him to stay well ahead of time so as to not be failure in life.As he was walking by looking at the stalls of masala dosa and the aromatic chutney filling the air around him,he heard a crash.

His eyes darted to the road and he saw a girl fallen on the pavement. An Atlas' cycle lay strewn with a lime coloured duppatta entangled in the cycle mudguard. He rushed to her along with few ladies passing by the road.As the ladies picked her up, she stood up limping on the left foot and dusting her chudidar suit.Sameer picked her books that lay scattered on the pavement.As he forwarded to hand over the books he saw her struggling with the duppatta now badly entangled.She flinched in pain as she tried to pull it out.Sameer silently handed her the books and tried dis entangling the duppatta.A forceful yank,and the duppatta came out...came out in tatters.

"Kya kiya? Meri duppatta! Meri birthday wali duppatta...'' the girl was less in tears and more in shock.

"Nikal diya cycle se. ''Sameer answered in a cool gentleman voice.

"Nikal diya ya phad dala.Nikal na nahin ata to nikal kyun rahe the? ''Her voice rose higher and Sameer was surprised with her attitude.

"Main to sirf help kar raha tha aur tum ho ki mujhe hi ulta suna rahe ho.Bhalai ka zamanna nahin raha.'' He gave her back a pat reply.

"Varsha naam hai meri,Kab kis pe baras jaun bharosha nahin meri.'' She replied with an attitude and cycled away with an injured ankle and bruised elbow.

"Itni attitude! Samajhti kya hai khud ko?'' Sameer shrugged his shoulder and saw a paper under his boot.As he picked it up,he saw money receipt with logo of IIM,Bangalore belonging to VARSHA MEHROTRA.

"Varsha Malhotra! To us akad wali ki money receipt hai.Madam humari batch mein IIM mein hai.Tab to roz mulakat hogi Varsha.Tum Varsha to main bhi Sameer .Achi takaar hogi.'' Sameer kept the money receipt folded in his breast pocket suddenly feeling energised for a challenging future.

"Ahh! Ayappa! Yeh elbow chil gaya hai.Ab is halat mein college kaise jaungi?Mujhse nahin ho payega.Room wapas chali jaati hun. ''Varsha turned her cycle and cycled back to her room.

"Sir! Yeh timetable kahan pe milega?'' Sameer asked the receptionist in the office.

"Tumhare paas money receipt hai na? Wohi jake library mein show karke apna library card,temporary I.D. Card aur time table le ana.Library yahan se left mein second floor pe hai''. The receptionist showed him the way.

"Yeh money receipt itna important hai aur us akad wali Varsha Malhotra apni money receipt raste pe hi chod gayi.Kitna pareshan ho jayegi bechari.Use dhund ke ab yeh receipt lautana hai''. Sameer told himself as he ascended the stairs to library.

"Sir! Humari batch mein Varsha Malhotra koi hai? ''Sameer asked the librarian out of curiosity.

"Kyun tumhe kyun jan na hai? Varsha ho ya Bijli ho.Padhai karne aye ho ,padhai pe dhyan do. ''The librarian sent away Sameer while Sameer mumbled "Duniya ke saare Librarian ek jaise hain kya?Khadoos aur pagal.''

"Sir! Kya main andar aa sakta hun? ''Sameer asked the Professor who was already in class taking introduction.

"Yes! Yes! Come in.Wahan baith jao.Quick.'' The professor allotted Sameer a seat in hurry so as not to break his flow of introducing lecture.

" Excuse me Sir! Varsha Malhotra class mein hai?'' Sameer asked the professor when he asked if the students have any doubts to clear.

"Main Management ka Professor hun.Police station ki inspector nahin.Padhai aur is subject ke future prospects ke bare mein puchna hai to bolo nahin to chup chap baith jao. ''The Professor said with discontentment written over his face.

"Par Sir! Aap ke pass attendance register to hoga na ''Sameer wanted to find her as soon as possible.

"Abhi tak puri admission khatam nahin hui.Isliye attendance nahin aayi hai.Do hafte lagange register bante bante.Tum ab sirf padhai pe dhyan do.You are in best institute of country.Remember that.'' The Professor tried glorifying the institution.

"Koi khaas hai? A boy sitting next to him asked with a sly smile.Aur ek Section hai humari course.Us section mein pooch lena.'' He advised and Sameer thanked him for the timely information.

"Excuse me! Any Varsha Malhotra here? '' Sameer asked entering the section after the Professor just left.

"Arey Varsha ko chodo andhi ko pakdo. ''A tom boyish girl shouted from last bench and Sameer cringed with her stupidity.

"Cycle karke college ki taraf to aayi thi phir gayi kahan? Pagal kar diya hai ladki.Ab kahan milunga us se? ''Sameer stamped his foot in frustration and went into canteen to gobble the dosa.

"Sahab ji! Uthiye.Aapko Delhi jana hai na.Der ho jayegi. Piku tried waking up Sameer who had fallen asleep on the chair thinking about Varsha.

"Arey ! 8 baj gaye? Sameer woke up to be startled by the wall clock chiming eight rings.

"Aap tayar ho jaiye main nashta lagata hun.Aapka taxi 10.30 waje ane wali hai na. Piku informed and left to arrange for breakfast.

"Rishav! Chal Badminton khelte hein.Yeh Cricket mujhse nahin hoga. ''Nisha suggested Rishav finding Cricket very uninteresting.

"Okay.Tu jaake ghar se racket aur shuttlecock le aa.Main yahin hun'' Rishav said and Nisha obliged.

"Hey Bhagwan! Yeh landline band pada hai aur is mobile mein awaaz nahin aa rahi hai.Han Raunak! Ruko main thoda bahar aa rahi hun.Naina ka subah ka injection lag gaya na? Hello...Haan mein hospital aa jaungi thodi der baad.Tum Tina ko bol dena rukne ke liye Naina ke paas.Ab tum ghar aa jao. ''Nirupama spoke in a voice louder since the network connectivity was poor due to intense fog.

"Arey! Nisha.Tum kab aayi.Rishav kahan hai?'' Nirupama asked spotting Nisha in room.

"Wo..main racket aur cock lene aayi thi.Rishav field mein hai''. Nisha said and started searching for the same.

"Yeh Rishav bhi na.Koi chiz jagah pe nahin rakhta.Ruk mein dhundti hoon''. Nirupama mumbled in displeasure.

"Aunty! Wahan hai racket. ''Nisha pointed towards the messed up shelf of Rishav .

"Aaj ane de use.Ache se khabar lungi uski. ''Nirupama said determined and pulled out the cock and rackets.

"Aunty! Mein apni cycle le jaun.Itni door phir se nahin chal sakti.Please.'' Nisha requested Nirupama to which she smilingly agreed.

"Sambhal ke jana.'' Nirupama said as she kissed Nisha on her forehead.

"Bye Aunty''. Nisha waved and paddled away.

"Desai ji jaldi chaliye mujhe late ho raha hai.'' Sameer instructed the taxi driver as he kept on looking at his watch.Munna had already called him three times to confirm his arrival.

"Sahab! Aaj fog jyada hai isliye gadi chalana muskil ho raha hai.Kya karun aap hi bataaiye.'' The taxi driver said much to disappointment of Sameer.

" Thik hai.Aap dheere hi chalaiye...Sambhal ke. ''He was thrown forward with a sudden brake that Desai applied.

"Kya kar rahe ho?Kaisa driving hai yeh ''Sameer admonished and found the driver already out of car helping someone get up.

"Arey kisko lagi?...Rishav! " Sameer was shocked to see Rishav getting up and dusting the clothes while his cycle still lay on road.

"Kaise cycle chala rahe ho? Lagi to nahin tumhe? ''Sameer asked scrutinizing his body.

"Uncle! Aap ..Moti ko dekha hai? ''Rishav asked with urgency spilling in each syllable.

"Nahin to.Kyun kya hua? ''Sameer forgot all about getting late.

"Sahab ji.Aapko der ho rahi hai.Chaliye. ''The taxi driver informed as he got into driver's seat.

"Ek minute ruko.Nisha kahan hai? ''He felt anxiety building up in his veins.

"Isliye to puch raha hun aapse.Wo ghar mein racket lene gayi thi aur abhi tak wapas nahin aayi hai.Mumma bahut pareshan hai.Pata nahin behenji kahan ghum ho gayi.'' Rishav was definitely angry with Nisha's action.

"Wo akeli thi? ''Sameer asked as his heart throbbed in trepidation.

"Haan.Mumma boli ki wo racket leke cycle pe ghar se nikli thi mere pass field mein an eke liye.Lekin wo aayi nahin isliye mein ghar gaya to...

"Mumma! Moti ne mera burger kha liya kya?'' Rishav shouted as he parked his cycle.

"Tera Moti to tere saath hai,tera burger kaise khayegi?'' Nirupama voiced as she washed the school uniforms.

"Nahin hai na mere saath isliye doubt hua.Chupke se mere burger kha gayi hogi to.. ''Rishav said and went to check if his burger was intact in oven.

"Nisha tere saath nahin hai?'' Nirupama was surprised to learn the fact.

"Nahin.Wo to racket lene aayi thi ghar aur wapas gayi hi nahin.Isliye mujhe laga..ghar mein baith ke meri burger kha rahi hogi.'' Rishav informed as he slowly registered that something was amiss and terribly wrong.

"Lekin wo to cycle leke tere paas gayi thi.Kahan gayi phir?Hey bhagwan! Yeh kya naya musibat khada ho gaya.Kahan dhoondo ab use.'' Nirupama sat with a thud completely shocked at the sudden turn of events.

"Mumma! Aap tension mat lo.Main phir se field se dekh ke aata hun.Aap ro mat.'' Rishav consoled his mother as he knew how his mother loved Nisha even more than him.

"Nahin tu kahin mat jaa.Ghar mein ruk.'' Nirupama stopped Rishav holding his hand.

"Mumma! Main kahin nahin jaunga.Jaldi wapas aajaunga.Promise. ''Rishav swore and cycled away to field again.

"Uncle aap bhi chalo na Nisha ko dhundne ke liye.'' Rishav asked Sameer hoping that Sameer would definitely find her.

"Par beta! Mujhe to abhi Delhi jana hai.Aur wahan jana zaroori hai.Tum yeh card rakh lo mera,Nisha milte hi call karna.Please.'' Sameer said with half heartedness.If it was not for the felicitation day he would have even searched the hell for Nisha.But he was undone.Always put in cross roads by destiny.

"Uncle aap jaiye.Mere moti ko mein khud dhoond lunga''. Rishav was angry with Sameer because he had very high hopes from him which was crushed now.

As he saw the empty field ,Rishav's heart sank with fear.

"Moti! Kahan hai tu?'' He shouted in anger and worry only to find his own words fall back in his ears.
