I am wondering why the show does not mention Qayamat se Qayamat Tak at all?
I can understand that it being inspired for makers' own story, maybe Maine Pyaar Kiya holds more important to them/show and Sameer looks like then Salman. But, at the same time they have mentioned many other movies or used songs, but absolutely nothing about QSQT.

Actually, QSQT and MPK, both were iconic movies of late 80's which ushered Bollywood in a new era. And, the songs can be used in the show.

'Papa Kehte Hain' for Arjun
'Kahe Sataye' for Naina (This one is divine)
'Gazab ka hain din' for a totally smitten Naina...on a second thought Naina is not like Rashmi of the movie. Rashmi was totally smitten and never hesitated to show her attraction for Raj, so maybe not so much.

Oh..well...per movie ka passing mention to kar hi sakte hain.🤓

Edit: Thanks guys for pointing out that two songs have been used so far: Gazab ka hain din and Ae mere humsafar...

First one I missed and second I forgot.

Thanks for reminding.

As far as I remember... the first song they used in this show is of QSQK only... gazab ka hein din...

In the first episode itself to introduce naina...and she dancing around and going to school with preethi...they used it

Also they have shown posters of that movie oftenly

Yes, "Gazab ka hai din" was in the first episode. They've shown the QSQT poster several times, I think one of them is right outside Naina's room on the balcony.

Also, they used "Ae mere humsafar" when she was coming to meet him on her bicycle.

I am waiting for them to mention "Aashiqui", since it released right after Dil in 1990. Some of the songs would really fit well into the narrative.
