Sameer is the man-child and more of child less of man like most teenagers are. Mom means the world but he can't/won't admit it. And, like a child, he is hungry for love, so much that even when Naina - who honestly is not much to him at this time - wishes her own brother and feels happy for him, he feels hurt and angry, like a lonely child who just cannot share his toy - 'mine'.
He is such a lost boy and acting all Peter Panish.
Even Naina in a similar boat with no mother and just-in-name father, but presence of his loving uncle and not-overtly-loving but still caring aunt and sibling like cousins has provided her much stable upbringing.
Sameer has long way to go and many matches to loose before he can win.
