Yeh Hai Mohabbatein was the on screen adaptation of Manju Kapoor's custody novel and in it's initial nine months, it was possibly the finest Indian TV not only from Ekta, but anyone on television.
It was a mature love story, dealt with love, care and sensitivity. It was made from the heart, handled with immense honesty. However, the 7.30 pm slot changed that.
The channel is to blame for that because they certainly would've wanted an overtly dramatic TV show that catered to the masses. The 11 PM vintage YHM was more for the classes, with themes such as infidelity, betrayal, deceit and infertility.
