Medically the surrogate is called the birth mother' while the parents are called biological parents'. So yes medically Shagun is Pihu's birth mother and Ishita and Raman are her biological parents. In Pihu's case, it was GESTATIONAL SURROGACY; I.e. Pihu is a result of Raman's sperm fertilising Ishita's eggs. Shagun just hosted' the baby in her womb. Legally, Shagun has no right whatsoever over Pihu. In fact in reality the surrogates are not allowed to know the whereabouts of the baby and do not have even visitation rights.

We all know why CVs made Shagun the surrogate. It was an attempt to white wash her character and give Anita some screen space. Otherwise Shagun is just like any other woman who could've hosted IshRa's baby and have no claim over the child born.

So, Shagun is NOT Pihu's mother. Only IshRa are her parents.

That Shagun took care of Pihu after Ishita goes missing is a different thing.

If Shagun would have given birth to Pihu and left the place, she couldn't claim any rights on her, but in YHM it was shown that Ishita left for 7 years after Pihu was born.

And In her absence , it was Shagun who raised Pihu and not only raised her but in fact was given the status of being Pihu's mother by both the family and the father of the child .

This type of involvement needs to be acknowledged (by this word I mean giving respect out of gratitude) which Ishita does by calling Pihu as "Humare Bachhe".

And coming down to Adi and Ruhi , Ishita solely cannot claim them to be hers coz they are Shagun's.

Ruhi's she can still negate but not Adi's.

That is why that "Humare bachhe".
