He opened his eyes and the next moment, his eyes fell on her picture hanging on the wall. Well it was no coincidence; he had purposely put up her picture there so he can witness her beautiful face the first thing in the morning the moment he wakes up.
He only knew how much he adored that twinkle of her chocolate eyes; that honey smile of hers, something that always curved up his lips involuntarily as well. He ruffled his hair and got up from the bed, straight moving to her picture as he released it from the wall and held it close to his heart.
Another day of my life has passed without you ish, I have spend another 24 hours, 1440 minutes and 86400 seconds of my life without you. He said caressing her pic as tears rolled down his eyes recalling her and the beautiful moments he had spent with her. He kissed her picture and was about to talk to her further when he heard a knock on the door.
Looking up, he found his friend mihir on the door smiling at him. Keeping her pic aside, he moved to mihir wishing him a good morning while he just looked at ishita's pic once and pressed his shoulder a little.
M -still thinking about her?
He couldn't help ask his friend to which raman just smiled nodding his head.

He said sighing before he excused himself for using the washroom. Mihika entered the room with their coffees and asked mihir about raman to which he told that he left for freshening and mihika just nodded her head.

She asked chirpily only to get a glare from mihir but raman just smiled in return as he started narrating about her, his ish, the love of his life.
FLASHBACK
It wasn't another normal day for him, it was his birthday and his friends had been waiting for him. He started off for his college from home but got his mother's call telling him to come back and ditch college for a day. Though irked by the sudden order from his mother, he moved back home and asked his mother what happened to which she told him to go to the orphanage as it's his birthday today and distribute sweets and books between kids. She had been doing it for the orphan kids for years now every year on his birthday but this year, she was having trouble in walking due to her knee problem and so she asked raman to do it. Raman got irked and told his mother that he will go to the orphanage some other day but toshiji was adamant and so he had to go.
And that was the first time he saw her, she was busy playing with the little kids, laughing carelessly and seeing her, he felt like god just gave him his birthday gift, he had lost his heart to her. He moved to her in a trance and she asked him about his visit in her sweet voice leaving him mesmerized all over again. He told that he has come to distribute sweets and books among the kids and she happily led him inside. He spend the whole day at the orphanage with her and kids knowing that she is an orphan too and had lived in the same orphanage so comes there regularly and spends time with orphan kids. Both began meeting regularly and fell for the other. He talked to his mother about her and as toshiji liked her too, their marriage got fixed.

He couldn't complete and broke into sobs while mihika too couldn't hold her tears.
Mi -I can't even imagine what she must have been through all this while bhai because I know what a rape does to a woman, the wounds of the body heal but the mental wounds last a lifetime. But you know what, she is a lucky girl who has your love in life, I just hope you find her soon.
She said smiling pressing his hand while he too smiled at her and left for work. He was driving lost in his own thoughts when he felt her presence. He looked around and after a few minutes, actually spotted her getting into a cab. He turned the wheels and began following her. She was entering a building when he called her from behind. She halted in her tracks hearing his voice but then quickened her pace not wanting to face him.

He called her again making her heart flip but she didn't stop. She pressed the button of the lift and quickly entered inside but he wasn't missing this chance of talking to her so entered the lift on time.
Both looked at the other, they were seeing the other after whole two years. Tears rolling down both pairs of eyes but gaining her senses, she tried to walk away but he stopped her holding her hand as he pulled her to himself with a jerk making her land on him.
His shivering fingers caressed her cheeks and he smiled feeling she is actually with him.
R -ish, I missed you so much
He said taking her in a tight hug, she too wanted to reciprocate the hug and put her arms around him but couldn't do so. She was standing still while he was hugging her with all he had, telling her how he has been searching for her like a mad man all the while.
R -come ish, let's go home, maa will be happy seeing you
He said trying to drag her out but she shrugged his hand.
I -I don't want to go
She said walking out of the lift while raman followed suit.
R -but why ishita?
I -don't you know what had happened two years ago, it's over raman. I can't marry you now, I am... just go from here raman. I don't want to talk to you
He got angry seeing her pushing him away from herself and holding her by her wrist, pinned her to the wall.
R -it wasn't your fault ish. It was my mistake; I couldn't protect you from them. I made sure they got the punishment for their deeds but what about me, even I am your culprit, and won't you punish me?
I -it wasn't your fault raman
She spoke meekly looking away making him smile sarcastically.
R -it was ishita, it was my entire fault
He said banging his fist in the wall making it bleed.
I -what have you done raman
She said holding his hand in hers as she tried to help him but he just shrugged his hand off.
R -let that be, you don't want to talk to me and you think I don't deserve a punishment for all that happened with you right. Fine then; let me punish myself my way.
He said walking to the terrace in anger making ishita scared. She followed him, calling him numerous times but he didn't turn back to her once. She reached the terrace only to see him walking towards the railing. She ran to him and stopped him holding his hand. He tried to shrug her off again but she just hugged him tight stopping his movement.
I -stop it raman, I told you na, It wasn't your fault. It was destiny.
R -no ishita, stop lying to me.. I too am your culprit.
I -think about mummyji raman, what she will go through if you do something like this
R -marry me ishita, I love you. I know what has happened in the past has hurt you, shattered you and shaken you but I promise to keep you happy, I promise to stand by your side holding your hand firmly and I promise I won't fail to protect you again.
He said almost crying, pleading her to forgive him but she again left his hand.
I -people will badmouth about me always Raman, I am no more a part of this society. People look at me with pity or hate; I don't want you to face humiliation because of me. It's better that I walk out of your life.
She said trying to make him understand and finally left from there leaving a broken raman behind.

Mihika assured him and encouraged him not to give up so soon and keep trying to convince ishita, her reaction was natural. Raman nodded his head thanking mihika for her support and from the next day, he started chasing ishita almost everywhere, trying all possible means to make her agree until that day when he was hit by a car while he was running behind her.
She rushed him to the hospital and when he opened his eyes, he found her sitting next to him holding his hand while mimi too were there.
I -are you out of your mind, who runs on the road like this, gadha aadmi.
R -you weren't giving me my punishment so I thought to punish myself like this
I -ek lagau kaan ke niche... only I have the rights to punish you
R -hmm
I -and your punishment is you'll have to marry me
She said making his face break into a beautiful smile.
R -accepted
He chuckled and getting up, she wrapped her arms around him taking him in a hug not before smacking him once, warning him against doing such silly things again to which he just hummed in response closing his eyes getting peace after so long.
R -tere bina zindagi zindagi nahi thi madrasan, thank you for accepting me again.
He said caressing her hair while she just looked up at him and hit her forehead with his whispering "same here" to him before she rested her head back on his chest, she too had been looking for this peace for so long.
