You've done an absolutely amazing job of highlighting something many don't think of when it comes to parenting. A mother is inately always there for the baby's pre-partum journey and has an automatic bond should she chose to embrace it, but it's the father who has to make the effort to build an early relationship with the child even after birth...it's a dad who has to be present to truly experience all the joys that come with a new child. I could go on but it digresses a little from your fabulous update!
