Chapter 2
Sujatha entered the Bhalla house the next day morning and placed all the evidences on Raman's hands hiding her pain. All papers read only one thing, Romi Bhalla was the man responsible for the death of Lakshmi Subramanian and Karthik Subramanian. Blood drained out of all their faces and both of them wanted revenge for their loss. They did not mind ruining the life of another woman and kid. Subbu stood with a couple of bandages on his face staring at his ex who was standing besides Ananya and Simmi. Before he could lose his mental stability, he urged his mother in law to leave the place.
Raman was waiting for his brother like an animal waiting for its prey. Ishitha on the other side got thinking about that day and in particular about that evening. Her husband doubting about her relationship that she shared with Mani, while he stood praising his Ex-wife throwing sarcastic glares at her, their house caught in a fire accident and then her husband forcing himself upon her which all ended with her brother in law getting injured in a rash driving accident. She gulped a glass of water and looked at her husband who was on the phone and was clear that he was engaged in a serious conversation with the lawyer. Just then Romi entered the house and stumbled upon all their serious faces. Raman reached his brother in no time and held him by his collar and their mother yelled at the two of them to stop. Ishitha held Raman and Mr. Bhalla held on to Romi. The few minutes drained Romi completely and his father announced yet another time that he was ashamed to have a son like him. He promised them all and shared everything about that night. Ishitha and Raman were in no mood to believe him. Both had to stall the issue for a while and get back to school for some parents teacher's meeting.
Later in the evening the topic again came up and Mrs. Bhalla dragged Raman in to her room to speak her out.
Toshi: Puttar, I know Romi is on the wrong side and he has done many mistakes. You have always yelled at him but shown him the right path in your own way. Today he is standing again after committing a mistake, please help him out Raman.
Raman: Ma, please don't take his side. He has been doing this time and again. This has to stop somewhere. I don't mind seeing my brother behind the bars for few years and return back to me as the person whom I can feel proud of
Toshi: He has already suffered enough Raman. Your father tells on his face every time about how much he is ashamed of him. Every time I see that Madarasan Bala I feel guilty that he lost his career because of my son. But today he promised that he has done no such thing. He would have definitely not harmed them.
Raman: He has done so much and even you feel guilty. It is high time he learns a lesson. It's our pampering that has led to this care free attitude of his and he walked out of the room.
While he was walking out, he heard his mother mumbling how mata rani has given him the biggest punishment for life. He can never be a parent again and his only child's mother does not want to accept him. Please let him live his life puttar and she hoped he heard all of it.
He sat on the bed troubled and was put in a fix by his mother. He was initially strong enough to get his brother punished but now he was left confused. He was not someone who believed in fate but today he was made to think on those lines. Somewhere deep down he loved his little brother way too much to get him punished by someone else. He did not mind him slapping and punching but the thought of having him behind the bars did not sit well with him after talking with his mother. He needed to talk with her and was aware of her intentions. She was not wrong but his brother could not be let alone either. He called his lawyer and wanted him to look at the case from a new perspective and spoke about getting an anticipatory bail ready.
In some corner of the same city, the person who was responsible for so much trauma in the Bhalla house sat down at a bar, happily sipping on his glass of whiskey. He knew everything was a lie. Romi was innocent as much as his promise, but he wanted her or rather was mad for her. It did not bother him when he rejected her. From all his recent research about her, she was now capable of even having a baby. He was an obsessive lover. He needed her near him and for that he would go to any extent. He knew her stand for the truth and she has fought with him for that. He was waiting for that tiny chance to enter back in to her life. His thoughts were disturbed when his phone started to ring. He tried controlling his anger and answered his mother in law that he will be back soon and gulped the remaining whiskey. He needed his mother in law with him. She was a lawyer and if anything goes wrong till his goal is achieved, he wouldn't be able to reach his target. She was only for him.
At the Bhallas, Ishitha was devastated when she heard about Neil working on an anticipatory bail. She knew her mother in law would be more than happy. She stood in front of him arguing and explaining everything.
Ishitha: Raman, you wanted your son to be rightly punished when he was just 12 years. Romi is more than twice his age. Does he not deserve the right treatment?
Raman: He has already been punished. I am not a person who believes in destiny and all that. But he has changed for the good and by no means will he suffer. For once stop lecturing on this stand by the family.
Ishitha: It's not that simple Raman. Two innocent people have lost their life. Whatever that has happened with Romi is a result of his rash driving and nothing more. He did not want to accept Sarika and his kid and you people supported him. Every time he can't get away
Raman: Now put an end to your lecture. He is my brother and I will decide. I will want you to stand by me or else stay away till everything is sorted.
He raised his hand asking her to remain quiet and folded his hands before her. She looked at him sad and accusingly. He knew he was wrong and was again torn between truth and family. By choosing his family he definitely did not stand by her. Somewhere she wanted her questions to be answered by him for once. She waited for him to look at her but he was looking everywhere. She was hurt again and was let down yet another time for his family. Everyone moved out of the living room hoping the two would sort it out but both had other plans. He turned his back not wanting to look at her face and melt in those eyes, while she waited for him to talk to her. He walked back towards his room while she walked out of the house turning her face every now and then hoping that he would look at her.
