It is almost like Rubic's cube. Several attempts to be made to match the colors!

Same to same thghts Envee, for him lust , for her attraction, she fell sick because she came to know about his affair with M and was guilty that she was attracted/loved such a guy, her conservative Iyer family, guilt abt what her parents would think.

Misplaced priorities

Ranjanji conversations are always endearing...there's this so much affection exuding from every word that he mouths. Amidst all this laptop business, comes his grouse of not much support for him at work...
Avan avanukku avan avan prachanai... Everyone has their own axe to grind...
The one thing that struck me about II taking chai up to her FIL was this...
For me personally, while I was growing up coffee and chai used to be just that...
Random occasions, couple of biscuits or a thattai or murukku that Amma and paati used to make and bajji and bondas and onion pakoras s used to be a Sunday affair... Nothing elaborate about it...
But when I moved with my parents to Delhi in the 90's, I understood what being invited for a "chai" means...
Then moved bk south for a few years, got married and after a few years, moved back with my husband and kid to Gurgaon... The chai affair got wider and more interesting and like everybody else we had also moved up the ladder and the invites only got more interesting...I touched base
With this concept with samosas , kachodis, pakkodis, bhujia, sev , biscuits, fruit chats , namak paras, namkeen kaju, badam , pista, kaju kalti, jamuns, cake, pastries and yes , not to forget the 'CHAI'. Not that I did not enjoy it, just that it used to amuse me with the culture that I found...Chai is and was an elaborate affair in Delhi. Everything we learn and adapt . Be a roman in Rome ... So I did the same when I invited folks over for chai when we lived in Gurgaon... Had help too from my maid (such a lovely lady, I miss her a lot and give her calls now and then)in the kitchen with the mirch pakkodis
So I found myself smiling when Ranjanji asked II (as it probably will not strike her naturally to get those)for namkeens and sweets to be sent up to him and she said sorry, I will... So subtle these differences in each culture and how it's laid out...
Every other line of this update except the 'mundane chai' has been devoured by all So nothing much left for me to add... I am still in bed... My filter coffee is calling me out... And it's just coffee sans the accompaniments 😭

Lovely memories Errant. Didn't know inviting to chai means such an elaborate affair.

For me chai means only that, no accompaniments. Bajji, bonda, sandige used to be there only on saturdays and that too if it was raining. Now among all these common ailments such as diabetes, cholestrol levels, BP that too has reduced. But yeah, the hot chips shop have increased and bacchon ke bahane we have that. Now also, since it is raining I wanted something hot spicy and said the same. But I couldnt decide what to eat, no bajjis since I made it last weak, asked my kids what they want, went to the chips shop and bought all spicy items ...kara chips, spicy groundnuts
So glad we r getting a respite from the heat...

So II is continuosly putting her foot in the mouth that too infront of the dude, wonder he didn't blow a gasket. Did he raise his voice?
Lovely FIL and DIL moment. Inspite of knowing his nephews' attitude, Ranjanji is keeping quite, jaane do family hai types.

II should have waited atleast 24hrs instead of jumping the gun and buying a new lappy. Wonder what else awaits her. Nisha has landed her in hot soup.

I dont know what they call it in Tamil, but its like fritters made usually in summers using rice flour, sabu daana, beaten rice to this they add the green chutney, they cook the rice flour, make balls and then pressed into different shapes, dried under sun,and stored. we deep fry them in oil
