I think what's unique about them is that they're unlike other tv show couples. Where couples act like teenagers. The emotional attraction came first. They bonded over pain, healing each other, their kids etc. It was different than what I'd seen on other shows. Where apart from hating to love, there was no other angle to build an emotional connect.
