I agree with you both.
Neither Raman nor Ishita are perfect. There are times when I find both characters highly annoying, and there are times when I find their anger justified.
I honestly do believe Raman and Ishita have poor communication skills, and this is the reason they misunderstand each other so much. Ishita needs to understand that Raman is not just Ruhi's father and therefore her husband. He is her husband first and then Ruhi's father. She needs to form that connection with him beyond her love for Ruhi. As for Raman, he needs to understand that if he made a mistake, he should talk to Ishita about it before she finds out the hard way. He needs to trust his wife and discuss his problems with her instead of trying to solve them himself.
If Raman is obsessed with Adi, Ishita is obsessed with Ruhi. Parents should definitely love their children yes, but not obsessed to the extent that they hurt their husband/wife for their children. After children grow up, they leave their parents and move on in life, but a husband and wife never leave each other. They are the only support for each other in old age, so if they do not establish that connection in their younger years, how can they support each other in old age?
