Her friends swarmed her like bees... she was adamant about leaving her neck bare, most of her mehandi had dried completely... she wasnt worried about it being ruined

It kinda added a pattern to her bare arms. Her friends hubbies greeted her, Akka had her phone
"Podi U can have it after the wedding or at night today and tomorrow night only strictly"

She felt his eyes on him as she walked to the opposite end...
Sam grabbed the mike and announced

"Coming up next is Utkarsh and Seema dancing to Mehandi Lagaake Rakhna" Seema Bhalla is our own aspiring actor in the making...

Uma: She is trying for the movies is it? (they seem like a very modern family)
Utkarsh was dressed like SRK... II smiled and the smile was noticed by the Dude 50 feet away...
Seema looked gorgeous as Kajol

Vandu: Did u practice kannamoochi again after u left my place?"

Amma and Appa had gone off to Chennai on a day trip to buy the remaining jewelry and thaali/mangal sootra from GRT Chennai.
II had returned from work early and she had practised dancing to kannamoochi, followed Akka to her house dance more there...

"Ummm no, I havent had the time... I am not sure I will go ka"

Ranjan walked over with her Appa

II smiled shyly
Ranjan: R&B ne dekha abhi aapko? (has he seen you in the outfit?)
II squirmed "I dont know Dad"

OFCOURSE HE HAS PIG!!! HIS EYES HAVE BEEN POKING HOLES THROUGH ME FROM ACROSS THIS GODDAMN LIVING ROOM
EVERYTIME I LOOK AT HIM I FIND HIM LOOKING AT ME
Appa: Have u seen Amma?
II: she was upstairs with Athai and Rama Manni
Appa: I wanted to ask her about the time we leave for the Hall (very busy and preoccupied)

Appa nodded half heartedly
Amma and Athais walked over by the time Vandu went and got R&B

II had a "WHY DID U HAVE TO DO THAT?" look on her face
Vandu:Arey... U said he hadnt "seen" u in the outfit I thought I must bring him, so tell me R&B how does she look

He SHRUGGED... HE SHRUGGED

II: Hope u are happy ka, he cant seem to contain his excitement

Akka giggled, watching her sister's frustration at getting an inadequate response from her dude
Amma Athais and Appa were talking being introed to Ranjan a foot away
Vandu: So u did dress up for him then?
II: I dressed up to dance

R&B stared inscrutably

II:He doesnt have to watch it sollu ka... he doesnt look like he is eager (goading)

Vandu: U shud just not watch she said she didnt dress up for u so looks like she wont dance for u either (giggling)

Sam interrupted
"Coming up next Trehaan and his LOVELY wife Priya dancing to the ever popular gal mithi mithi bol
Put ur hands together people...

They all paused to look Appa shook his head in disbeliefe

Athai:Ivan daan paiyyana? (is he the boy?)
Vandu: yes Athai he is, I told you he is wayyy taller than namba (our) Ishita I was right was I not?

Athai: he is very tall

Athai walked up to him and said "I am Ishita's Athai" (in Tamil)
Vandu: She is my Dad's Akka, like I am Ishita's

R&B joined hands in namaste

Athai smiled turned to look at Vandu in awe "Evlav Raja madiri irukkaan" (HE LOOKS LIKE A PRINCE)
Vandu: Athai says u look like a Prince

R&B handed Athai his half smile

Athai: Na aval kitta sonnen avana nidaanama iruka sollu nu onn kitta solla sonna (I told Ishita to tell you "My Athai wants you to be gentle with me, she asked me to tell you DIRECTLY)

II lunged and covered Vandita's mouth

Akka sputtered as her henna crumbs fell on brushing with her face

R&B watched amused, II turned to him his smile disappeared to be replaced with fury for the exchange they had when he left her room

Vandu: i wish I could R&B but she just promised something big
II let go of Akka and stepped back

Vandu:Athai said "You MUST BE GENTLE WITH ISHITA. Hope you will listen to her"

AYYYOOO TRAITOR... AKKA I WILL NO LONGER SPEAK WITH YOU
II stumbled blushing leaning on a wall

With NO SMILE he looked deeply at her let his gaze rove over her flushed face and collar bone...
"I'll try" "ATHAYE?" "ATH-AYE??" he struggled to say it

athai was DELIGHTED

Vandu laughed loud and hard

Vandu:Athai will ask you for a report huh, so follow through

R&B looked at II, they stared at each other visualizing the lust independently... their private fantasy

Lust and hostility was the hall mark of their relationship. It was like oxygen and water... one couldnt survive without the other.
Fuel and match, the combination was deadly but came together nevertheless unfailingly

Sam walked over "I am going to steal my sis in law, she is going next"
Appa turned startled

Jaya Athai stared in shock "Is she going to dance?"

Vandu: yes Athai she has practicsed with her friends and co workers, Ishita did u meet Bally & Co, Bhavna & Chanchal?

II shook her head, he watched her jhumkas bob side to side... she met his gaze
Vandu:Dont worry about the cute guy I will take care of him

She gave R&B a side ways hug he gave a full warm hug to her
Jaya Athai: Rendu perum friends aa? (are Vandita and Raman friends too?)
Amma: yes yes, he likes Vandita a lot... can you see?

II: Amma I dont want to dance (returning to Amma)

amma:Why kanna, akka said u practiced

II: I dont want to...

Bala came looking for R&B... "Ja kiddo everyone is waiting to see u dance, ur friends are already in position lights are dimmed

II: U and Akka shud dance, I dont want to

Bala:WHY? R&B bol isko yaar (tell her man)
R&B didnt move from wher he stood just guzzled his beer

II: No... I dont need

amma: shhh... Ishita they are all watching kanna

II looked at him "Go if u dont care to watch"

"Oh but I WILL WATCH" he eyes told her

Jaya Athai: Does he drink
Amma:they all do (hissing)

Jaya Athai: yes he is not even Iyer so we cant have too many epxectations.
Amma: Radha's husband drinks too doesnt he? What religion is he? Jewish?

Jaya Athai nodded faintly

He stepped back as more people crowded the center... her eyes literally searched for him in the group... as she twirled between her friends

There was a huge round of applause when she made her first move

She twirled and rotated... Appa watched spell bound... in disbelief his little Ishita kutti could be such as performer

pushing people to the side to get shots of her from the side, her looong braid, it swung like a serpent sweeping an arc around the center... she arched back revealing the ridges on her ribs

She gently lifted her gauzy pink lehanga to reveal a thick three inch wide silver bells on her ankles.. over the henna... women commented to each other on the size of the beads...
Sam watched mesmerized, Mihir nudged him "MANNN!!" was all he could get out...

Her lower lip trembled as she gasped when their eyes met across the room... she forgot her step for half a second, turned away ,

He didnt take his eyes off her dancing form, he just shook his head

When Mihir asked he was replaying them in his mind... the language was unknown but the meaning was relevant to him and him alone

The serpent like braid swing to the front to the tune of violin... it hung almost at her knee... the three velvet balls, held together by the gold foil cones

Her jhumkas... spun like they were on a out of control roller coaster... but she continued to sway to the tune with classical moves

I see them as this INTENSE couple who are very private, I dont see them as loud chirpy and talktaive and giggly (she is like that with everyone I know), but when she is with him she is just blown away their relationship is hostile and lusty and intense

She gifted a beautiful song and dance just for him, he knew it was only for him... it wasnt for the family it wasnt to show she was a good dancer or she had elegant moves, she danced because she wants him to react, what she cant tell him face to face she told him through her dance
