So I came back with an update, probably the fastest I have been with this story. 😆 Also I sincerely want to thank you all for still reading this story. Like always ignore typos and grammatical error.😳

Part 9

Silence prevailed the dining room.

Next thing bam! Toshi went crushing Ishita into a hug!

"Only a fool wouldn't accept her" she said cupping Ishita's face as Ishita gave an awkward smile.

"Had it been any other girl I would of cut you up into pieces, but this is probably my favourite mistake of yours" she said with a smile looking at Raman."Hayeee Thank you Mata Rani" And she crushed Ishita once again into a hug.

Toshi was more than happy. Mr. Bhalla and she had worried over Raman's future and marriage for many nights. Raman ignorance to the marriage topic and his dating history made her scared that he would end up with a wrong girl. Whenever she saw Ishita and Raman together,something felt perfect and she had always hoped something would spark up between two.

"Stop it Toshi!" Mr. Bhalla raised his voice gaining the attention of everyone.

"Wow,You have repaid us really well Raman" The old man voiced his agony with a great deal of sarcasm.

"Papa...It was-" Raman tried to reason. Mr. Bhalla raised his hand indicating to speak no further.

"Not a day of ours go by without thinking of each and every one of you" Mr. Bhalla said looking at his kids "But you couldn't even think about your parents just once, right? You do what you and when you want, why are we here? Only for namesake?"

"We were scared you wouldn't accept us".

"Bhalla ji" Toshi tried to calm her husband. "They are our children, you heard Raman he was scared. Forget your anger and lets give them our blessing and see what we should do next."

"Scared? Scared for what? Have we ever said no to his happiness? " Mr. Bhalla questioned.

Raman was mute. His father was a strict man, but also a very caring one. Yes Mr. Bhalla has enforced many disciplinary actions over the year, but never has he stopped him from pursing his happiness. Had he went and told he and Ishita wanted to marry, his parents would of happily agreed. But matters at hand wasn't that simple was it. The woman he loves, the woman who is going to be the mother of his baby didn't want marriage. How was he going to tell this to his parents? They won't understand. If he had told the truth the way it was. One, they would force immediate marriage upon on them and if Ishita would convince them otherwise like she did with him, their respect for her would be effected. His parents were after all the typical Indian parents.

"I had thought better of you Ishita" Mr. Bhalla told Ishita. Ishita bowed her head not being able to see any of them in the eyes. She wasn't expecting anything easy about this confrontation, but this wasn't how she imagined. Raman has lied about being married and she couldn't tell if that made the situation better or worse. All she knew was, only she was responsible for tension within this happy family.

"This is all my plan. Ishita never supported this" she heard Raman voicing a defence for her.

Mr. Bhalla stared his son. A part of him was happy, seeing his son defence his wife like a true man. And it's true he had a momentary contentment knowing Ishita was his daughter in law. But the feeling of betrayal was much bigger. Mr. Bhalla was the strictest with Raman of his four children, but it was also him he felt the most attached to. Name it the first child effect. He never thought he and Raman would ever have such relation where his son would start his own family without his blessings and that has hurt him.

"I don't want to see both of you again in my house. And anyone who want to keep any relationship with them can leave with them" Mr. Bhalla finished off looking at his wife and left the room before he broke down.

The ride back home was a silent one. Neither spoke a word. Guilt took over Ishita as she saw the hurt on Raman's face. The smiles she saw when she walked in the Bhalla house was over ridden by disappointments when they left. She hated herself for this.

He pulled his car into the parking space under their office building.

"Why did you say that Raman?" She finally asked.

"What else did you expect me to say?"

"You didn't have to lie we were married. "

"What should of I said then? Tell them I had a one night stand with my colleague and they were going to have a grandchild because of that? "He questioned

"No..." she trailed off, he was right, their truth was ugly.

He looked at her. Took a long breath before he spoke again "Let's get married Ishita"

"WHAT?!? Are you out of your mind?" She screeched in disbelief.

He shook his head calmly "No, this is the only solution for everything Ishita. Lets get married, a simple court marriage."

"No it's not and that's not possible"

"Why?"

"We don't love each other remember!!"

"I do...I do love you Ishita!" he confessed making her confused.

Silence took over once again. He couldn't have meant that she thought to herself. Realizing she hadn't react made him panic.

"As a friend." He added minutes later. "And I can't have people talking wrong about you, about us nor about our baby." He declared looking right into her eyes.

A faint smile crept her face as she her heard him speak. He cared. He cared about her about her respect and that felt comforting as ever. Till minutes before she had believed whatever transpired between Raman and her that night was accidental, a mistake, something that shouldn't of happen. But now it didn't feel totally wrong. If such thing was bound to happen in her fate, she was happy it happened with him. How does she reciprocate his care, obviously by not taking advantage of him.

"Raman, I think you need to relax. Let everything settle down first then we'll talk" she said opening the car door.

He held onto her wrist stopping her.

" I thought about this for a long time Ishita, please agree with me for once" he pleaded

"We talked about this Raman, we had decided over this. It's going to be fine, don't worry" She said as she cupped his face with one of her palm.

"The baby is also mine Ishita. That gives me some rights to decide over how my baby is going to be perceived into the world"

She looked at him puzzled. What has gotten into him? He seemed adamant then ever.

"So you want a loveless marriage for the sake of our baby and then what?" She inquired.

Oh how much he hated every time he heard her say the world, loveless. He loved her more than anything and he wanted to scream that to her face. But he couldn't.

She let out a sigh before she spoke again "I don't want to ever steal your future from you Raman. One day you might come across someone you really like and trust me you wouldn't want all these complications"

He let out a small sarcastic laugh "More complicated then now?" He asked her. How could it be more complicated then now? The woman he loves, the mother of his child doesn't want to be his wife.

"We will see if that day comes"

His remark confused her.

"Ishita ...I understand you don't want to marry a man you don't love but that fact is we messed up." He swallowed the lump formed in his throat understanding the meaning of the words he spoke.He didn't like it all.

His words didn't set too well with her either. This wasn't about her, why can't he understand that. She didn't want him to marry a woman he didn't love just because he impregnated her. He deserved better.

"Think of this as a contract. We get married and after sometime, we'll part ways saying it didn't work out between us." He tried to make it sound normal and casual.

She frowned, it just didn't add up to her. Realizing she wasn't convinced he continued.

"Nothing will change Ishita, we will be like how we are now. No strings attached. Strictly friends.Free to whatever we want and we can date whom ever we want and after 6 months or so we can get divorced and everything will be back to normal" More than her, he was convincing him self.

"Why get together to break later?" she asked as she thought on his words.

"You think you can handle me as your husband for the rest of your life then?" he teasingly asked, though he seriously hoped she would considered that.

She made a face, indicating she wanted a serious answer.

"Because I don't want anyone to ever address our baby as a mistake Ishita" He said holding onto her hand.

She let out a sigh. He had her convinced.

"Okay Raman if this is what you think is right, Let's get married." She said with smile.
