Iyers are melodrama..I don't know if I could do justice to their confrontation. Its not easy for parents accept such news easily. If I can't do justice I wont touch that department for now😳

Hello folks,sorry for the delay in the update. I was tied up with work. 😳 I know this is probably a short update, hopefully I can update again sometime this week, Thank you all for the support with this story! Please ignore any typos, I haven't proof read yet.

Part 7

Ishita, Mihika and Vandu came down together for lunch to the local cafe just below their office.

Vandu looked at Ishita "Are you happy Ishita?" She asked as soon as the waiter left placing their order on the table. She had been wanting ask this ever since Ishita and Raman broke their big news yesterday to everyone. This new decision the duo has taken made her worried, especially for Ishita.

Ishita gave her a brief smile. "what do you mean, don't I look happy?" she asked taking in a bite of her sandwich.

"It's hard to tell" Mihika responded.

" You see this is not how we imagined your future Ishu. You with Raman and a baby...without a marriage" Vandu said in a deep sincere concern for her friend, who is more like a sister.

Ishita smiled "I know, I know. This isn't exactly how I imagined my future either. But that's life right, nothing ever goes as planned. Especially mine" Ishita tried to respond in a chirpy tone.

Vandu and Mihika stared not buying her fake happiness, they knew her well enough for it.

"Guys I really am." Ishita again assured seeing their reaction. "Soon I will have a baby of my own, calling me mama and life will be filled with happiness. I won't be spending too much in the office as you guys always complain." She let out a small chuckle. "Instead I'll be with my baby! I'll go to the park, read stories, watch cartoons and sing lullaby..." she spoke dreamily about her future.

"Ishita is that all you see?" asked Vandu with a frown. " Life is not filled with just the happy moments and positive people. We know you, but the world doesn't. Once people find out about your pregnancy, they will run their mouth to whichever way they like, as if their only aim is to spill venom. I'm a divorced mother, trust me Ishita the world is cruel place. A woman's character is one of the favorite thing people like to degrade." The pain of societal judgements was very clearly heard in the voice.

Ishita sat in silence as Vandu continued, though nothing she said further registered in her head. Ishita wasn't dumb nor was she blind. She was well aware of the names the society was waiting to give her. She knew she will be perceived as a sinned individual and people will throw her glances of disgust. But she purposely chose not think about it, cause thinking about will only make her hate her life even more. Plus it won't help change her situation will it? All it could ever do was bring tears, which she felt she had shed enough already in her life. That is why she was focusing on the happy side, her baby.

The baby has given a new hope in life for Ishita, for the first time since the last 7 years, she felt like she had the need live for someone else. She felt she too had a purpose, she believed someone soon will also yearn and need her love like she is for someone's. And this time, there was no cheating to worry about, no one was going to her steal her place, make her feel unwanted, and unworthy. As the new relationship she finally got herself was totally different, this new relationship was just purity. A relationship of mother and a child and nothing could be flawless then that.

"Ishu..." Mihika's voice brought Ishita back into her senses.

"Well I'm not going to abort the baby, if that's what you two are hinting at."

"We are not..." Vandu and Mihika said in unison.

"Then?"

After letting out a heavy sigh "Ask Raman to marry you." Mihika stated.

"What?!?!?" Ishita screeched as she stood up pushing herself out of her seat in the bewilderment of Mihika's comment. Realizing her actions has gathered unwanted attention from the nearby folks, she quickly said sorry and composed herself back into her seat.

"That's the logical thing to do." Vandu came in support to Mihika's statement.

"What rubbish!" Ishita stated in a tone of anger.

"What' rubbish is you being okay with this so called idea of having a baby as friends, I mean is that what you going to tell the baby when it grows up?" Mihika asked trying to bring in some sense.

"Why not? It better then saying Mom and Dad married only because you were made but they don't love each other" Ishita said in her defense.

"Not every couple who enter marriage, enter with love. Love can finds its way later" Vandu said placing her hand on top of Ishita's as her eyes gave an assurance.

"Not to me, It had missed its chance with me and I won't wait for love...again" Ishita stated as her eyes welled as she recollected her past.

"You can't judge all men based one" Mihika said in plea.

"One was enough to teach me the lesson"

"Ishu. What we-"

Ishita got up and raised her hand indicating Vandu to stop. "I'm done here, I'll see you guys upstairs" She said as searched her bag for some cash. Once she found it she left in on the table and walked without turning back.

Ishita just couldn't get herself to concentrate on her work for the rest of the day. She sat back on her chair, closed her eyes and started collecting her thoughts. Just today morning she was happy after seeing the image of her baby for the first time, life seemed to be blissful. But that lunch time conversation has ruined it all.

It brought to her the painful memories and problems she wished not to think about. It brought her flashbacks of him, the man who destroyed her. The only man she knew she loved once, the man whom she believed would be her husband since her childhood, the man for whom she kept fast to ensure the longevity of his life, the man she planned all her life with, the man who after 10 years showed she didn't mean a thing to him all along, the man who left her for another, once someone better came along, the man who ruthlessly broke her heart. A tear escaped her eyes.

She has gotten over him long back, as soon as she found out his true face to be exact. She figured she was actually in love with an illusion and not a person as he was just acting all along. But the hurt she felt, still had an effect on her because though she given deceit, she was truthful. The break up has changed her, better in her appearance but worse in her expectation of love. She still believed in love, of course it existed they were many happily married couples whom she knew to prove it. But she has also come to believe love was not something meant for her.

The beeping noise of her phone, brought her back to her present, it was a message from Vandu and Mihika who has apologized for upsetting her. Ishita let a sigh realizing she has perhaps over reacted with them. She knew they were speaking in the best interest for her like always. Deep down she also knew Raman wasn't like the other. If she asked for marriage, he would agree, but that was not fair for him, was it. She was responsible a much as him for what happened. Maybe even more than him as it was her who took charge that night and now asking him for commitment just to keep her respect, sounded selfish. She knew he didn't love her. That is why she couldn't accept their suggestion.

She also couldn't also accept the fact she is going to be prone to the societal judgements. Forget the society, what was her own parents going to say to her once they found out. She can't be hiding from them for too long, soon or later, her Amma will march in demanding answers why she hasn't picked up her calls. As she thought about her parents another alone tear flowed down her cheek. She has become a coward, she was running away from her problems, but she had no options does she? She was simply a victim of a horrible scriptwriter who was writing her story, her life was out of her control...
