SHOT 2
Six months passes by and things went wonderful between Ishita and Raman. They shared one another's pain and happiness. They had never confessed their true feeling for each other, but there was something strange between that kept them connected to each other. Raman would often and on talk about Ishita to his friends, and eventually land up in an awkward situation when they teased him with her. They would ask him to propose, but his lie of being Shagun's so called boyfriend had doomed him. He cursed himself for drinking and driving that night. But then the next moment he would thank god, cause because of the accident Ishita had walked into his life. He wished that he hadn't said the lie of being Shagun's boyfriend. It's not that he had never tried telling the truth all these months, but the fear of losing her hadn't given him enough courage to spit it out. He knew that Ishita hated people who lied to her. And his main cause of meeting her is a lie. The guilt would kill him day and night. He would stare at her photo on his phone and talk to her, saying "baby! I'm sorry. I never wanted to lie. But the situation turned out worse as days passed by"
He was right, the situation had turned out to be worst. Shagun's parents had almost accepted him as their son in law. They would call him for dinner, for spending vacations with them, for the festivals they celebrated and eventually he had created an attachment for him towards them. He couldn't let things go, neither could he hold it.
All this went on until that day, when he had finally made up his mind of revealing the truth to Ishita and confess his love for her.
He had called up Ishita.
Raman - Hey!
Ishita - Hey!
Raman - Are you free today afternoon?
Ishita - yeah! sort of. Why?
Raman - Can we go out for a lunch?
Ishita - Um...
Raman - Please na yaar Madrasan. I've gotta tell you something really serious.
Ishita could sense the tension and seriousness in his tone. She had agreed for their meeting.
Everything was set. Ishita was getting ready and so was Raman. They were happy about being in each other's lives, until the phone call that had come from the hospital had changed everything.
Mrs. Arora - Raman! there's good news
She sounded excited. Raman guessed what the news could be. He hoped it wasn't what he was thinking. He wanted some more time with his Ishita. He didn't want to be introduced to Shagun, who didn't even know him. He didn't know how he would face everyone when they would come to know about the reality behind this entire massacre.
Raman continued, "yes aunty?"
Mrs. Arora - ohho! don't call me aunty. Moreover, the days are not far when you're gonna call me mom.
Raman - um...yeah!
Mrs. Arora - Guess what? Shagun is back from coma. She's in her senses.
That news of Shagun being back to her senses was his worst nightmare. He dropped his phone. He had almost collapsed. He felt like the ground was moving beyond his feet. He was sweating. He didn't know what to do after this. He hadn't planned anything. He was frustrated. He wanted to run away, but he could.
With hell lot of guts, that he had gathered while he stood in front of Mata Rani, joining his hands and asking for her help and blessings, he decided to face the reality.
*****
Hospital.
Raman walked in slowly. He had his head down. He walked like a toddler walking into his school on the first day. Ishita was standing right there. He went up to them. Every one looked happy and hopeful, leaving the two souls that stood there staring into each other's eyes.
Raman looked her. He could read her questioning, "now what?"
He felt helpless. Ishita's eyes were moist. She didn't want to let Raman go. She loved him but he was hers. She stood there staring at him.
The doctor came out the room and asked them to go in . They all decided to send Raman at last, as they wanted to surprise Shagun.
They all went in, leaving Ishita and Raman alone, outside the cabin. They both stood there, soulless, helpless. They exchanged fake smiles.
Ishita - Cool nah! she's back in her senses. You must be happy.
Raman - Are you happy?
Ishita - (looking away from him) of...of...Of course I am. She's my best friend.
Raman - Hmm...
Before he could continue saying anything, Mihir called him inside. Raman went in.
Ishita sat there alone, sobbing. For the first time she had fallen for someone in her life. Raman was very special to her and she let him go. She cursed her fate. She tried to rub her tears, and be bold enough to face the situation, but the tears from her eyes were uncontrollably falling down her cheeks.
Inside the Cabin
Mrs. Arora - Shagun! look who's here.
Shagun's eyes searched for the person. Raman walked to her bed, clearing her family crowd. Shagun stared him, unable to figure out who he was. She tried recognizing him, but she failed. Meanwhile, Ishita had come inside the cabin too.
Things were getting complicated for Raman. He didn't know how to explain everything.
Shagun - Who are you?
And that one question asked by her, left everyone shocked.
Raman decided to continue the lie. He didn't know what else to do.
Raman - I'm Raman, Shagun! You don't remember? We're in a relation from past 1 year.
Shagun looked confused.
Shagun - Who the hell are you? And what are you talking? who are in a relation?
Mihir - Shagun, what's wrong with you? don't you remember him? He's Raman, your boyfriend.
Shagun - How's that possible? I don't have a boyfriend. Ask Ishita. Where's she? Ishita come here and tell them.
Ishita was standing behind everyone. They all asked her to go.
Shagun continued arguing, "Ishita, tell them! Who's this man?"
Ishita - Raman speaks a lot about you. He knows everything about your past present and how you guys had planned your future. He's the one who got you to the hospital.
Shagun - Really? you know everything about me? Then tell me, what's my favourite colour?
Raman - Red or reddish shades. (he had read it in a conversation in her FB account)
Shagun - From which designer do I get my dresses stitched?
Raman - Meena Kaur (*frictional name*)
Shagun was shocked. She continued asking him questions and he kept replying. Raman knew many thing 'bout her.
The doctor walks in, " Look! patient is getting hyper."
Mrs. Arora - doctor She doesn't remember her boyfriend. what's wrong?
Doctor - I'll tell that to your later.
The doctor asked everyone to walk out. They all followed him.
Raman stood there breathing hard. He didn't know what was going the happen. He was getting roasted in this awkward situation. He stared at Ishita, She looked at him with suspicious eyes. Mihir came and stood beside him, patting his back and supporting him. Probably the Aroras that he was distressed after shagun's behavior.
After making Shagun sleep, the doctor came out.
Mihir - what's wrong doctor?
Doctor - there are some accident cases, in which the patient loses her partial memory. I think the same thing has happened with Shagun. I don't see any major problem in her internal parts of her brain, she might recover soon.
The doctor leaves everyone in shock. The memory loss crap, whatever the doctor had blabbered, kind of relived Raman. Ishita could finally sense something fishy when she saw Raman sighing after the doctor had announced about shagun's partial memory loss. She goes to Raman and enquires, " All okay?"
Raman - yeah! (with a fake smile)
Ishita - hope so!
Ishita's one phrase, "hope so" made Raman's heart race. He could sense the deep meaning behind her words. She was almost close to the truth but couldn't fit things in places.
*****
As days passed by, the doctor and the family had convinced Shagun that she had a partially memory loss and that Raman was her boyfriend. Raman being physically attractive and emotionally caring, made Shagun eventually fall for him. She had accepted Raman's lie as the truth of her life. She would ask Raman to spend time with her during the night time in the hospital. She would ask him about their relationship and how she used to be. Raman would make up a story each time and try avoiding the topic.
Shagun would say, "love you" without knowing the truth behind her so called memory loss.
After her recovery, when she finally moved to her house, she would ask Raman to stay with her. With Shagun's grace, they landed up going for dinners, lunches and shopping. She would call her up for every silly things like her shoe colour, hair style and stuff, which irritated Raman to the core.
On the other hand, this mess had left Ishita dishearten.
Shagun would ask Ishita to stay away when she was with Raman. Shagun had taken over Raman completely. Raman stayed frustrated all the time, and the hyperactive Arora family members super excited.
But the worse was yet to come, when Shagun suddenly publicly announced that she wanted to get married to Raman as she was convinced about she being in a relationship with him. The Arora family had already planned ShaRam marriage, when Shagun laid asleep.
Soon the Arora family met the Bhalla family and decided their engagement date. Shagun and Aroras were super excited, at the same time the Bhallas were super shocked. Ishita cried every night after Shagun was in her senses, and Raman would sit in a bar and drink. Ishita's and Raman's phone calls had reduced to nil. They would sob in each others memories. When ever they met, they just exchange intense stares until Shagun would interrupt and start her crap. Things had turned into it's worst phase. Raman was helpless. One single lie, single accident, had changed everything.
He used to remember the convo between his and the receptionist on the night of Shagun's accident.
"who are you?"
"I'm her friend. As in boyfriend."
He remember the first time when he had heard Ishita's voice, "hello Shagun?"
His life had turned into a jigsaw puzzle, where he had lost many pieces of the puzzle and he didn't know how to fix it.
*****
Thing were all set. Next day was the engagement.
Ishita had decided to leave for Chennai after Shagun's engagement. She wanted to be away from Raman and her memories with him.
Raman was sitting in a bar and drinking. He cursed his fate. He hated his life. The lady he loved, he let her go and was getting engaged to a girl, whom he didn't even know.
He wished he hadn't saved Shagun that night. He wished he had never met Ishita. He wished he was not drunk.
But then it was high time. He had to let thing come out. He couldn't let Ishita go.
Next day, everything was set, the Pandit asked the family members to get the engagement ring ready. Raman and Shagun stood in front of each other. While Shagun admired Raman in his gold and red shervani, Raman stared at Ishita, who stood behind Shagun with the ring box in her hand. She tried not paying attention. When the pandit had announced the groom to put the ring into the brides hand, Raman broke out. His level of storing things inside inside him had reached its saturation point.
Raman - Wait everyone!
Wait! Please wait!
Everyone looked at him.
Raman continued, "I don't know how you all are gonna react to this, but whatever I'm going to say in the next 5 minutes is the reality of my life. I really apologize to everyone before hand.
But the truth is, me and Shagun were never in a relationship. I never knew that she existed until that night when I was drunk and banged my car into hers. She laid there unconscious. I had called up this lady named Ishita and had fallen for her in the first time itself. In order to escape the police charges and other consequences I decided to lie in the reception that I was a her boyfriend. Shagun doesn't have any memory loss. She's absolutely fine. She was in her complete senses when she coudln't recognise me, cause she doesn't know me. But my lie had added to so much to the situation that Shagun actually lost her senses and imagined me to be her boyfriend. And then Ishita. All these months when Shagun laid unconscious in the hospital, Ishita and I had spent a quality time together. and eventually I've have fallen in love with her"
Ishita stood there hearing Raman talk, with tears rolling down her cheeks.
Raman continued, " I've never felt this way for any girl in my before. I had tried telling the truth to you Ishita, but could never do that. Do you wanna know why? Cause I love you, and I didn't want to loose you. And in this process of lie, I had become so selfish that I didn't realise that I was kept digging my own grave all these while.
I'm sorry Shagun, Mrs. Arora, Mihir, Maa, Papa, and every. I don't love Shagun. I don't even know her. And all those things that I told about her was facts that I gathered from her FB account, which was left open in her phone. Shagun's bag was and is with me till date. I had read all her conversations with friends, specially Ishita. It was enough for me to continue this lie. When I actually realised that things were out of my control, shagun called out for our engagement. I never meant to hurt her. She genuinely loves me right now, maybe. But this can't happen like this. I've storing this mess inside from past 10 months and now I'm done. I can't take it anymore."
After the whole speech that Raman gave, there was strange silence inside the room. People looked clueless. They didn't know how to react to the situation. Shagun left the place dishearten. Ishita followed her. Soon the entire room became empty leaving Raman alone. Tears rolled down his cheeks. He dropped on his knees and cursed his fate for this this.

3 months passed by.
Raman had settled himself in his job. He worked day and night to forget what had happened 3 months ago. He worked to forget Ishita, but the her words rang in his ears.
He hadn't seen her after that engagement night. He had tried calling her only to get rejected.
He remained like a soulless body. He had become a living machine, emotionless and heartless.
His family had tried consoling him, but it was all in vain.
It was until that day, when things in his life changed forever.
He drove to his office. He walked in.
His assistant held a file in his hand and said, "Sir, you've got a visitor.
Raman - who? Ask him/ her to meet me later.
Assistant - Sir she says that it's argent.
Raman - She?
Assistant - Yeah sir. Her name is Ishita Iyer. She has come all the way from Chennai. She has been waiting in the office from past 3 hours. I thought you would come at 8:30, but it's 11:30 now. We asked her to leave her number and that we would call her when You come, but she stuck to her chair not moving an inch.
As soon as his ears heard her name, he dropped the file.
Assistant - sir are you okay?
Raman didn't bother to reply him. He ran to the visitors area.
And there she was, in her blue churidar. The brightness of the colour, added glamour to her beauty. Her eyes were looked beautiful. She had her hair open and she looked gorgeous.
Raman walk up to her.
Raman - Hey!
Ishita - hi!
Raman - How come you're here?
Ishita- I wanted to reply to your proposal.
Raman - Proposal?
Ishita - yeah! the one that you did three months ago.
Raman looked away. Ishita made him face her and murmured, "My answer is yes"
Raman looked at her eyes and asked, "WHAT? What did you just say?"
Ishita - That I love you Raman.
Raman almost jumped on her and kissed her publicly. He immersed deep into her. He licked her lips and bite them. She smiled. He murmured while kissing, "I love you too"
And they continued with their kissing...

Raman held the child in his arms. She glared at him. She had her mothers eyes.
Nurse - Mrs. Bhalla is expecting you.
Raman walks inside the cabin with the baby in his hands.
Ishita lied there, cool and calm. Raman places the child in her arms and says, " I love you Ishita"
Ishita smiled. Her eyes were moist while she held the child in her arms. She had fallen asleep, as soon as she was in her mothers arms.
Raman - I've got a name in my mind.
Ishita - what?
Raman - Ruhi
Ishita smiled. Raman came and sat beside her. He hugged her tight and kissed her.
Ishita - I love you Raman
Raman - I love you too Ishita.
