CHAPTER IV

"Aao ke jab, Tum O saajna, Angana Phul Khilenge

Barsega sawa, Barsega sawan, Jhum Jhumke..

Do dil aise milenge"

Raman drove Ishita from her new house to the bhalla house. There was a strange silence between them inside the car. A sigh of peace, that had lost its way months ago. The sudden overflow of feeling from both the souls, that too publicly, wasn't something easy. They knew that they love each other, but the confession had changed everything in 360 degrees. They wanted to talk, love each other, but couldn't. All they did was looking at each other in 5 passing seconds, smile and getting back to the original position.

Ishita finally broke the silence, and asked, "radio on karu?"

(Can I switch on the radio?)

Raman looked at her. He was about to say something but his voice chocked in between. It was clear that the weird awkwardness between them was still there. Raman cleared his throat, making Ishita laugh beside him, and said, "sure, why not"

She switched on the radio. There was disturbance in few connections, and then finally she found and clear voice of a guy and a girl. She decided to hear their conversation. Of course, at least it was better than the strange silence.

Male voice - Hello Saina, aaj kal pyaar ka mausam chaya huya hai, tabhi toh dekho, pyaar ka izhaar aajkal log akele mein nahi, balki khullam khulla kar rahe hai.

(Hello Saina, this is the season of love, that's the reason, instead of confessing their love in private, people are doing it openly in public)

Raman and Ishita keenly listened to the conversation, and then looked at each other. Eye lock for a second and then looked away.

Saina (female voice) - Achcha? lekin aisa romance kiya kisne Rahul?

(Really? but who's the couple who romanced this way Rahul?)

Rahul (male voice) - Aise pyaar karne waale bohot hai, par aaj toh gazab ho gaya. Famous CEO of the year, Mr. Raman Kumar Bhalla, apney ruthe huye wife ko manane ke liye mall mein khullam khulla izhaar kiye hai.

(There are many out there to romance openly, but today's incident really amazed me. Famous CEO of the year, Mr. Raman Kumar Bhalla, Openly confessed his love for her wife, who was previously angry on him)

Raman and Ishita at once looked at each other. Their eyes had enlarged, not less than a ball. They were shocked to hear that their confession was publicized. Raman quickly switched the radio off.

Ruhi (sitting behind) - arrey papa band kyun kiya?

(Oh Papa, why did you switch it off)

Raman - Ruhi, Adi bhaiya hai nah tumhare paas, baat karo unse.

(Ruhi, Adi bhaiya is sitting beside you, talk to him)

Adi - Dad, main kya baat karoon, jab radio mein itni achchi baatein chal rahi thi. Mujhe toh school mein bhi log puchenge kal, kitna maza ayega. After all, sabko aisa mauka thode milta hai apney parents ka confession sunne ka.

(Dad, what do I talk to her, when the radio has such an interesting topic to discuss. In fact, people are going to ask me in the school tomorrow. It's gonna be fun, after all, how many kids get to hear the love confession of their parents)

Raman - bo..bo..bohot bolne laga hai tu. Chup baith.. (Raman mumbled the words out)

(You talk a lot, sit quietly)

Ishita - use kyun chup karne bol rahe ho, thoda wait nahi kar sakte the? Ghar aake bhi toh woh sab baatein ho sakti thi. Stage pe jaake bolna...how embarrassing.

(why are you asking him to keep quiet? You could have waited for sometime. Confession could have been done in the house also. Was it necessary to go up on the stage and talk such thing? how embarrassing)

Raman - Really? tum bhi toh "Raman I love you I love you bol rahi thi? ab pura blame merepe? Aur waise bhi...

(Really? Even you had confessed repeatedly over there, and now you blame me for all this? And moreover...)

Ruhi (cutting them in between) - Ofho! aap log abhi bhi lad rahe ho? Phir mall wale conversation ka kya?

(Ofho! You guys are fighting even now. What was the conversation back there in the mall?)

Raman and Ishita shouted together, "RUHI!!!!"

Ruhi (to herself) - maine kya galat bola

(where was I wrong?)

Adi (calming her down) - It's okay Roo.

And then the strange process of silence continued until they reached their house.

As soon as Raman walked in with Ishita and the kids behind him, Toshiji stopped them on the door itself.

Toshiji - Oye! rukh jaa..

(stop right there)

Raman and Ishita ceases their step which they were about to take. They looked at each other, confused. Toshiji finally speaks after seconds of silence.

Toshiji - Wadda kaand karke aaya hai mera puttar.

(My son has done a huge job)

Raman - kya bol rahe ho aap maa? Saaf saaf bolo nah. Aur yeh aise rokh kyun rakha hai hamein darwaaze pe? Aapki bahu aayi hai itne dino baad.

(What are you talking about maa? Tell clearly. And why did you stop us before entering the house? Your daughter in law is here about so many days)

Toshiji - Main kya bol rahi hoon? Puri duniya ke saamne apney pyaar ka izhaar karke tu mujhe puchh raha hai?

(Are you asking me? After confessing your love in front of the entire world, you're asking me?)

Raman - Maa aapko kaise pata?

(How do you know mom?)

Simmi - Aapko kya laga Bhai? aap bataoge nahi toh hamein pata nahi chalega?

(Bhai, what did you think? If you don't tell us, we won't come to know?)

Raman - Simmi dekh...

(Look Simmi...)

Romi - (taking the remote in hand) Bhai aap dekho

(Bhai you look at this)

Romi switches on the TV. Raman and Ishita were clearly visible on the Television, confessing their love for one another. The live show at the mall was a very famous show, and Raman being famous, the news had spread faster than a virus.

Raman - Yeh...TV...

(This...TV...)

Toshiji and everyone else stared at them. It was momentarily kind of scary, until toshiji raised her thumb up and said, "OYE!!! goode goode - goode goode". Every one out there started laughing.

Raman - Kya maa...Aapne toh dara hi diya. Ab andar aaye?

(Oh God maa, you scared the hell out of us. Can we come in now?)

Toshiji - Oye! rukh jaa khoteya. Itne dino baad ghar ki Lakshmi wapas aayi hai, uski aarti utarne toh de.

(Oye! mad fellow, wait for a minute. After such a long time the Lakshmi of our house has come back, let me do aarti first)

Neelu gets the Puja ki Thaali and hands it over to Toshiji. She does the Aarti and tells her to get in.

Simmi - Bhai, tennu pata hai? twuadde waaste inne saare phone calls aaye ab tak.

(Do you know bhai? There were so many who called up to talk to you till now)

Mr. Bhalla - O inna changa kaam kara hai puttar, Saddi maa toh bada khush hai.

(You've done a great job son, your mother is very happy)

Raman - papa, jung ladke nahi aa raha hoon. Woh toh aise hi madrasan ko dekhke flow mein nikal gaya. (looks at Ishita and winks)

(Papa, you're behaving like I've returned from the battle field. The confession came out of flow as I saw my madrasan right in front of me)

Papaji - O puttar, pyaar bhi kisi jung se kum hai. Bohot kum logon mein himmat hoti hai apney pyaar ka izhaar aise khulla khulla karne ke liye.

(son, love is no less than a war. And there are very few who actually have the guts to confess their love publicly.)

Toshiji - Oji ki gal kar rahe ho? Punjab da munda hai ji, Himmat toh hove hi hai.

(What are you talking? He's a Punjabi man, he needs to have guts.)

And their conversation continued, teasing Raman and Ishita, until Mihir and Mihika came in.

Mihir - Bhai woh Pandit... (sees Ishita) bhaabi?? aap yeha??

(bhai that pandit...bhaabi? you're here?)

Without looking at anyone else, Ishita's eyes first reached Mihika's presence with Mihir. Ishita stood up. Mihika too stop herself. All of a sudden, there was silence. Mihika and Ishita stared at each other, until Mihika spoke up, "akka?"

The word Akka, dropped the tear from her eyes. Ishita had come to know Mihika's truth. Vandu had mentioned about this to her. Both the sisters walked towards each other. They went near each other and stopped.

Mihika - Akka...Sorry...

Ishita hugged her as tight as she could. Mihika hugged her in return. They both were crying.

Mihika - Akka, yeh sab meri wajah se huya tha. Mujhe bata dena chahiye tha aap logon ko. Vandu akka ne kaha bhi tha..

(Akka, this is all my fault. I should have shared all these things with you all. Vandu akka had suggested me, but I didn't listen to her words.

Ishita - Nahi Meku, mujhe tujhpe bharosa karna chahiye tha. How could I forget that my sister can't afford to hurt her near and dear ones.

(No Meku, I was wrong. I should have trusted you. How could I forget that my sister can't afford to hurt her near and dear ones)

Mihika - No akka, I'm sorry. Apko bohot hurt kiya hai maine.

(Akka I'm very sorry, I've hurt you a lot.)

Raman and Mihir were getting bored standing behind them and watching their sentimental talks.

Raman - Arrey bass karo yaar tum dono. Meri galti, tumhari galti. ab ho gayi galti. Ho dono ke dono madrasan, ho jaati hai bewakoofiyan dono se, nayi baat kya hai? Aise Sambar khaoge toh aise chize hi chadegi dimaag mein. Ab yeh senti drama karke humari jaan khaane ki bewakoofi matt karo.

(Arrey, Stop it you guys. It's your fault it's my fault, how does it matter. What is wrong is wrong. Now you both are Madrasis, you guys can do the same type of stupidity, what's new in it? If you drink sambhar and all, these all things will only get into your mind. Now don't be sentimental and eat out brains.)

Ishita - How insensible Raman.

Simmi - Tum dono andar toh aayo pehele.

(you guys get in first)

They both went inside the house. Neelu makes chai and serves everyone.

Neelu - (to Ishita) Bhaabi, achcha huya aap aa gaye, aapke bina ghar itna khaali lagta tha. Aaj itne dino baat saari khushiyan lauti hai.

(Bhaabi, it's good that you've returned home. The house used to look empty without you in it. After so many days, looks like happiness is back in the house)

Ishita - Ab main aa gayi hoon nah, ab sab theek hoga.

(I've come back right, everything's going to be fine now)

Ishita assures Neelu. She smiles and gets back to the kitchen.

The family was having fun. They teased each other. Spoke about how Shagun left the house. How Adi had realised his every mistake and decided to get Ishita back. It was a normal family time that was going on.

Suddenly the door bell rings. Neelu opens the door.

Raman - kaun hai?

(who's there?)

Neelu - Bhaiya, pandit ji aaye hai.

(Bhaiya, pandit ji is here.)

Raman asks her to let him in. The pandit had come to fix Mihika and Mihir's date of marriage.

Mihir - Pandit ji, abhi aap sabse nazdeek taariq batayiye.

(Pandit ji, tell the nearest date possible)

Raman - Bada jaldi ho raha hai tujhe shaadi ka?

(you look like in a hurry of getting married?)

Simmi - kya pata, honeymoon bhi decide kar liya hoga.

(who knows? He might have decided his honeymoon also)

Ishita looks at Mihika and she blushes in return.

Mihir - kya bhai.

(what bhai)

Romi - Bhai, iska shaadi jaldi huya toh mera bhi jaldi ho jaata uske baad

(bhai, if Mihir gets married early then even I'll marry after him)

Toshiji - Oye chup kar. Bada aya shaadi karne waala. Sarika ko aane de pehele, phir tera date decide karenge.

(Oye shut up. you wanna get married. Let Sarika come here first then we'll talk about it.)

Pandit was seeing both the birth horoscopes of Mihir and Mihika. Meanwhile the door bell rings again. Neelu opens the door. Sarika gets in. She was happy that finally Romi was ready to take her and the childs responsibilities. The family had also accepted her as a bahu. But they wanted to get them officially married.

The Pandit decided a common and convenient date for both the couples to get married.

Pandit - 2 Mahine baad ka ek shub mohorat hai dono jodo ke liye.

(there's an auspicious date after 2 months, which is good for both the couples)

Everyone agrees to the Pandits words. Raman whispers in Ishita's ears, "shall we get married again?" Ishita hits him on his shoulder and he smiles.

The Pandit leaves. Everyone else resumes their work.

Toshiji - Tum log jaake fresh ho jaao (to Raman and Ishita)

(You both should go and get freshened up)

Ishita and Raman walks up the stairs and goes to their room.

Simmi and Toshiji starts making the dinner for the day.

The would be couples sat in main hall and discussed stuffs.

PRECAP - (last chapter)

They have fun during dinner.

Raman and Ishita's romance during night time.

Bala calls up from the hospital.

The Iyers comes back from Chennai.
