Purane vaade and Naye kasme *UPDATED * - Page 2

Okay, so I had typed out this long analytical post and then of course my laptop glitched and every single word that I wrote got lost into cyberspace. I don't remember everything that I wrote so I'm going to try and recreate a summary of what I had earlier.

I'm going to get my rant out of the way first so I can focus on the deep, meaningful stuff afterwards. I watched the episode only because of your post and collage Gan. I seriously was looking forward to a beautiful and meaningful IshRa scene, but I'm disappointed that I never got it. I watched the episode with total blinders on; I FF every single Shagun and AsMi scene. However, I could not FF or get past the one line that ruined the entire episode for me. Why did Raman have to start his romance with "you know what Shagun and I would do on this day"? That one line made the rest of his words and actions seem empty and meaningless. I tried really hard to look past that one line to enjoy the promises he made to her, to gush over the hug, the gifting of the earrings, and the indirect but almost direct utterance of the three magical words. I think that I would have been gushing and fan-girling so hard over that scene when he said "I love these earrings" if it hadn't been for the Shagun line right at the beginning of the episode. Okay, rant over.

As promised, now onto the good stuff.

Advice for Raman:

"You can't start the next chapter if you keep rereading the last."

Raman's past is so dark and haunting that it becomes difficult, nearly impossible for him to look away from it. This is a pattern that we have seen time and time again. The KKHH moment between him and Ishita was a direct result of Shagun's taunts to Ishita about her own KKHH moment with Raman. The holi dance was a ploy to show off in front of Shagun and Ashok. The salsa dance was to show off yet again that Ishita is picking up the pieces that Shagun left behind. The romantic moments today were again in direct reference to Raman and Shagun's anniversary. As much as I have fallen in love with IshRa, I find it difficult to stay in love with them because of the fact that Raman never truly reads IshRa's chapter because he is in some way rereading RaGun's chapter. YHM is a mature love story that connects two individuals, each with their own set of problems, insecurities, and dark pasts. However, if we are to be able to say that IshRa are truly in love with each other, would it be wrong to expect a complete closure of the past chapters of their lives? After all, closing a chapter does not mean tearing it apart and placing it away from the rest of the book; it just means turning the pages of the past in the book of life. Is that too much to ask for?

Advice for Ishita:

"If you live for people's acceptance, you will die from their rejection."

Raman is Adi's father. Ishita is Adi's stepmother. Adi is a part of Raman's life, hence he is a part of Ishita's life. These three facts are just that, facts; there's no denying them. However, Ishita needs to stop trying so hard to gain Adi's acceptance. Adi may never be able to have the relationship with her as the one that Ruhi shares with her and Ishita needs to accept this bitter truth. Adi's rejection is going to affect her more deeply than it will anyone else simply because she is trying too hard to gain his acceptance.

Advice for the Bhalla Family:

"You don't always need a plan. Sometimes you just need to breathe, trust, let go, and see what happens."

Stop crowding around Adi to make him feel at home. If you want him to live in a normal household environment, behave normally around him. Stop trying to make him feel extra special while you ignore and put down the other kids in your family. You don't need to plan parties for Adi or get him special gifts to give him a normal family environment. Instead, please just take a deep breath, go about your daily activities (go to work Raman, go to the clinic Ishita), and let Adi see how a normal family behaves. Cooking up plans to make Adi feel more special is only going to instigate him to feel more like an outsider and a guest. Breathe and let the poor kid breathe too. Don't expect him to change overnight; he's been away from you for 6 long years. It takes time to build trust, so let go and let him gauge his true feelings about you. Don't put up an act of trying to be overly excited or overly happy. Sure his mother is feeding him lies, but eventually the normalcy of your behavior will catch up and win the kid over.

Advice for IshRa:

"Marriage is a mosaic you build with your spouse. Millions of tiny moments that create your love story."

IshRa's love story for me will always be the nok-jhoks and banters, the gifting of a toothbrush, the stolen glances in a room full of people, the secret fasting, the practicing salsa all night to outperform your wife, the learning Punjabi and Tamil for each other, the cooking classes to learn how to make palak paneer, the applying balm, the alteration of a too small dress overnight, the confusion between undergarments and dental molds, the getting wet under the shower, the late night walk full of meaningful conversation, the falling asleep on each other's shoulders at the hospital, the staring into each other's eyes while fighting for the remote, the...okay I could go on and on but I think you get the point by now. Basically IshRa is unique because of all these lovely moments. Sure they came together Ruhi ke liye and Ruhi is a major part of IshRa's mosaic (perhaps they can add a few moments for Adi ke liye later on), but in the end what makes IshRa is the millions of unique moments that only IshRa have shared, not the ones that were recreated by Raman with direct reference to Shagun. So go on Mr. Raman and Mrs. Ishita Bhalla, live a little and capture more unique moments to add to your mosaic, ones that we can truly call IshRa moments, not RaGun moments part 2.

Hope I didn't go overboard Gan. It's been too long since I participated in a discussion and I guess I just couldn't stop!
