"Yeh wala New Year bahut special hai...kyunki Raman aur Ishita ki shaadi ke baad ka...yeh pehla New Year hai" Ishita says...and with this, she amps up the excitement quota for New Yr...for a disinterested, grumpy RKB.
"Aap iss khushfehmi mein mat rahiye ki aapse related pehli baar wali baatein yaad hai mujhe" she quips, as Raman looks on skeptically, with a slow, crooked grin spreading on his lips, totally NOT believing her tall claims..He looked soo dangerously handsome in expressing that little nuance...just 3 seconds of THAT moment, and he made my heart do flip flops. I LOVED how DT said 'Khushfehmi"...she's got this radiant, pretty smile and looks like a million bucks crinkling her shapely nose, and teasing Raman...
Ishita goes back into time and recollects how "pehli baar'' their eyes met...Into the flashback scene...the "Excuse me Newspaper" wala moment where Raman Bhalla was the original Angry Young Man, with an attitude and a swagger that stood out miles away...mouthing a reluctant, expensive "Whatever...thank you"...In the white kurta and that clean-shaven look, Karan Patel looked so...RAW. There's no other word for it.
And THEN came the inevitable...The GIGANTIC card with the ominous scribbling of 'Happy Anniversary, Raman and Shagun' came by..."Sunke bahut accha laga ki tum aur Raman ab phirse saath hi reh rahe ho.'
Ishita is shocked...taken aback...disoriented...insecure even...but I feel...DT could've allowed MORE of those feelings to come to the surface...but maybe, that's the most we can expect oF iSHITA...understated, there-and-barely-there, volcanoes tucked beneath a huge amount of composure. Having said that, it was a RELIEF to see her open that little window inside of her, and let us have a peek into her vulnerability.
I am amazed NO ONE in the Bhalla house suspected this nonsense. I am amazed RAMAN didnt call Shagun on this bullshit...or atleast think WHY and HOW on earth ANYONE would do something so randomly stupid, knowing fully well ShaRam divorced AGES ago.
The whole Bhalla family has sat down to discuss ADI's problem. I am tired of HOW many times Ishita uses the word 'NORMAL', 'NORMALLY' in her lines...Does she think the Bhallas are so bloody illiterate and insensitive, not to mention BRAINLESS, that they'll go up to ADI, and ask "Durr phitte munh..mera baccha...tu ISS UMAR mein bhi bistar pe susu kidda hai?"
I get it that she is the ONLY one with a medical degree in the entire generation of the Bhallas', that doesnt warrant the unnecessary redundant lectures she keeps handing out to everybody. OF COURSE, No one in the Bhalla House would humiliate their Ghar ka Chiraag, and embarrass him, by asking him such a personal question! Ishita Bhalla, Get over yourself.
Mihir SUDDENLY materialized and handed Ishita the tickets for New Year Party, sponsored by Raman's company. I was glad to see him behave 'NORMALLY' despite trying to keep up with a brainless woman like Mihika.
WHAT makes Shagun think the Bhallas should REMEMBER, and CELEBRATE 31st Dec, as ShaRam's marriage anniversary? Bordering on borderline Narcissism, are we?
"Tu dimaag se nahin, kahin aur se sochta hai aaj kal" Suraj tells Ashok. LOL. Somebody in YHM has the ba*** to say it like it is. Atleast Suraj doesnt buy the utter Bullcrap about ASHOK's luurrvvve and shaadi et al.
Ashok assures Suraj that he has understood 'Mihika's game and will pay her back in the same coin'. Like it was a GAME in the first place! It was an excerpt lifted straight off comic books.
And so ASHOK tried to play HIS 'game' by begging and pleading to her (on his knees) to go for the party. Making Ashok say "please" twenty time made Mihika think she's high on the list of 'Top Ten Bitches of Indian Telly Soaps'. SuShok are a DRAG. A BORE. I will take them seriously when they pull off something earth-shattering...
Amma and Romi are going FULL SWING on the Jagga Jasoos mode. Romi has NO intentions of turning Byomkesh Bakshi for Amma, but interested in hogging all he can of South Indian meal platters...
Toshi ji saw the inevitable - Her laadla son seated at the dining table at Amma's...with food piled on... Keher barsaya unhone Romi ke upar.
"Mera khana boring hota hai?" Toshi ji charged Romi.
"Oye, tu ise paise deti hai? Mere bete ko ghuus khila rahi hai? Hum kya bhikhmange hain?" Toshi ji thundered over Amma's head. AWESOME SCENE. Looked like one of those taken from Priyadarshan's movies...animated hand and head gestures on mute.🤣
And as usual...Shravu with his gap-toothed smile, egging the Bhalla and Iyer senior ladies on..was soo cute!
I LOVE it when both the samdhins get on each other's nerves. Figuratively pulling each other's hair, and pinching each other's buttocks😛...Figuratively, of course. And I cannot praise Shannaz ji's acting enough. The Punjabi flair, the durr-phitte-munh aggressiveness, only she can pull off...
PRECAP - They dont make men like Raman Bhalla ANYMORE naa? He's such a sweetheart...such a devoted, loving, PROTECTIVE husband. He knew Ishita was upset with the whole 'ShaRam' marriage anniversary thingy..and so to prove, that SHAGUN with her low-cut spaghetti blouses didnt stand a chance before his conversative, shy, beautiful Pagal Madrasan...he gifted her "khaandani zewar" to her ...to commemorate their love...to prove his love endures...and will be sealed forever.
Shagun, on the other hand, sheds crocodile tears in front of ADI, complaining to him, how his father gifted the "khaandani zewar" to Ishita, on the day of the marriage anniversary itself. ADI looks on, perplexed. Confused. Such a shame. I didnt know women could use their disturbed, vulnerable children as pawns in games against their ex-husbands...
But I am happy, that ATLEAST Raman did not let the bad mood fester on... ATLEAST he didnt look awkward and nostalgic, and bitter, and back in Shagun la la land. Its New Year Eve...and the whole world can wait till he gets done securing the heart of Pagal Madrassan 😳
P.S. As long as Raman DOES NOT fall for ANY of Shagun's tricks, and keeps finding new ways of keeping his wifey happy, am game. If Ishita finds her brains back, it would be easier for Raman to ensure THEY get to sleep beside each other the rest of their lives..ADI, or NO ADI.
For the record, Ishita Bhalla isnt into materialistic stuff..so on 31st...in the New Year Party, Raman would benefit in gifting his prized X-RAY glasses to Ishita, and "inviting" her to put them on and see his 'very real self' under dimmed lights..and a glass of champagne...🤪
