Hey Doc - ah what a way to begin a day thank you for this beautiful post and that lovely little life-lesson. Do you by chance hold any literary honors? Sorry if I am being too personal but couldnt help ask. If so beware, I may bug you to ask recommends on books - specially philosophy - a field that fascinates me, so yeah fair warning there before you start wondering who did you indulge. 😆
Coming to tonight - since you say you have yet to watch the earlier episodes of the show I am not quite sure if you would know of this but a scene I couldnt help but remember as I read your post has to be mentioned here. This one is before the marriage - the night when Raman won the award as the CEO of the year - interestingly added another feather to his cap much like this night when he was announced as the new ABG head.
Then he came home drunk and saw a woman - his neighbor looking towards his home and stumbled to her. This woman had by some cosmic connection got attached to his daughter by then, the connection so strong that as a woman, a mother who was as of yet not labeled so - she sensed something was wrong with the child. She merely wanted to have a look at the girl to calm herself, instead she met with the father who wasnt even in his senses. He insults her, demeans her and says she is looking for him and his daughter need not be used as an excuse. He slurs he knows what she wants and gets impossibly close to her...she fights him and pushes him back, still he manages to stay on his feet and takes a wad of cash which he forcibly thrusts into her hands as he says - this is what all women want...and then passes out.
The woman is disgusted, angry but yet helps him and later his child too. She saves the girl but is branded as a kidnapper - a move which ends up getting her parents arrested and her engagement broken yet again. Later on this very move would prove her as a woman that is a mother through and through - she would be asked to marry the man who is the father of that child she loves and their journey would begin.
Tonight life came a full circle when he was in much the same place and she was as well. The difference being then he had generalized all women and assumed them to be replicas of his wife whose mind was only focused on greed...that night he offered cash...this night - he offered himself but more than that he sought to claim. Then his mind was too influenced by his past - a past that only seeked gains which made him react the way he did..this night he saw what he provided in the past wholeheartedly was the one thing he held back this time around - and it would cost him dearly. He was reminded not all gains are monetary, not all wealth can be measured in terms of status...not everyone seeks the same things.
He had assumed that night power, status ruled the world but this time around he saw that when it comes to things that matter - things which are real - power and status does zilch, in these matters you have to put yourself out there on a personal level, which he had failed to do this time around, he learned influence doesnt hold a candle here. And that is what he did at last - he spoke about learning the value of relationships and claiming rights, he spoke about becoming a husband, in the truest form from a namesake one. His frustration, anger and insecurity becoming the reason he mocked his wife. His intentions to bridge the distance that he couldnt permit any longer to stay between them, his way of going about it - absolutely wrong,
To prove himself to his past he rose in stature, to hold onto his present he ironically fell from grace. How they make their way now lost between the darkness of the past and the shadows of the present would make this marriage.
