This is just a short OS on how I would have liked the morning after scene to have played out.
Ishita stirred in her sleep and as her eyes fluttered open, she almost let out a small scream before realizing that it was Raman who was sleeping next to her. Unbeknownst to her, a small smile appeared on her face, "Ravan Kumar, how innocent and peaceful he looks in his sleep," she thought to herself, so unlike the man she had known six months ago when she had married him. As she continued staring at him, she realized that Raman was curled up and was shivering slightly due to the coolness of the AC and did not even have a blanket to cover him. Protectively, she pulled her covers over him. Just as she was about to get up to get ready for the day, Ishita realized that her hair was caught between Raman's arms and there was no way she was going to be able to untangle it without waking him up - which she didn't want to do. Resignedly, she lay next to him watching the man whom she had come to accept as her husband. Ishita's thoughts wandered over all the wonderful moments they had shared over the course of 6 months and thought about how much stronger their relationship was today even though it started off as a compromise.
Just then Raman moved his arms and while Ishita tried to gather her hair to get up, Raman unconsciously wrapped one of his arms around Ishita's waist taking her by surprise and sending (what could be aptly described as) shockwaves all over her body. This was a sensation that was new to her; she had never felt this way before and didn't know what to make of it. As Raman pulled himself closer towards her, her heart started beating faster, she had butterflies in her stomach and her cheeks had turned crimson red. She could feel his breath on her face and her lips quivered at the thought of (well, I'll let your imaginations run wild here - he is her husband after all J).
Ishita slowly tried to wiggle her way out of the embrace when Raman woke up. "Was he imagining things, or was Ishita looking more beautiful than ever," he thought to himself as he stared into her eyes. It was only when Ishita averted her gaze did he realize how close they were. He swiftly moved his arm and sat up on the makeshift bed not knowing what to say. "Raman, how is your back?" he heard Ishita ask. "My back, oh, it's fine. Sorry, I couldn't sleep on the couch last night which was why I moved down here, I hope that's okay," he said while Ishita was busy folding up the sheet. "It's okay," Ishita said shocking Raman. "Did his Jhansi ki Rani just say that it was okay for him to be sleeping next to her in such close proximity? It must be his good day," Raman thought. "I figured the couch must have been uncomfortable which is why you must have moved down here. I'll get a carpenter to come and fix the bed today so that you can sleep on your own bed tonight," Ishita said getting her clothes as well as Raman's suit ready. "Ishita..."Raman started. "Hmmm..." Ishita looked back from the door. "I'm sorry, you don't have to sleep on the couch anymore. I didn't realize how uncomfortable it was and you have had to sleep on it for the past six month. Why don't you sleep on the bed from tonight, it's big enough for the two of us and we are mature adults, I mean sleeping on the same bed doesn't mean that something has to happen between us," Raman told an absolutely shocked Ishita. "Raman, but...," "No, buts, " Raman interrupted. " You are sleeping on the bed from tonight and there are going to be no arguments about it," Raman said and headed towards the shower leaving a shocked and tongue-tied Ishita behind. Ishita sat on the couch allowing a multitude of emotions to wash over her. "What Raman said was true - they were mature adults, although they did act like kids at times - and there really was nothing wrong in sleeping on the same bed - a king size one at that," Ishita thought to herself. "But what does this mean exactly, especially about our relationship? I mean we are friends now but after what she felt this morning, is there something more, something deeper that is evolving between them," Ishita didn't know what to make of it but she decided that she was going to take it one step at a time.
