Karan Patel stars in the hugely popular Yeh Hai Mohabbatein as the hotheaded, but has-his-heart-in-the-right-place Raman Bhalla. In a chat with our publication, Karan discusses co-star Divyanka Tripathi, romantic scenes and real-life romance.
Favourite romantic moment so far with Divyanka on screen: I think almost all of them (are my favourites). They are not run of the mill, overly dramatic scenes. They are extremely normal and do reflect how people would romance in real life as well, and that is what makes it more relatable. Divyanaka and I always try to add our personal touch to the scenes.
On real-life romance: My ideal woman would be someone with both beauty and intelligence. Someone who can hold her own in a conversation, gets along with my family and respects elders, loves children and have a sense of humour as whacky as mine. Someone who'll love and pamper me because I can get pretty childish at times!
The one mis-perception people have of you: That I am arrogant that's not true at all. I'm the opposite.
Emoting tough scenes: I am an actor and that's the most important thing to me. I cannot imagine a life where I would be anything else but an actor, so putting all my energy into a shot comes naturally to me. I enjoy my work, which makes it that much easier for me to perform. I am a different person in front of the camera; it comes to me with as much ease as breathing."
Something fans don't know about Karan Patel: I am quite a fitness freak. I may not have the time to sleep but a workout is a must. I've even set up a small personal gym on the sets.
