Ishita tells her mother Raman pyar karta hai lekin Shagun ko-- She says pyar requires kismat which she does not have. Subu loved her and she loved him but they could not see the culmination of their love in marriage. With Raman they did not marry for love so she feels she is not justified in expecting it and blames her luck, Raman feels after all his priorities are his children-- for the moment it's Adi-- and he can go to any extent to protect them. At no point of time Ishita admits her love for Raman nor Raman admits his love for Ishita. . Poor Mrs Iyer through age and experience can see it but grappling with the next generation to convince them and tell them -- it's time to let go and live your life, enough has been done about the case ---somehow does not work. She is talking from a vantage point which existed in the past. I think this phenomenon is manifest across the board irrespective of nationality and culture.Generation Next can never be convinced by their elders .It is the same language the elders speak yet it makes no sense to their children. That is why Dharma says obey your parents without questioning and makes it a mandatory duty. Ram obeyed his father and went to the wilderness and rid the world of a demon. If Ishita listens to Mrs Iyer and Raman realises the truth of his mother's tirade against him then once for all the demon of Shagun will stop plaguing EVERYBODY'S life .
