I am a huge fan of the series by GRRM and this quote features among the top 10 of the series in my list.
Now I don't mean to play a spoilsport here so I hope nobody hates me, but the breakneck speed with which we witnessed almost half the spoilers for this week already in Saturday' episode makes me wonder will the exposure of the truth by Raman be actually worth it?
When it was revealed Ishita would be framed by PervMeet and accused of coming onto him the forum was quite divided on what Raman' stance would be - thankfully we were not made to wait for long for the answer or to see what Raman actually does about his belief. He was up and about the next morning itself to prove his wife' innocence without dropping a hint even to her.
Now tonight he would hear PervMeet threaten Sarika, and by tomorrow I believe he would be laying the facts out in the open for his family and the Iyers, even Bala and Vandu along with Mihir might be present for the scene.
I am assuming tonight would be hogged by Shagun and the visit from the judge, not leaving much time considering there are commercial breaks and all.
And while all the forum is celebrating over this, I wonder will this actually turn out to be as easy as we are being made to believe?
Last episode we witnessed Simi stating to her mom she believes Raman would have Ishita back sooner or later, and considering Toshi was silent when the statement was made - she too considers its a highly possibly event, that even if Raman may not trust Ishita she would be back in the home even if only for Ruhi' sake. Simi is even furious with her brother for staying mum and not asking her husband to stay back, support him in any which way. After Raman drops Ruhi at the Iyers once again, the mother daughter duo are up in arms against Raman - they aren't even trying to understand his POV and believe as a son, a brother he ought to support his family first - over his wife, a woman he barely got to know a few months ago. The morning Mihir came to check on Ishita, on Raman' orders Toshi even said he is her son first and she would see to it, he stands by her and make Ishita realize he is her husband only thereafter.
These two women are blinded by their love and worship of that monster - the wolf in sheep clothing- PervMeet to the extent I wouldn't be surprised if they accuse Raman of tarnishing his BIL for the sake of his wife.
After all the spoilers clearly state Simi would stop Ishita when she would be asked by Raman to slap that monster... now if Simi wanted to do the honors herself... I could have understood this, but it doesn't seem the case here.
Also Raman has a history that would stand against him - of favoring a woman he loved back then madly who did turn out to be an adulterer, by going against his own father.
And Sarika - the chief witness has been considered a woman of lose morals by the Bhallas as it is, even before they knew she is Ishita' secretary and post the fiasco where Ishita herself landed up in jail, will even her truth be considered the truth here?
For all his skills and wit, Raman can only look for the facts, lay them out in the open to his family - let them know the findings of his investigation, but he cannot make them believe a truth, a hard truth - for all that its worth. He cannot force Simi to even consider the scenario her brother is not lying as he cant make his mother understand that her thinking which believes- damaad bhagwan hota hai and apne bachche kissi ke kehne se bhure nahi ho jaate are all utter nonsense and absolute bullshit.
Toshi knew Ishita had forgotten her cell at home and yet supported the allegations her daughter and SIL made, I doubt she would even mention or accept that she knew Ishita' phone was at home all along.
These women didn't even bother to give Ishita the benefit of the doubt, even though they knew PervMeet has been accused of a similar crime in the past - this though she is family, whats to say they will believe Raman?
It would absolutely be devastating for Raman to know his own family thinks so low of him - which somehow would make him realize the extent of Ishita' pain even more, even if he is already aware of it.
Truth isn't just stating the facts and verifying the authenticity of the same with enough concrete evidence that cannot be challenged - it is a belief as well. And for all its worth you cannot make people believe in the truth they cant even begin to accept.
With the lines drawn and the Bhallas divided in two camps, IshRa would interestingly be all on their own in a way even when they have each other' support, if such a scenario does happen in the show.
