Rommi made me think....

Well as many said here in this forum rommi is pervmeet in making. Right now rommi cares for his family and that's the only redeeming quality he has. And that should be used to correct his flaws now. Rommi is shown to be a very real character. This is how boys in india are brought up. They are from a small age taught to feel greater than women. Bhalla family especially toshiji thinks like that. Remember the entire aditya ghar ka waris hai thing.

What rommi does is wrong but the fault totally lies with his upbringing. Now this is a chance for him to learn. I especially was waiting for rommi's reaction to this whole pervmeet revelation thing. When ishita was accusing pervmeet rommi was very disgusted and it was clear he believed ishita till the messages came into play. Even when simmi was getting physical rommi restrained her from hurting ishita.

See that clearly shows he respects his bhabhi and cares for her. Now when he sees the suffering she will go through after this entire thing he will realise the pain of his possible victims. And so he can change.

Dont get me wrong. I don't support rommi's action till now. What he did with mihika was absolutely wrong but he can be saved. He still has that much humanity in him. He is not beyond repair. But that can only happen if he after realizing his mistakes accepts them atleast in front of mihika and asks her to forgive him. If he just realizes and keeps quite then for me atleast he is not redeemed.

This track also made me think On a larger scale. we women need to realize that we are part of the problem right now. We women worship men in our families like god. that's where the whole problem starts. Women should 1st and fore most respect themselves.

A child learns to respect women from home.

A son respects his mother if she makes sure her husband gives her equal respect. For example If she takes any shit from her husband and only slogs at home without being appreciated for her hardwork then the son too takes it for granted. The mother should also make her husband and son do the work once in a while to make them understand exactly how hard it is to do house work.

A mother should not only ask her daughter to learn housework but also the son.

When a criminal against a woman is born the fault first lies with the parents.

True both father and mother bring up a child. But the responsibility lies more with mother because she is a woman. Hence she should be more active to make sure her son doesn't turn out to be rapist or harasser. Father can be more responsible for other aspects of the child's character.

Also women should actively learn self defense. Instead of cooking and tailoring women should be thought karate and stuff to protect themselves first.

Once i was watching a serial and there was a nice dialogue in it. "Why make women of your house stay at home after dark to protect them. Instead lock up your sons at home so that the women out are safe."

I don't exactly know how the discrimination at home takes place. Because i come from a family where my brother and me are equal in every way. Not just for namesake but literally. For example we both have equal curfew timings. And even if we are late we both have to inform at least by a phone call where we are. And even between my parents the housework is divided by days. 3 to my dad and 3 to my mom. And Sunday to me and my brother. 😆

So i wouldn't know how hard it is to stand up for yourself in a discriminatory environment. But still not standing up is still wrong and cannot be forgiven.

I know i have ranted for a long time. Thanks to all who read this post. Its mostly that i am a die hard feminist. Please think about this. And please comment and give your views to.😊This is a topic which needs discussion.

A lovely post on gender inequality!! Really well said. It made me think..
Firstly Injustice to a women is wrong,
And secondly even accepting that injustice and not speaking up, is also wrong.

Even I noticed Romi defending Ishita when Simmi got physical. But somehow I cant forgive Romi for what he did to Mihika! For godsake!! It was an MMS

True...even i can't stand it. And that will always remain in my mind even if he does get redeemed. That was really bad. But if he does confess to mihika then I'll atleast find him bearable. But it should be he confessing because of his consciousness rather then getting caught. Then if mihika doesn't forgive him that too i can understand. But he should slog to get her forgiveness. And that too Not because of any love factor but because he is guilty.

Very good post.

I would like to post a couple of quotes here

The emotional, se*ual, and psychological stereotyping of females begins when the doctor says, "It's a girl." - Shirley Chisholm

Power can be taken, but not given. The process of the taking is empowerment in itself. - Gloria Steinem

Very very wise post.

First telling about the show. Even I too was waiting for Romy's expressions. And, those were impressive showing a small chance of his being corrected.

And, in our real life : recently I have come to a case of a couple where, the husband thinks that women will always live with them in spite of how much they are being tortured or exploited, cos they are week. When my mom said this to me...I was like speechless. Even in this modern era, people can think like this dirty??? You said you are mostly a feminist. Even, I too am kinda like that. And, seeing around our world..it makes a woman think like this forcefully. Whatever, the reason I found with that husband's thinking is the woman herself. She doesn't reply or protest back most of the times when she is unnecessarily rebuked or tortured. She keeps silent most of the time...why, she thinks about her children. I get it she is a mom, she will think mostly about her children. But, what about that man? Are the children not also his? Here's the problem. Women think whatever happens they will have to be with her family at any cost, for that she even dies. But, they don't fight for their value and respect in the family. And these thoughts also make her children do the same.
So, it's woman herself, who should 1st stand for their rights and equality, others won't fight for a woman...if fights, it's rare case. And it's the reality.

Totally support you in both matters. Romi is still raw to be moulded and shown the right way. Another hell will break loose when what he did in college will be caught and revealed by Bala.

I agree with your comment that boys/men should be taught at home from a young age how to treat women both by mother and father. He should be taught that any girl/woman is somebody's sister/wife/mother. I wish government take up a stand to introduce awareness campaigns and ads to bring that understanding to all people. Wonder why they haven't yet.
