So I am late in making a post for the famous dress scene... but I believe sometimes that's a good thing because it allowed me to make this post after viewing last night' epi which had the first sweet phone convo scene between IshRa, which we know will make Raman pick up that something is bothering Ishita as per the spoilers.

Honestly each and every day I am getting more and more surprised by YHM, in a good way credit completely to Sonali mam, the fab writer of the show I hope she sticks with this one till its last epi... new writers mess up the flow of the story and the dimensions of characters in my opinion.

So getting on with my topic - I am so amazed by Raman as a character. He is my muse whenever I write something in terms of an FF for this show - his head is a mess and therein lies his appeal to me 😆 Okay so I like convoluted characters a lot. Guilty as charged 😳

Like I said in the beginning this post is my POV on the dress scene... now in the hilarity that we witnessed I missed this myself the first time around... even the second and the third - but finally on my fourth or fifth round at this scene I suddenly started to have a different approach for it.

We have seen how Raman was obviously so affected by Ishita' makeover not only did he shut up the moment he turned around to answer her... his knees kinda went weak too 😆 he had to sit down, thank goodness for that TV unit else the guy would have landed on the floor for sure...but moving on

The thing that triggered my need to make this post were mostly two moments - Raman biting that file - which of course has a lot of interpretations 😆 but mostly... to my twisted mind was - him still not being able to absorb this fact that Ishita could prove him wrong, and Raman if anything is someone who now loathes to take back his words... bite his tongue so to speak.

So of course, fate intervenes or should I say writers here and he soon has a way to get back at Ishita.

He simply cannot accept that what he knows is wrong... especially when he has been secretly giving so much attention to her, observing her... yes he may not know her completely as of yet but he has begun doing so - as a person, as a woman. Thanks to our little cupid Ruhi who intervenes time and again - he has even begun to know the little things about her - favorite color, favorite ice cream flavor and the list would def grow with time ...

The control freak that he has become post Shagun just cannot accept things to go any other way but as per him - for him its my way or the highway and for him to be proven wrong in a matter which in hindsight is trivial but deep down is his firm belief that he has begun knowing Ishita was a blow to him.

And once he was satisfied with his findings, had the result he needed by making Ishita bite back her words... tease and annoy her 😆 he finally had that peace... that wow, so I was right feeling which finally, finally makes him let his guard down, as his expression changes when Ishita is sewing on that button on his shirt - he was finally able to let go off that mask he always has on... which is the second moment that served as the inspiration of this post.

He finally let himself look at her now that he had that I was right confirmation... really look at her and accept he has a beautiful wife... a woman who is just as beautiful on the outside as is she on the inside.

As we have already seen in the second epi of the show, post Shagun Raman' transformation was not just in his monetary status or his looks but his thinking as well.

He had women throwing themselves at him because they found him attractive - but mostly for his money... which even made him insult Ishita and her family a lot previously by labeling them as gold-diggers. A fact that Ishita threw in his face before their marriage was fixed during Ruhi' custody trial when she landed up in his office as he got Subu' mom to go to that lady judge to try and brainwash her about Ishita. She let him know all the women dying to marry him just want his money and nothing else.

To hear a fact which he always knew but couldn't accept made him want to insult her then... but post his marriage to Ishita he has been humbled into accepting that not all women are like that.

Ishita has never asked a single thing of him and not because she is independent but because she has no interest in his money... in his fortunes, rather what matters to her the most is Ruhi... and now his family, which is slowly and steadily even extending to him. Her saving him in that land deal has made him realize that this woman, someone he loathed has always and forever been someone who helped him out - even when he didn't ask it off her.

The speech in Tamil- his thank you for the world to hear was his acknowledgement and humble acceptance of his prior wrongdoings. His way of apologizing to a woman who he knows he has publicly shamed a lot prior to their marriage.

His way to admit - that yes, I misjudged her when I did those things in the past - now I know what an amazing woman she is - a perfect mother, wife, daughter, daughter-in-law and a successful professional. Someone I am lucky enough to have in my life.

It was his acceptance of Ishita as a beautiful human being, someone he has begun respecting.

Now slowly with that acceptance - with him getting to know her for the person she is and realizing his mistakes... he allows himself to look at her as a woman too... a beautiful woman who he is getting attracted to.

I really am loving the approach of the writers here with IshRa' story, especially Raman' angle.

For a man who once was fooled by a woman he fell madly in love with because of her looks, only to be later cheated on by her, he became wary of all and any beautiful women, and with him encountering more women like Shagun, that belief just got firmer and his faith stronger.

But Ishita turned the tables so completely on him - his attraction for her began as a person first- the mother of his child, the perfect bahu of his family and finally he is allowing himself to be attracted to the woman who also is his wife.

Her beauty is the last thing that he is allowing himself to acknowledge.

He was visibly affected by Ishita' proximity which wouldn't allow him to look at her for long ... but also forced him to look away, especially the moment he turns his head around when Ishita had to lean in... especially the second time around when he could stand it no more - which made him take refuge in their comfort zone - taunts and bickering. this thing - a button scene is such a old Hindi film cliche but the layers somehow just added to its charm to me. They amaze me.

Prior to this scene, where he admitted casually to having checked his wife out numerous times... Raman would have eaten dirt than admit he does so, but here he not only did it, he gloated about it..

In a successful marriage, sex, physical attraction do play an integral role... but that is not all what a marriage is all about, its about being with a person with whom you would love to be with outside the confines of your room too.

Ishita already has become the person to Raman, who he can proudly call his wife for the world to know. He doesn't waste a moment now, any chance he gets to bring her up in his conversations. Now he is merely allowing himself to be with the woman he is gonna spend the rest of his life with and admit, yes she affects him - on all the levels that matter in a marriage - all the platforms that make you want to be with a person - their qualities as a human being and the physical attraction you obviously feel for them.

IF this post makes no sense, I am deeply sorry but I just had to say this. 😳

Aani great post! 👍🏼 I agree with each word of yours. You just reminded me of the days we used to postmortem each and every expression, emotion and gesture of Gunjan 😳😆

Anyway coming back to the topic...RKB is one heck of a complicated character. The best word to describe him is IRONY! He is ironic, in his ways, in his values, in the way he he feels and in the way he reciprocates. And that irony has happened to him more of because of Shagun. When she betrayed him, he basically didnt change, but put on himself, a sheath of defensive covers. The covers of coldness. The covers of harshness. The covers of indifference. So the world sees him as a shrewd, feeling less and heartless individual and stays away from him. Thats what he has been doing since day one. Whenever he witnessed a woman similar to Shagun in her ways he used that experience as a potion to strengthen the hard covers he'd build around himself. Its nothing but his mechanism of defense.

But when Ishu came along, he would have never thought that there could also be a woman who could actually break through all his layers of defense without actually even letting him know. Its like an army of a dozen soldiers may not open a metallic door with swords and knives but someone ignited a candle of warmth below that metal and it just melted away, on its own! 😳

Raman is actly very new to be at the receiving end of such selfless love and care. So for him its kinda different experience. He tries to hold his defenses back, tightly, but she just does something totally out of the world and he cant help but go along the flow. And all this is happening in such a sub-conscious manner to him that he doesnt even know! Poor chap 😆

I feel theres this one line from the pakhi song which suits RKB just perfectly..."Jitna bhi main bandhu khudko, utna hi bahaye mujhko...Teri aakhein teri baatein aur teri saansein" 😳 😳 RKB and his layersss have begun to melt and give into his dr love...soon the heat of that warmth will exceed his levels of toleration and holding back...and then the lava of love shall burst!!!

I found the button sewing scene one of the best in that episode. Not only coz I love cliche scenes of course.

What was interesting that for the first time Raman was shown disconcerted by Ishita's close proximity. The teasing and the taunts have always been there which he used whenever Ishita was near but this was the first time he was confused and surprised about her impact on him. I bet he did not figure that out when he asked her to sew the button else he probably would have turned tail 😆. While accepting Ishita as part of his life, he is still not ready to give himself over completely ... but he is getting there ...slowly.
Was also amazed to see how much Ishita has accepted him, there was clearly no discomfort on her part in her nearness to Raman.

While I have been dreading (still am) the coming track, yesterday's progress was amazing. Raman's distance from both Ishita and Ruhi even for a day has made him realize their importance. He missed them. Bas. 😆

And then comes the best part ...he not only called back his wife concerned about both Ruhi and her, but actually settled down to have a normal conversation with her. The earlier RKB would have probably cut the call after knowing that Ruhi was fine with a few of his one-liners thrown in. But ... he did not do that. It was so clear that he missed her and wanted to speak to her. Now that was progress 👏.

Excellent Post Aani 😃 ... always makes me post a long reply.

Such a beautiful post how could it not make sense. I loved the part especially where Raman is allowing him to be attracted by Ishita's physical beauty only after he is already convinced of her qualities and attributes as a human being clearing all his earlier misconceptions n jaded view of women due to shagun only.

This post makes perfect Sense to me n u have said it most Beautifully 👏👏👏

This is no love story of two novices ... this is d story of two people battered by life's experiences ... n dealing with them in their own different ways ... two people who r polar opposite to each other ... n who r thrown together by life's circumstances ... n inspite of themselves r falling in love again ...

Raman's Trust in n Respect for women have been shattered by Shagun ... n he has to relearn it first, before he can approach Love again ... n Ishita's proximity, her approach to life n her actions help him to do exactly that ... n Hats off to you for peeling d onion of this journey of Mr RKB ...

Now its time for him to give Ishita what she needs ... Ishita cannot respect people who withdraw support n run away at d sight of crisis ... n I m hoping that Pev-eet track is going to b when Raman chooses to stand behind his wife's truth n by being instrumental in exposing d pervert, proves that he has truly learnt to trust his wife ... n then - can love b far behind ... :)

Thank u for sharing this insight into Raman Bhalla ...

Uttara :)

Your post makes a lot of sense Aani!
I agree with you. The writers are doing a wonderful job. Their simple, realistic and subtle approach is heart winning. Frankly, after yesterday's phone scene, I am speechless. I haven't read the spoilers and I don't intend to. I have decided after the phone scene, that come what may next week, I am not going to worry because I have seen the titles of various posts where the worry for Ishita is clear.
Coming to yesterday's episode, it was beautiful how they have missed each other. That small moment between a husband and wife was heart touching. I forgot the rest of the episode because of that scene. The scene also portrayed how, after marriage, a husband becomes everything for a wife. She looks in him for a friend, a confidante and all the other relations she has left to start a new life with him.
Karan Patel and Divyanka Tripathy, hats off!

I must congratulate you for this beautiful post. Very well written. You have said everything about Rman and Ishita's relationship that needs to be said. I'm loving the pace of the show and the character of Raman has always intrigued me. And yesterday's scene, which was hardly a 1 minute phone convo b'w them said like a million things about their relationship and the impact of the button-sewing scenes, the cute fights, the thank you scene was beautifully mirrored in that short phone convo. You're right the entire credit goes to the writer and if CVs do read this forum, it's my humble request to them to not change the writer of this show.

Exactly Zara, he allowed himself to take note of her beauty for the first time in a very obvious way, he couldn't fight the effect she was having on him and yep though they have hugged twice... this moment had its own level of intimacy, especially since she was invading his space.. since he could look at her, her eyes and not look away 😳
