No marriage till Ssharad proposes to me-Divyanka

Divyanka Tripathi and Ssharad Malhotra have been together ever since they worked in the 2006 daily soap Banoo Main Teri Dulhann. But they admitted to their relationship only now. And Bhopal girl Divyanka says that Ssharad confessing his feelings for her publicly came as a surprise to her too. "Ssharad is such a shy guy. He never expresses his feelings to me, let alone declare it to the whole world. And suddenly I get to hear about this interview where he's made it official," Divyanka says.

So, hasn't Ssharad proposed to her formally yet? "Our relationship is like an arranged marriage where the girl and the boy mutually know where things are headed. We've been together for over seven years, but our love has been like an unspoken truth. Kuch ajeeb si hi hai hamari love story," the actress says. But she's definitely expecting a proposal from Ssharad. "Of course, I'm waiting for a proposal. He's the guy in the relationship; he has to go down on his knees before I say yes (laughs)! I'm like any other girl who would like her man to sweep her off her feet," Divyanka declares.

Talking about marriage, how did her parents in Bhopal react to the news? "Well, my parents have known about us and they've been waiting for us to take the next step. I remember my father read the news and called me saying, 'lagta hai galat news chhapi hai'. I told him, 'nahi papa, iss baar sahi hai'. My parents are fond of Ssharad and are happy with my choice. The best thing about Ssharad is that he is not a spoilt brat and respects my family," Divyanka says.

But Divyanka says marriage is definitely not on her mind. "I'm too tied up with my TV show. And Ssharad also wouldn't want to jeopardise our careers," Divyanka says, adding, "But yes, whenever we decide to tie the knot, we'll have to hold three-four parties. We have a lot of family members and friends all over. His are in Kolkata, mine in Bhopal and we have friends in Mumbai too."

Like her contemporaries,will we see them in reality shows? "We are open to doing shows together. But the offer should be substantial enough. We recently did a short film together, A Divorce To Remember, which got a positive response. Apart from that, Ssharad is busy shooting for a film and I'm tied up with my daily soap," she explains.

She is all praise for Ekta Kapoor. She says, "This is the first time I am working with Ekta and I'm enjoying it a lot. She has that quality of bringing out the best in people."
