My 2 cents;

the word behenji is supposed to represent someone who has no sense of style, which incorrectly also implies that they have an old-fashioned outlook towards life

a 'behenji' wouldnt decide to adopt and raise a child as a single parent
a 'behenji' wouldnt drive around in a curfew
a 'behenji' wouldnt tackle problems on her own, without needed the protective cover of a man

She cannot find anything bad to say about Ishita's personality, so naturally she attacks her looks. only because her blouse cuts arent modern, and her sarees are traditional.

Bichari aur kucch bol bhi nahin sakti na Ishu ko 😆 If you reverse it, the only good thing anyone would have to say about Shagun is her sense of style 😆

Well said. Shagun really has nothing against Ishita other than her dressing. Not that there is anything wrong with Ishita's style of dressing.

it is merely a bitchy snobbish way of putting a woman down

just as one wearing revealing dresses , short skirts is called bitchily a s**t by those who do not have the figure to carry off those kind of outfits

same way 'behenji' is used to stress on the dull , non glamourous , non appealing facet of a woman

a woman who wears short dresses , backless blouses and designer saris etc can be nice by nature and not necessarily a s**t

a woman who prefers not dressing that way and not flaunting her sexuality overtly need not be dull or a behenji

u see its simply a matter of choice . Choice of a woman .

In rape cases its often argued that even if a woman dresses in short skirts etc , its not her fault , its her personal choice and freedom , the dirt is in the mind of a man .

Similiarly if a woman dresses simply , traditionally etc its her choice , no one can mock her for it .

There is nothing behenji about being highly educated . Infact theres no behen or bhai about being a dental surgeon . Its a very high qualification . It is beyond gender .

Ask Parmeet the jerk . He sees the woman inspite of the traditional dressing . He does not find her attractive only in designer saris and low cut blouses . He finds her attractive exactly that way . He may be a classic jerk but in a way its a compliment to Ishita's beauty as a woman .

Why should Ishita wear a designer dress for 'elevating' her status as a woman . No way . She should wear a designer dress if she feels like it .

Raman should find her attractive , like Parmeet , in her usual wear only .

She is a dental surgeon , drives , manages finances , loves a kid thats not biologically born , is fearless , and she is a behenji ? What a laugh . How educated is Shagun , has she even passed out of college ?

Parmeet the pervert had checked Shagun out but he chose the 'behenji' . 😆😆 Parmeet the pervert has actually slapped Shagun the woman who prides herself on not being a behenji .

There is no behenji and no s**t ...they r merely phrases coined by bitchy women to put each other down .

Beauty and appeal is in the eyes of the beholder.

One should wear what is comfortable for him or for her.

In our serials, only vamps are fashion conscious and dress trendily.

I never understood this behenji concept in serials
it is majorly used by vamps while taunting the lead actresses..and then suddenly one fine day the actress is shown wearing modern clothes
just because you were Indian clothes and behave with dignity it makes you behenji?? what rubbish🤪

I too have the same doubt in my mind...
What is wrong with "Behenji avtar??
And what is the greatness in modern avtar, except revealing body parts??
I noticed in manyHindi TV serials mocking behenji" avtar...
But, in reality, most of the Indians follows it & comfortable in it...

One more thing I want to say " The madrasi avtar showing in TV serials & many hindi movies is actual mockery..
South Indians are not always following the same dress code, oily hair, & jasmine flowers..
it is actually common here on some special occations only.. like Ponkal, etc..
Most of the south indian girls wear chudidars now a days...
& there is a big difference in dressing, language &culture in south Indian states..
i don't understand. even in shows/movies showing Tamil background, they mingle it with Kerala Traditional "Kasavu sari" & Kathakali...
there is a lot of difference in our traditions, infact we all proud that we have our own Tradtion & culture...

i dont get why the word 'behenji' is so offensive. i'm not a hindi speaker. what i think the word mean is someone who is not attractivee to typical males who cant see beyond physical appearance, someone they might want to call sister. and I would personally prefer to be called behenji than 'sexy'. because to me the 2nd word seems like I'm being considered only for that kind of relation, not as a human being. but sister is a word of respect. so I'm proud to be a behenji, traditional, conservative but independent

I'm Pakistani but I'm very simple, I don't wear western AT ALL only if it's necessary I don't wear make up, I'm going to be 22, and I guess the reason because I'm not so modern guys don't look at me in a different way but why should I change and become something I'm not? But Ruhi is proving a point which is different.
