Fab! Fab! Fab!
Loved the update. Raman's liberation & realisation was wonderfully portrayed! Getting drenched without a care in the world & happy that love has walked back into his life, i just can't wait to see Raman Kumar Bhalla confess & Ishu to fall for him ;)
But on second thoughts this love could be his love for Ruhi too. LOL.
Super curious to know how the story progresses. Do update soon! :)
Chapter 2
Two and a half hours earlier.
He cannot believe it! The gall of that woman! How dare she? How dare she take Ruhi away without letting him so much as hug his daughter? Allow him to kiss her cheek and let her know how very happy she just made him, how proud and overwhelmed he feels at the love that was evident in his daughter' speech when she spoke of him, her papa.
He hadn't realized he was crying so very much, hearing his daughter' recital while she stood on stage during her elocution competition and spoke so highly of him.
He was sure he deserved none of it. He has been horrible to Ruhi. He knows that. Yet, yet his daughter - his sweet, sweet Ruhi considers him the best papa in the entire world!
Oh sweet lord what had he done to deserve this sweet loving child? How did he come to be so very lucky? How could he have believed fate was unjust to him?
He... he let Shagun' deceit and Aditya' anger overpower the love of his beautiful little girl which was a gift a hundred times over - more powerful than any pain he might have felt because of Aditya and Shagun, more beautiful than he had ever realized. More giving; in its capacity to love than he had ever encountered before.
His daughter is the most amazing child in the universe and she loves him! She loves her papa so very much.
If this was not reason enough to cry tears of joy, he did not know what could be. It was when another harried father who had reached the venue just in time standing beside him had spoken, asked him if that was his daughter on the stage who was saying such amazing things that he had snapped out of his reverie to answer him.
The man had congratulated Raman on having such a beautiful little girl and mused he would be so very happy should he be lucky enough to be blessed with such a lovely gift too soon. It was then, that Raman Kumar Bhalla, a man who prided himself at admonishing people could only proudly look on at his daughter while he replied to the man and said he would pray for it to be so.
The man then let him know he has a son who is as old as Ruhi and he and his wife were wondering should they have a second child at all - and he had been in two-minds about it, but because of Ruhi, he now knows his answer. He wants a daughter. He does not want to miss this amazing feeling and hopes one day it is him, who cries on just like Raman.
His wife walked up to them then and the man walked away with a smile on his face, thanking Raman after a handshake.
Raman Bhalla is amazed all over again.
His beautiful little girl touches hearts of those who meet her in an instant, and the guilt takes over as he recalls how he had overlooked this gift, that was his, all of his only from the beginning.
Now no more Raman, he vowed to himself. He would be a father who deserves a daughter so amazing.
As the winners were announced, it was no surprise when Ruhi had walked away with the first prize among her peers. It was not just the pride of a father, which had known right away that his daughter would win, it was he realized a foregone conclusion; a verdict, which his soul and heart just knew would be made.
Therefore, he had dashed off to the backstage stumbling upon his feet, to reach his daughter to swoop her up in his arms with joy and learned she had went with her mother just minutes before he reached her.
It pissed him off.
Though he rushed to the parking lot, it was useless since he could not catch up with them. Ishita was already gone with Ruhi and he was stuck yelling out to the parking attendant to find the idiot who had parked his car so close to his own. He couldn't even squeeze in between the cars, let alone open the door, get in, drive off and chase Ishita' car until he had caught up with her and held Ruhi in his arms.
It took the parking attendant fifteen minutes to find that idiot.
Another ten to get the keys of the car parked immediately next to the one parked by the idiot so that it could be moved and in effect allow the other owners to move their cars as well.
With each passing minute, he angered even more.
Why the hell did he have to park his car in this spot at all?
Why couldn't he have parked his car somewhere else other than between this stupid wall on one side and the car parked by that idiot on the other?
He was goanna kill someone today.
Forty-five minutes after Ruhi was gone with Ishita, could he move his damn car; but only after he had blasted the useless attendant along with ten other parents. Not to mention a few of the school' staff members who had been unlucky enough to cross his path.
Raman Bhalla was a man on a mission and he was not about to let anything delay him any further.
Only he had not accounted for the roads being jammed because of stupid political rallies, construction work and people who could not drive immediately after the signal turned green.
Hence, he reached the coffee shop near his place after a good quarter of an hour, which should have been an easy ten minute drive from Ruhi' school.
It was as if the whole damn universe was conspiring against him, to not allow him the chance to love his own daughter!
By the time, he reached the coffee shop he was mad enough to murder someone with his bare hands and given enough time to realize, that blasting Ishita in front of Ruhi would not earn him any brownie points, as it is his daughter is angry at him.
Therefore, he called Ishita and asked her to meet him in the coffee shop as he instructed her to avoid taking the car; it would not help it if she got stuck in traffic too. She agreed to meet him and sounded as pissed off as him as she replied she would be there in twenty.
True to her word, Ishita was at the coffee shop after twenty minutes.
She spotted Raman nursing a cuppa, as he looked ready to kill. It took her a few seconds to recollect this was the very spot where they had met the night when their marriage was fixed and for once agreed on something - that this marriage would be for Ruhi' sake and Ruhi alone.
She could hear it in her head again, them trying to one up the other with the mantra - "Sirf Ruhi ke liye." - While she walked away with the last word.
It was at this moment that their eyes met each other's from across the cafe, and they realized this was another war!
She walked towards their table and took a seat. Just as she was about to open her mouth, a waiter came in and asked for her order.
Mindlessly she ordered an espresso, just to send him away.
"You have absolutely no shame do you?" she spat suffusing venom in her voice.
"That's rich coming from you." he spoke just as arrogantly.
"What's that supposed to mean? I am nothing like you." was her incredulous response.
"I will tell you what it means - it means you are instigating my own daughter against me. Do you know Ruhi has never ever been so angry before? She never had any temper tantrums but because of you, I have been dying to just get my daughter to TALK to me for almost a week now. You are making her like yourself - inconsiderate and uncouth."
Raising an eyebrow, she caustically replied to him in the same vein.
"Me? It seems to me you are confused here. If Ruhi is becoming inconsiderate and uncouth- in your words - it is all because of you. Parents, both of them influence the kids, you are just as much to blame for everything she does, and this one is solely on you. Let me remind you, your daughter is angry because you lied to us, because you duped us. You took us to that restaurant only because you wanted to fulfill Adi' demand and nothing else. Give into his uncalled for tantrum. Ruhi witnessed that. She was hurt not because of me, but you. You were and are the one who did wrong. You did not come even today. "
"Shut up! "He roared, unconcerned about the attention he was inviting and went on.
"I was there, I reached the venue, I heard Ruhi' speech and what did you do? You took her away before I could reach the backstage to congratulate my daughter on her win. Let her know how happy and proud I was. You did that, not me."
As embarrassed as the uncalled for attention made her, she couldn't rein herself in
"I just did what Ruhi asked me to. We did not see you at the venue. How was I supposed to know you were there? Did you bother to call me? Text at least to let me know you were in the auditorium. No, you did not. After the ceremony Ruhi was hungry, she wanted to eat something and wished for something hot and homemade. What was I supposed to do? Starve her. So don't you blame this on me Mr. Raman Bhalla.
Besides I am not like you, I do not try to meddle and do things I have no business interfering in. You played my Amma and Appa and got them to keep Trisha as a PG. They love and trust you and you; you end up using them time and again just like you use everyone around you."
"How dare you? I did not force Trisha on your Amma and Appa, they happily took on her charge and it is not as if I am making her stay free at their place. She would be paying; in fact I paid an advance myself on her behalf to your Appa."
"For you everything is about money isn't it? My Amma and Appa took her in because they cannot refuse their jamai, not because they are hungry opportunists who cannot wait for the chance to dupe people."
He banged his fist sending the cup on the table crashing on the floor and stood up, his whole body shaking with anger.
"Enough, Ishita. Enough is enough. I will not tolerate your nonsense any longer."
She stood to face him and with fire in her eyes replied to him
"Nonsense? Raman Bhalla the truth always seems like nonsense to you. You are a lowly opportunist who is playing with my Amma and Appa' feelings and the lives of Mihir, Mihika and Trisha. All this for a contract? Just a contract? Do you even THINK what will become of them if this marriage goes through, Mihir and Mihika love each other and you are blinded to the fact, because you think love is a sham but the truth is your sham will ruin three lives. Do you not realize once Trisha knows she is being cheated, she will hate you and your contract will be as good as gone? For a man who has been on the receiving end of a betrayal Mr. Bhalla, I am sorry to say you are a bloody hypocrite. Because you are doing the exact same thing that was done to you, and you have no regret whatsoever as well, as you do it. "
Saying so, she stormed off from the cafe.
For a moment, he could not believe his ears. How dare she insinuate he is a cheater? A liar, an opportunist?
He, he is nothing like Shagun. Nothing like Ashok at all.
It boiled his blood being compared to the two people he hated the most in the entire world, to be considered in their league, as one of them.
Seething with anger, he took out his wallet out from his pant pocket, hurriedly found a thousand rupee note, placed it on the table and followed her out on the street.

Hey Navz 🤗I am honestly telling you this came out of nowhere, I cant explain but it just did. The news of the hug and some over active imagination worked in tandem here and made me write this 😆And I am so so happy that the first chapter is something that gives you a glimpse of something and yet reveals nothing 😈 And The first rain scene was something which I really really liked especially how Raman is willing to handover his coat to her but not drape it around her shoulders like a cliche hero would, he leaves it on the branch.Even a midst an ongoing battle of sorts among them , there where this sense of decency and a line Raman wouldn't cross that got my attention. He could be a man willing to help a woman, but he definitely wouldn't play the mills and boons type hero 😳
