They were drinking before but they would hide it from there kids and did not want to show to the family that both the husband and wife drink so much.
But lately they are showing that not only are they drinking infront of there kids but they are drinking with there kids.
I do think that the drinking thing is over the top and its too much. Seeing someones mom and head of the family drink like that does not look right at all. Simmy is a new mom who by the look of that baby of hers she must be still breast feeding her baby and she is and has been drinking like a fish. I dont think Etka is showing that the right thing on the show
