I'll add a few things...
The girl wears a nine yards saree that's typically tied in a very different style than the regular six yards saree. She also sits on her father's lap just before the "thali" tying ceremony.Regarding "first nite" over the years the parent prefer to send the couple to a good resort/hotel to give the couple some privacy. Also over the years Mehandi ceremony has been adopted by some iyer families as well although it was not part of the culture.I doubt we can expect a whole lot of authenticity in the serial. One thing that had me in spits was Ishita calling Mihika's mom "Periamma".😆If Ishita's mom is Mihika's "Periamma" then wouldn't Mihika's mom be Ishita's "Chitti" ????😆😆

Nice. I'll add a few things...
The girl wears a nine yards saree that's typically tied in a very different style than the regular six yards saree. She also sits on her father's lap just before the "thali" tying ceremony. In the afternoon of the wedding, post lunch, the two families get together along with some relatives and have the bride and groom play some fun games . The whole point of it is to serve as a ice breaker between the two families that have entered a relationship and also provide for some light hearted fun moments amongst all the rituals and ceremonies.Regarding "first nite" over the years the parent prefer to send the couple to a good resort/hotel to give the couple some privacy. Also over the years Mehandi ceremony has been adopted by some iyer families as well although it was not part of the culture.I doubt we can expect a whole lot of authenticity in the serial. One thing that had me in splits was Ishita calling Mihika's mom "Periamma".😆😆😆😆If Ishita's mom is Mihika's "Periamma" then wouldn't Mihika's mom be Ishita's "Chitti" ????😆😆
Yes dear...periamma means big mother...Mihika calls Madhavi (Ishu's mom) as periamma which means her mom is younger to Ishu's mom...
And periamma in tamil is big mother i.e; mother's elder sister isn't it?
