Chapter 3
Ishita stared at nothing for a long time just thinking. She still could not believe that Raman threw her out of his house at midnight right after she told him that she was expecting his baby and to make things worse she read in the newspaper that a woman was found dead in the morning that same night that Raman had thrown her out but then she could not linger on the past because it was now present.
She checked her watch and saw that it was 4.39 and she needed to leave at 5 o'clock to fetch the twins from the nursery. Her phone ringed and she decided to check the caller and found that Mihika was calling her.
She picked it up 'Hello Mihika'
'Hi, Ishita, sorry about ditching you today. I want to take you out tonight' Mihika said.
'Mihika you know I would love to go out with you but I will have to find a babysitter first' Ishita replied.
'Don't worry about that I already called your Amma and she said she will babysit the kids'
'Okay what time then' Ishita said.
'Is 7.30 too early for you?' Mihika said.
'No, its fine where are we going then?'
'Do you really have to ask?'
'Okay see you at 7.30 bye, I have to fetch the twins now see you'
'Bye'
With that Ishita hung up the phone. Ishita knew that she had to tell her amma about Raman but she did not know how to tell her amma that the twins' father left her just like her father. She did not have the guts to tell her that history has repeated itself all over again. She went to the nursery and took the kids to the apartment and her amma was already there.
She told amma to look after them for her and she will come later. She bathe them, dressed them for cold especially Aditya because he was still grumpy. She reminded her mother to make sure that they were in bed by 7.30 and to give Aditya his medicine before going to bed. She then hurriedly went to her room and search for something to wear.
She went to the shower after that she put her makeup on nothing too major just mascara, eyeliner and some lip gloss. She then went to the closet and took something to wear. She wore a black designer jean, white vest and she put on her blazer and some high heeled shoes. She then checked herself in the mirror and was happy with what she was wearing.
Ishita said goodnight to the kids and promised her Amma that she will be back before 11. She then went to her car. She was late by 10 minutes. She searched for a parking spot then went inside the restaurant.
She spotted Mihika and went to her.
'Sorry, I'm late' Ishita said.
'It's okay I just got here myself' Mihika said.
'Okay then shall we order the food' Ishita said.
Mihika laughed.
'I already took liberty and ordered something for you I hope you don't mind'
'I always eat mushroom and cheese burger here so no problem' Ishita exclaimed.
'I still can't believe that you can eat anything and still not gain weight... I'm jealous' Mihika said.
They both laughed,'you know my secret is always take the stairs and drink plenty of water'
'Ha sorry, my friend but I still don't believe you' Mihika said.
'Okay then but you know very well that I don't go to the gym what with having two kids and a job' Ishita said.
Prateek their good friend came with their drinks 'Hi, Ishita, how are you?'
'I'm good, you know I just saw someone who looked exactly like your kids' father but I know that it's impossible because he died maybe he had a twin brother' Prateek said.
Ishita went pale and asked 'Where did you see him?' Prateek did not pay attention and pointed to the right corner.
He then looked at Ishita and saw how pale her face was.
'What's wrong Ishita' Ishita said.
Suddenly Prateek said 'Ohhh, he didn't die, did he?'
'No, he did not' Mihika intervened.
'Well I should go to my other customers and I think he is coming this way, bye girls, see you.'
Ishita looked where Raman was sitting and saw him gone and just as Prateek stated he was heading in their direction.
Ishita did not know whether to cry or laugh at that moment so she excused herself to go to the bathroom but just as she was about to stand up Raman said 'Hello ladies, what a pleasure to see you all here'
Mihika replied because her friend was still shocked.
'How are you Mr Bhalla?' Mihika said.
'I'm good and you ladies' Raman said.
'Oh, we are fine, right Ishita?' She waved her hands in front of Ishita's face.
'Huhh what?' Ishita was miles away. 'I said you are okay'
'Oh, I'm fine thanks and you' Ishita said.
Mihika stood up. 'Excuse me but I have to go and talk to Prateek about something' with that she left the table.
Ishita was now looking for an escape route.
Raman just laughed 'I remember that guy isn't he Prateek Rai the guy you were on a holiday with four years ago'
'Yes, Prateek is one of my friends and yes he was on holiday with me' Ishita said.
'Perhaps, he is the father of your kids' Raman said sarcastically.
Ishita was beyond angry and she replied 'How could he be the father when I was with you 24/7'
'I don't know but I know that I'm not the father of your kids' Raman replied firmly.
Ishita was speechless and decided to change the topic 'so what are you doing here, isn't it rude to leave your companion on the table alone' Ishita said while pointing to the blonde girl who was sitting on the same table where Raman was a while ago.
Raman forgot how quick she was in changing topics. He could sense that Ishita was jealous.
'Oh no, my business was concluded long time ago so don't worry, you are not stealing me away from anyone' Raman said with a wide smile.
'Well good to know...so what can I do for you?' Ishita said.
'Nothing just came to say hi and I really hope you will consider doing business with me' Raman said.
'Let us just come to the point ... What do you want from me Raman?' Ishita asked.
'I want you' Raman said smirking.
'Excuse me' Ishita exclaimed totally stunned to what he had just said.
Raman chuckled and repeated again 'I want you Ishita'
'Oh my god, I can't believe this, you are the one who broke up with me in the first place and now you think it's okay to barge into my life and force yourself into it' Ishita said angrily.
Raman studied her.
'God you are so beautiful Ishita' Raman said ignoring what Ishita just said to him.
Ishita was stunned and at loss of words 'ehhh...'
'So I will see you tomorrow at 7 sharp' he said.
'And oh if you think about not coming you can kiss your business goodbye and I want you in my bed' Raman said.
Ishita was furious. She wanted to kill him with her own hands.
'That's blackmail and I'm not gonna sleep with you' Ishita exclaimed.
'Okay then you can kiss your business goodbye and I wonder...' He didn't get to finish his sentence when Ishita said 'Fine, okay I'll do whatever you want me to do'
'Don't act like you don't want me too, I can see it in your eyes' Raman said.
'Oh I don't want you' Ishita said.
'If this was the case, you would not have kissed him the way you did this morning' Raman said smirking.
Ishita blushed and looked away.
'Well you... you took me by surprise' Ishita replied.
'Whatever you say, enjoy your food and goodbye' with that he kissed Ishita on her cheeks and took off.
Ishita was in deep thoughts and she did not even notice when Mihika came back and was sitting 'a penny for your thoughts'
Ishita jumped from her chair. 'Oh my goodness, I didn't see you'
'Obviously' Mihika said.
Ishita was mad at her friend because she left her alone with Raman.
'How could you do that Mihika' Ishita said. Mihika stared at her. 'What did I do?'
'You left me alone with that pig'
'Oh you mean the gorgeous hunk and where is Prateek with our food I'm hungry.' She called Prateek and asked for food.
Ishita could not believe her friend. 'So what did he want?'
'He blackmailed me into working for him'
'Oh shut up we needed the money'
'You know I'm tired and Aditya is not well we should hurry'
Prateek came with the food and they ate in silence. Mihika paid the bill before leaving as it was her treat.
'I'm sorry for ruining our night but I promise I will make it up to you sometime' said Ishita.
'It's okay, I understand and don't let that pig get to you okay'
'If only it was that simple Mihika'
'I will kick his ass if he hurts you okay, goodnight and kiss my cutie pies goodnight for me' Mihika said.
'I will' Ishita replied smiling.
Ishita remembered that she needed someone to look after the kids tomorrow. 'Ehh, Mihika please look after the kids for me tomorrow'
'Oh I will babysit them, I haven't seen those guys in a while' Mihika said.
'Thanks you, you are an angel you know that' Ishita said. Mihika laughed at that 'goodnight I will see you tomorrow bye'
Ishita drove home and found the light still on. 'Amma, I'm home.' Amma was sitting on the sofa and watching tv.
'So how was your date?' amma said.
She laughed and sat down. 'Amma, I was not on a date, I was with Mihika'
'Oh I forgot, how is she and stop laughing you are young you should start dating again'
Ishita was uncomfortable now because the lies kept building up. She was busy shifting poses and her mother did not notice it.
'Amma, I have two kids no one wants that and I'm okay with being single, my kids are everything to me.'
'I'm your mother and I'm telling you that it's time to move on it have been what four or three years, he would have wanted you to move on honey.'
Ishita was now crying and she couldn't stop. 'Ohh honey please don't cry okay'
Amma hugged child and swiped away her tears. Ishita could not tell her mother that Raman was or is still alive because he made that clear that he did not want his kids with that in mind she couldn't disappoint her amma so she kept her mouth shut.
'I love you amma'
'I love you too Ishu, I'm going to bed now and think about what I just said okay'
'Good night'
Ishita stood up and went to the kids' room to check on them. She just stood there and look at her two bundles of joy. She still could not believe that she is their mother. She kissed them on their foreheads and went to her room.
