Marathi celebs and media come together for a unique cricket league
Marathi Celebrity Cricket League season I to kick off on May 6 for a cause – to support Apnalaya, an NGO working for ragpickers and ADAPT NGO in the city ,Leading Marathi celebrities and media professionals have now come together for a unique cricket league for cause. The season I of the much-publicised Marathi Celebrity Cricket League (MCCL)season -1 kicks off at the Dadoji Konddev Stadium in Thane on May 6 between 6 pm to 9pm. The celebs are coming together to support leading NGO Apnalaya, which works for the rag-picker's families and children living around Deonar dumpsite in central Mumbai. Apnalaya is promoted by Ms. Annabel Mehta.
Organised by Mitai Foundation and conceptualized by Next Level Media Communications P. Ltd, MCCL will have two Marathi celebrity teams and one team of Marathi entertainment media. The final match will be played amongst the celebrity winner team and media team.
Leading celebs like 1) Mahesh Manjrekar 2) Santosh Manjrekar 3) Santosh Juvekar 4) Rajesh Shringarpure 5) Sachit Patil 6) Pushkar Shrotri 7) Aniket Vishwasrao 8) Sameer Dharmadhikari 9) Kedar Shinde 10) Jaywant Wadkar 11) Tojo(Rahul) Gore 12) Dongo(Vivek) Gore.13) Anand Ingale 14) Rahul Mehendale 15) Angad Mhaskar.16) Satish Rajwade 17) Niranjan Patki 18) Bhargavi Chirmule's husband 19) Sunil Barve 20) Sangram Samel will be seen in action on the cricket pitch on May 6. And there is equal excitement in the Marathi media circles about the game. The media team comprises of leading names like Amit Bhandari (Star Maza), Bhushan Karandikar (Zee 24 tass), Subodh Mayure (E TV), Mahendra More (SaamTV), Saumitra Pote and Sandeep Shinde (Maharashtra times), to name few from the electronic and print media. Each match will be played of 8 overs using a tennis ball. A gala opening ceremony has been planned with lavani performers as cheerleaders along with dhol players at the venue.
Said Anish Joshi, Chairman and Managing Trustee of Mitai Foundation, "We wanted to work for a cause and were eager to use an out-of-box idea to raise funds. It's a pleasure to get unconditional support from all the celebrities, especially from Mahesh Manjrekarji despite his hectic schedule. We want to build MCCL as an annual property, which will expand each year and add value to the Marathi entertainment industry and equally fulfill our social objective."
The spirit behind MCCL season I is leading actor/producer/director Mahesh Manjrekar. "When the proposal came to me to bring all the Marathi celebrities to play cricket for charity, I was impressed and decided back it totally. It's a fantastic opportunity for our fraternity to give back to the society by playing a cricket match. Moreover, I'm happy to know that funds are going to a good NGO like Apnalaya."
An excited Annabel Mehta stated that she was pleasant surprised and equally happy to see the generous side of Marathi celebrities. "I thank Marathi entertainment industry for supporting an NGO like us. My best wishes to Mitai Foundation for organising this cricket league at such a huge scale and my special thanks to Mr. Mahesh Manjrekar," said Mehta.
