This story is about friendship, and how true friendship can keep someone alive.
Part 1
Sanjana was very excited....it was her cousin's birthday...Divya had just turned 13...she was three years younger than Sanjana, 16.
As Sanjana looked for her pearl earrings to go with the modestly-cut peach coloured dress she was wearing to the party, she thought how lucky she was to have a sister like Divya..
Sanjana didn't have any siblings, but Divya was close to her elder brother Ajay, and her other cousins who lived nearby. Though Divya n Sanjana didn't meet much, yet they enjoyed good long sisterly gossip sessions now n then...with her Sanjana never felt that she was with a cousin...Divya was her own sister.
Her mother's call snapped Sanjana out of her reverie...she found the earrings but as she turned to slip on her sandals, she stumbled over one of her two dogs, who looked up at her and grinned...holding her sandal in his mouth. Just then her other dog sauntered in, looking extremely pleased..he had just emptied her books rack after all!! She smacked him lightly on the snout, and he responded by wagging his tail hard enough to knock over her dustbin. She laughed and left the room.
This was one thing Sanjana and Divya had in common...they both loved dogs. Sanjana had two German Shepherds, Prince and Caesar, and Divya had a Labrador named Micheal, a Spaniel named Rocky and a German Shepherd Cindy.
After stumbling twice more over Prince and Caesar's toys, Sanjana reached the car and sat down beside her mother and they started out for the party.
Her mother smiled as she thought how perfectly things had turned out..Divya's mother and she were best friends, and their daughters loved each other too, despite being totally different from each other. Divya was tall, slim, stylish, and an extrovert, while Sanjana was short, plump, preferred clothes that were decent, but didn't attract attention, and was an introvert.
They reached Divya's home and her mother rushed out to greet them...
